Today I'm bringing you a review of Kkua Ewha, a pho place I've always liked haha. I've eaten at other Kkua branches before so it's already a trusted spot for me, but this was my first time at the Ewha location.

Bottom line first: it was delicious as always... and honestly, the Ewha branch was way prettier than I expected, argh. You come for pho and end up admiring the interior lol.

## Where is Kkua Ewha? Location, hours and parking

Kkua Ewha is on the 2nd floor at 42 Ihwayeodae-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. It's about 200m from Ewha Station Exit 3, so it's a quick walk.

Coming out of Exit 3 and walking toward Paris Baguette, you pass Subway and Starbucks, and then a big PHO sign comes into view — easier to find than I thought haha. Go up the wooden stairs and you're right at Kkua!

Hours are daily 11:00–20:30, last order at 20:00, with no separate break time. No break time is honestly so nice lol — you can go even at those awkward mid-afternoon hours when you want to eat.

If you're driving, there's no on-site lot, but you can use the nearby Ewha Iroom parking lot.

## Eating alone at Kkua Ewha: single seats and the room

Walking in, the space was bigger and more colorful than I expected — it really caught my eye. There's a Vietnamese vibe to it, but it doesn't feel dated at all — more the kind of place that photographs well!

There are plenty of table seats too, so it looked good for coming with friends or for a date. What I especially liked was that there are separate single seats for eating alone haha.

Pho is genuinely a great dish for solo dining, but sitting alone at a big table can sometimes feel awkward. Here, thanks to the single seats and bar table, it's comfortable to visit alone.

So it should suit anyone looking for a good solo-dining spot near Ewha too! They also offer group seating, wifi, takeout, delivery, reservations, a waiting area, and high chairs.

## What kind of restaurant is Kkua? Hanoi-style pho

Kkua is known for being featured on tvN's 'Restaurants with a Line,' so a lot of people probably already know it. The signature menu is, of course, pho!

They aim for pho true to local Hanoi style, and the broth is simmered for over 10 hours to bring out a deep, rich meaty flavor, apparently. Besides pho, Kkua is also known for Vietnamese dishes like bun cha and banh xeo, but that day I was really craving something spicy, so I went straight for the spicy pho without hesitation haha.

## Spicy beef-packed pho: char-grilled beef and picking a spice level

What I ordered was the spicy beef-packed pho!

Kkua's signature spicy pho has char-grilled beef and Vietnamese chili in it, making it spicier than the regular pho. I got to choose my spice level too, and it landed exactly where I wanted it haha. The moment the dish arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the meat.

![Spicy pho loaded with char-grilled beef](https://img.superchart.com/images/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo-14-1j89k-900.webp)

True to its name, there was an insane amount of meat piled on top lol. Enough that you could grab a piece of meat with every single bite of noodles and still not run out — as a meat lover, I was fully satisfied, argh. And because it's char-grilled beef, there was a subtle smokiness that made the broth taste even richer.

### How does the Kkua Ewha broth taste?

I tried the broth first... and yep, it's Kkua alright haha. The spiciness hit right away, but it wasn't just spicy and salty for the sake of it.

![Spicy pho broth and noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo-16-1abbp-900.webp)

There's a deep, meaty base flavor from the classic pho broth, with the spiciness rising up over it — my spoon kept going back for more. The noodles slid down smoothly too, and eating them together with the char-grilled beef made for a pretty filling bowl.

![A bite combining noodles and char-grilled beef](https://img.superchart.com/images/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo-18-155ab-900.webp)

Anyone who likes spicy pho will really vibe with this dish. I like plain pho too, but on days like this when I'm craving something spicy, this is the only way to go lol.

## The best side for one: adding one nem (fried spring roll)

Eating just pho felt a little lacking, so I added one nem (fried spring roll) too. It's a Vietnamese-style handmade fried dumpling made with pork, whole shrimp, and vegetables, and since you can order it one piece at a time, it was really great for solo dining.

Perfect for when a whole plate of sides is too much, but just pho feels like it's missing something! The outside was crispy and the inside was packed with filling, so the texture was great with every bite. Dipping it in the accompanying sauce made it even better, argh.

A sip of pho broth, then a bite of nem dipped in sauce... they go so well together haha. I also ordered a zero-sugar cola, and the combo of spicy pho, crispy nem, and cold soda was excellent.

## Next visit at Kkua Ewha: shrimp rice paper roll, ₩7,000

While browsing the menu, the ₩7,000 shrimp rice paper roll caught my eye too.

![Menu composition guide at Kkua Ewha](https://img.superchart.com/images/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo/qua-ewha-spicy-beef-pho-solo-22-8eypd-900.webp)

Apparently it's fried shrimp wrapped in net-style rice paper, served with sriracha mayo and a nuoc mam salad. I didn't get to try it this time, but I'm definitely ordering it next time haha. I love fried shrimp, and with sriracha mayo, it's basically impossible to be bad lol.

Kkua isn't just pho — with sides like this plus bun cha and banh xeo, it seems like a great place to order a bunch of dishes and share if you come with a group.

## Is Kkua Ewha worth a visit? Final verdict

This was my first time visiting the Ewha branch, and since I already liked Kkua, I was satisfied as expected. The space was bigger than I thought, the interior was pretty, and I loved that there were single seats for comfortable solo dining. Above all, the spicy beef-packed pho I had was genuinely delicious, argh.

Piled high with meat, the broth spicy yet deep, with that distinctive char-grilled smokiness — I finished the whole bowl haha. Ordering the nem alongside made the side combo perfect too. Kkua was already a place I loved, and the Ewha branch confirms it's a trusted favorite lol.

If you're looking for good food near Ewha, a pho place near Ewha, or somewhere to eat solo near Ewha, give Kkua Ewha a try! Next time I want to come with friends and properly order banh xeo, bun cha, and the shrimp rice paper roll too.
