## In short

Zilhal Bros Sangam is a New York street food and halal restaurant inside the Sangam DMC office town in Mapo, Seoul. A spice-shy dad and his son ordered the combo rice set (lamb + chicken) and a lamb burrito with the hot red sauce and jalapeños left out, and the white sauce alone was flavorful enough with generous portions. Zilhal Bros Sangam is an easy meal stop for families with children who can't eat spicy food.

I had some business near Sangam DMC, so I headed out with Hamin. We were trying to figure out lunch and thought, "Should we try something different today?" I searched for restaurants around Digital Media City and found a New York street food place, so I picked it right away haha. Zilhal Bros Sangam!

Spoiler: even the two of us spice-shy guys walked away very satisfied with a filling meal :)

## Where is Zilhal Bros Sangam, and where do you park?

Zilhal Bros Sangam is about a 10-minute walk from Exit 1 of Susaek Station. It's inside the Sangam DMC office district, so it seems to draw a lot of office workers during lunch hour.

If you're driving, you can use the building's underground parking lot. We drove since we had our kid with us, and it was a hassle-free visit with no parking stress :)

## Inside Zilhal Bros Sangam: an American diner feel

![Interior with red and yellow decor and checkerboard floor](https://img.superchart.com/images/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice-02-bbwwb-966.webp)

The moment we walked in, I thought, "Oh, this is different." The bold red-and-yellow interior and the black-and-white checkerboard floor tiles genuinely felt like stepping into an American diner.

CNN was playing on the store TV, and there were cute figures and props scattered around, so Hamin stayed busy looking around while we waited haha.

It's a glass-walled open kitchen, so you can watch the meat being grilled on the flat-top right in front of you — and seeing how clean it looked was reassuring 👍 Since it's a newly opened location, everything from the exterior to the interior was really spotless.

By the way, apparently 'JILHAL BROS' is short for 'Quality Halal.' They say the brand was inspired by the halal food beloved on the streets of New York!

## Menu and ordering: what's the difference between the burrito and the kebab?

![Kiosk ordering screen showing rice, burrito, and kebab menus](https://img.superchart.com/images/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice-03-1nnfz-966.webp)

Ordering is easy via kiosk. There are three main lines — rice, burrito, kebab — plus sides like fries, onion rings, and chicken tenders.

The difference between burrito and kebab is whether rice is included or not. Go for the burrito if you want something filling, or the kebab if you want something lighter!

Here's what we ordered :)

- Combo rice set (lamb + chicken) — rice bowl + fries + Dr Pepper Zero
- Lamb burrito

## How to order Zilhal Bros without the spice

⚠️ One thing I should mention first — both my son and I are pretty spice-shy, haha. When ordering, we asked for the spicy sauce on the side and requested no jalapeños.

Spoiler: this choice was a total game changer. I'll explain why below haha.

### 1. Combo rice set (lamb + chicken)

![Combo rice set topped with lamb and chicken](https://img.superchart.com/images/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice-05-1kt0i-966.webp)

This is the restaurant's signature dish. Fluffy basmati rice topped generously with cubed lamb and chicken, plus fresh lettuce, tomato, and tortilla, all piled onto one hearty plate.

First of all, the portion is genuinely huge. The moment it arrived, I thought, "Can we actually finish this?" haha. And what surprised me most was the white sauce! Since we're spice-shy, we skipped the spicy red sauce, but the white sauce alone was genuinely delicious.

It's savory and rich without being greasy, and it perfectly ties the meat, rice, and vegetables together into one dish. It's plenty tasty even without any heat — I really want spice-shy folks to know that 😍

The distinctive lamb smell was milder than expected too, so Hamin ate it without any hesitation. Even people trying halal food for the first time could enjoy this without worry.

One tip: try the meat and rice on their own first to taste the lamb's natural flavor, then mix everything with the sauce and salad and wrap it in the tortilla — it turns into a completely different dish haha.

### 2. Fries that come with the set

I can't skip talking about these. The fries are chunky! Not thin stick-style fries, but a thick-cut style — crispy on the outside with that cozy, potato-forward texture still intact inside.

They were fresh and piping hot, and Hamin kept reaching for just these lol. Honestly, they're good enough quality that you could order them on their own.

The set also comes with Dr Pepper Zero, which is less sweet and cleaner-tasting than regular cola — good for cutting through the richness.

### 3. Lamb burrito

*[Photo: Lamb burrito / cut in half]*

This is the burrito version, with rice included. A big tortilla packed tight with lamb, rice, and fresh lettuce, with no gaps. It felt genuinely heavy in hand haha.

With the first bite, the lamb's meaty flavor comes through first, then the white sauce's savoriness wraps around it smoothly. If you like the distinctive flavor of lamb, this dish is a definite recommendation.

Ask them to cut it in half for easier eating — it shows off the fillings nicely and makes it easy to share! We cut ours in half and shared it with Hamin too :)

## What we liked and what fell short at Zilhal Bros Sangam

![Combo rice and lamb burrito together on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice/jilhal-bros-sangam-mild-combo-rice-10-v7mdx-966.webp)

Pros

- ✅ The white sauce is genuinely delicious, plenty tasty without any heat
- ✅ Portions are generous enough for a full meal
- ✅ The chunky fries are high quality
- ✅ You can request the spice level and skip jalapeños
- ✅ Open kitchen lets you check cleanliness for yourself
- ✅ Kid-friendly, not too heavy on spices

Cons

- ❌ Closes at 7:30 PM, so late dinner isn't an option
- ❌ 10-minute walk from Susaek Station, a bit far without a car

I'd recommend this to :)

- Office workers looking for restaurants around Digital Media City
- Anyone wanting something different from burgers or sandwiches
- Spice-shy people who still want to try exotic food
- Anyone wanting to grab a meal with their kid

## The verdict on Zilhal Bros Sangam

This is a place where a spice-shy dad and son skipped all the spicy sauce and still went, "Wait, why is this so good?" haha. It genuinely surprised me how much this dish achieved with white sauce alone. Hamin kept picking at the fries so I ended up eating half of his combo rice lol.
