## In short

Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a kodari (braised dried pollock) and jjukkumi (baby octopus) restaurant at 379 Bongcheon-ro, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, a 132m walk from Exit 5 of Bongcheon Station on Line 2. After a visit to Boramae Hospital, the writer ordered the small abalone kodari jorim with two bowls of rice and extra rice cake strips, and the pot arrived with two pollock and four whole abalone. Free side dishes, seaweed soup, steamed egg, a self-serve bibimbap corner and sungnyung (roasted rice tea) made it a restorative lunch finished to the last grain of rice.

> The Bongcheon Station kodari spot Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch — abalone braised pollock with bibimbap is a great combo 💛

I had to visit Boramae Hospital nearby recently, and while I was in the area, a friend who lives in Bongcheon-dong strongly recommended a restaurant she swears by. That's how I ended up at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch, a Bongcheon Station kodari (dried pollock) spot known for its spicy-sweet sauce and chewy texture.

Parking right in front of the store, an affordable lunch special, and a self-serve bibimbap corner — everything was pretty much perfect 😋

Right at the entrance, a sign caught my eye: "We strive to be the kind of place one person visits 100 times, rather than one 100 people visit once." And true to that spirit, the owner was so friendly that I had a genuinely pleasant meal 👍🏻

## Sangdo Neulbori's menu and lunch specials: what we ordered

The signature menu at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is kodari (dried pollock) and jjukkumi (baby octopus), with kodari available original, with dried radish greens, or with abalone. Since I'd just come from the hospital, I ordered a small abalone braised pollock along with two bowls of rice, for a bit of extra nourishment.

The lunch special also looked well put together and good value. That day, since I'd just come from the hospital, I ordered the small abalone braised pollock with two bowls of rice for a bit of extra nourishment.

## Side dishes and hot steamed egg included with every meal

As soon as I ordered, a tidy set of side dishes was laid out.

![Seaweed soup served as a standard side](https://img.superchart.com/images/bongcheon-abalone-kodari-braised-sangdo/bongcheon-abalone-kodari-braised-sangdo-14-48zbf-900.webp)

A seaweed soup that pairs perfectly with the spicy braised pollock, plus a soft steamed egg, are both included as standard!

I took a big spoonful and it was really soft and delicious.

## Small abalone kodari jorim: four whole abalone in the pot

The small abalone braised pollock at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch came with two pollock and four abalone. Large chunks of potato and radish were mixed in too, perfect alongside rice.

Today's star, the abalone braised pollock, has arrived!

Two pollock and four whole fresh abalone...!

The softly cooked abalone was really delicious. We shared them evenly, two each 💛

The potato and radish were cut in generous chunks too, great with rice. The potato especially was really tasty.

I also added rice cake strips, and that turned out to be another highlight.

True to its reputation as a Bongcheon Station kodari spot, the pollock had a chewy texture and a sauce that wasn't too intense — the kind of flavor you keep reaching for.

Wrapping rice, bean sprouts, and pollock together in dried laver made it clear this is the real deal.

## Finishing the meal with self-serve bibimbap

![Vegetables from the self-serve corner with leftover rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/bongcheon-abalone-kodari-braised-sangdo/bongcheon-abalone-kodari-braised-sangdo-23-1tqih-900.webp)

With half a bowl of rice left after eating with the braised pollock, I mixed it up with vegetables I'd brought over from the self-serve bibimbap corner.

Adding spicy gochujang and nutty sesame oil, I was able to enjoy every last grain of rice.

## Final verdict on kodari at Sangdo Neulbori near Bongcheon Station

My friend, a real Bongcheon-dong local, is a regular here, and the recommendation lived up to it — this really is a genuine kodari favorite. Convenient parking in front, spicy-sweet chewy abalone braised pollock, and even a self-serve bibimbap corner with sungnyung — there was nothing to complain about from start to finish. I'd love to bring my parents here next time. If you're looking for a hearty, delicious lunch spot near Bongcheon Station, I highly recommend giving it a try 🙌🏻
