Last weekend I stopped by the 2026 Seoul International Garden Fair for a picnic. In the evening I headed to Seongsu for a premium shabu-shabu spot that's great for family gatherings — Shabu in Seoul. Here's my very satisfying visit report!

With cool autumn breezes rolling in these days, it's the perfect season to check out the 2026 Seoul International Garden Fair. From themed gardens in the middle of the city to hands-on activities and food, there was plenty to enjoy.

After touring the garden fair at Seoul Forest and enjoying an autumn picnic, we stopped by Shabu in Seoul Seongsu — great for a family gathering. It's about a 10-minute drive from Seoul Forest, so the two make a nice combo course.

## What is the Prime Angus chuck flap shabu set like?

This is the Prime Angus chuck flap shabu set. It's said to be Shabu in Seoul's signature dish, using chuck flap from Prime-grade Angus, which is in the top 8% of the breed. The tender texture and rich juiciness were really satisfying.

Along with the meat, there was a generous amount of fresh vegetables — shiitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, bok choy, sweet pumpkin, rice paper — so it felt hearty and filling.

We chose the spicy mushroom broth. Simmering the vegetables with cheongyang chili peppers and minced garlic added deep savoriness to the already clean-tasting broth — really delicious.

With plenty of vegetables plus beef, this premium shabu-shabu felt both healthy and filling — deep, clean flavor without being too intense, just right :)

The chuck flap was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. It was delicious dipped in sauce, but you could also taste the meat's natural flavor on its own, which I loved.

With cold weather coming soon, this hot, spicy broth felt just right for the current weather too.

### Adding shrimp balls to eat the shabu hotpot-style

We also added shrimp balls to enjoy it like hotpot. Different from the beef, the springy, bouncy shrimp texture was really tasty. Everyone in the family enjoyed it — a very satisfying meal.

### Ending with rosé risotto and omija tea

After eating our fill of shabu-shabu, the rosé risotto meal course arrived. It was my first time having risotto together with shabu-shabu, and it felt like a nice change — the cheesy flavor made it hard to stop eating.

With whole shrimp mixed in, it paired nicely with the risotto. It was a great way to end a hearty meal in Seongsu after an autumn outing at Seoul Forest :)

After the meal, we finished up cleanly with omija tea. From the shabu set to the meal course, the whole spread felt full and satisfying — great for a relaxed meal with family :)

## Is Shabu in Seoul Seongsu good for a family gathering?

That was my introduction to Shabu in Seoul Seongsu. From premium shabu-shabu to dessert, it was enjoyable like a full course and left us feeling full and satisfied, and the upscale space made it a great place for a relaxed meal with family. If you're looking for somewhere to eat after an autumn outing at the Seoul International Garden Fair in Seoul Forest, I'd recommend visiting here for a Seongsu family gathering or a date course.
