## In short

Sindorim Sambaekga is a Korean restaurant near Sindorim Station in Guro, Seoul, serving jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) with kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) on one table. After a 10-minute wait in the evening, the Sambaek Jokbal + Kalguksu set cost 51,000 won and came with free barley rice, three house-made kimchis and thickly sliced boiled pork. Today I'm bringing you my review of a place called Sambaekga that I ate at in Sindorim! It's already famous among office workers, but if you're heading to Sindorim, I recommend this place — a true hidden (not really) gem. I had a generous spread with kalguksu, barley rice, and jokbal (pig's trotters) all together.

## Sindorim Sambaekga opening hours and break time

Sindorim Sambaekga is open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 9:40pm. On weekdays there's a break time from 3pm to 4pm, but on weekends and holidays it runs straight through with no break.

I found this place while wondering what to have for lunch near Sindorim Station, and honestly the name Sambaekga stuck in my head right away haha. As soon as I walked in, it had a neatly arranged vibe rather than that old-school, worn-in restaurant feel, and I liked that. The tables were spacious, there were separate reserved seats, and the layout felt comfortable even for a group — though it did get a bit crowded during busy hours!

I got in after about a 10-minute wait haha.

## What comes with the 51,000 won Sambaek Jokbal + Kalguksu set

After sitting down, I immediately ordered the Sambaek Jokbal + Kalguksu set — ₩51,000. There was a big notice posted near the side-dish corner.

![Notice about free barley rice posted near the side-dish corner](https://img.superchart.com/images/sindorim-sambaekga-pork-knuckle-kalguksu-set/sindorim-sambaekga-pork-knuckle-kalguksu-set-07-1q5pc-966.webp)

This turned out to be a pretty useful tip, so I read it closely — if you order kalguksu, they give you barley rice, hehe. Which means the kalguksu set is basically a no-brainer. Can you eat all of it? Yes, of course. The free barley rice sits in a warming rice cooker, so you just scoop out a portion, and if it's not enough, you can go back for more — how neat is that!! It did say not to waste any, though, so I only took as much as I could actually eat haha. (The barley rice was delicious too, but honestly the kimchi was the best part..!) Just my two cents.

## House-made side dishes and the lunchtime review event

Another thing that caught my eye at Sindorim Sambaekga was the note saying all the side dishes are made by hand. It said the geotjeori (fresh cut kimchi), mumallaengi bossam kimchi (dried radish kimchi for bossam), and eolgali baekkimchi (mustard leaf white kimchi) are all made in-house. It didn't feel like the banchan just showed up out of nowhere — each one felt like it had real effort put into it, which made me even more excited!

There was also a notice saying that if you eat lunch and leave a Naver receipt review, you get a free 500ml drink. I went for dinner so I missed out haha.

## How is the kalguksu at Sindorim Sambaekga? Eating it with barley rice

Let me start with the kalguksu we ordered. The noodles were quite chewy and the broth was mild and clean. It wasn't overly seasoned so it kept going down easy, almost too easy ㅜㅜㅜ. The kalguksu broth paired surprisingly well with the barley rice — personally, I'm totally into this combo. Jokbal aside, this is honestly a Sindorim spot worth visiting for the kalguksu alone.

## The boiled pork platter: several cuts in one serving

Now for the main dish we ordered — suyuk (boiled pork). The visuals alone did a lot of work here.. omg omg. It was sliced thick and rolled up into round bundles, so just looking at it made me start salivating. There were pieces with the skin still on and pure lean meat too, so one plate let us enjoy a variety of cuts. The meat itself had no gamey smell and was clean-tasting, with a tender bite, so it disappeared fast — seriously amazing.

### Tips before you visit Sindorim Sambaekga

- Don't hesitate to ask for more free barley rice with your kalguksu order — the notice literally tells you to.
- If you visit for lunch, don't forget to leave a Naver receipt review after your meal — it's a free drink, so skipping it is a loss lol.
- When serving yourself side dishes, take only as much as you'll eat — not wasting food seems like the polite thing to do here.

Being a considerate customer like this helps the owners run their business happily too. If you're craving jokbal-bossam in Sindorim or looking for a good Korean restaurant near Sindorim Station, go with Sambaekga!!

## Verdict: what was good and what fell short

Now for the overall verdict. Sambaekga was a great spot overall for a hearty meal with the kalguksu and suyuk combo. The fact that all the side dishes are made in-house and the free barley rice really showed the owner's care, and the Naver review event was a small but nice touch. And as I get older, a place where the side dishes are delicious on top of a good main menu.. I just love that.

That said, the outdoor waiting area was a bit hot, which was a small downside — though that might just be a matter of personal preference that not everyone will mind haha. Also, even when there weren't free tables, they cleared them quickly!! Overall satisfaction was high, and this is a place I'd want to visit again whenever I'm craving kalguksu or suyuk near Sindorim. If you're looking for a hearty meal around Sindorim, give Sambaekga a try!!!! Make sure to have the barley rice and suyuk combo!!!!
