With a cute rubber duck omurice and a sizzling cheese katsu where they pour cheese right in front of you, this was a great spot for a theater date, haha. My boyfriend and I watched a play on the weekend and went for a late lunch afterward. Even though it was a bit late, there were still a lot of people. We waited about 20 minutes before getting in!

We went with the Oh! Set — rubber duck omurice + sizzling cheese katsu + corn fritters + 2 pineapple ades — and it came to ₩59,500 for both of us. The summer-version rubber duck was so cute, lol. The corn fritters and ade also stuck with me, so let me go through the menu board and everything we ate in detail!

## Where is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, and what does the entrance look like?

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor of a building on Daemyeong-gil. From outside, you can see a cream-colored 'Oh! Meal' sign above red brick. It's nice to grab food nearby after a play, isn't it. We stopped by Omil for a late lunch after the show. (•‿•) There's also a big poster of the rubber duck omurice, so you can tell what's on the menu right from the entrance, haha.

Near the entrance there was also a photo of the summer rubber duck — wearing sunglasses and floating in a green tube.

## How long is the weekend late-lunch wait at Omil? About 20 minutes

This one little duck already gives off summer vibes, lol. But once we went upstairs, it was packed. Even for a late lunch, we couldn't just sit right down. We waited about 20 minutes before getting a table. If you're seeing a show afterward like we did, it's fine, but if you're planning to eat before a performance, leave some buffer before curtain time. Worth keeping in mind that even a late weekend lunch had a wait!

The entrance has cream-colored frames with rounded corners, and the glass in the middle of the door even has a wavy texture. The cute mood carries from the sign all the way to the entrance, haha. (´▽`)

## Inside Omil Hyehwa Daehangno and what's on the self-service bar

Inside, the walls were bright and the furniture wood-toned, with light-colored tabletops and wooden chairs. Natural light came in near the windows, making the gold ade cups sparkle even more.

Along the stairs there are posters of omurice and pasta, and the self-service bar shelf has a row of knitted-looking carrot, corn, and sunflower decorations. These little details quietly catch your eye, lol.

The self-service bar had water, paper cups, and pickles ready. You can grab what you need there, and there was also a phone charging stand nearby. Not just the dining area — even this little corner was decorated with care.

I put this together based on the order screen I checked. The prices below are for individual à la carte items, separate from the total we paid for our set.

The gochujang butter pasta menu description mentioned the umami of gochujang paired with buttery richness. If you're in the mood for cream, there's bacon cream pasta, and if you want spicy, you can compare the pollock roe or seafood options.

The spicy seafood pasta in particular had three chili pepper marks next to it. If you're sensitive to spice, check before ordering! We didn't try any pasta this time, so I'm introducing this section based on the menu board descriptions.

## What the Oh! Set for two actually cost: 59,500 won

This time, instead of pasta, we chose the rubber duck omurice and the sizzling cheese katsu. We ordered them as the Oh! Set, which also comes with a side and two ades. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و

The 2-person set screen showed ₩47,700, but our cart with our chosen items came to ₩59,500, and that's what we actually paid. The starting set price and the final selected amount can differ. After picking all the items,

you just check the final total shown in the cart. Split between the two of us, it came to ₩29,750 per person. That's two mains, one side, and one drink each.

## Summer-version rubber duck omurice, 16,900 won

One of the things I ordered was the rubber duck omurice. The à la carte price was listed as ₩16,900, and we added it to our set. (♡˙︶˙♡) The one we got that day was the summer version — a rubber duck wearing sunglasses and floating in a green tube, sitting right next to the plate. It was so cute I have to show it separately, lol.

On top of the omurice itself, there are small duck faces clustered together — black eyes, yellow beaks and all,

and in the middle sits a decoration shaped like a green parasol, so it looks like the ducks are all out for a group swim, haha. The yellow egg is layered like a swirl, and the plate rim has plenty of reddish-brown sauce. It wasn't just the duck decorations that were cute — the color combo of yellow egg and green tube was pretty too.

The menu described it as a swirled omurice wrapping salmon fried rice. Scoop it with a spoon and you can see the fried rice under the egg — you eat the egg, rice, and surrounding sauce all together.

The little duck faces are even cuter up close. What stuck with me most that day was definitely the visual of the summer rubber duck, lol. From the moment the food arrived, it was fun just to look at.

## Sizzling cheese katsu: the cheese is poured at your table

The other main we picked was the sizzling cheese katsu, also included in our set. (⊙▽⊙) A round, thick pork katsu comes out on a sizzling plate, but that's not the end — they pour cheese right over it, lol. Watching the cheese cascade down and cover the katsu, spreading to the edges of the plate, was the highlight.

Once the cheese is poured, the top is almost entirely white. On the plate there's also broccoli, tomato, and golden-browned corn, so bits of color peek through the white cheese here and there.

Cutting into it with a knife and fork, you can see there's cheese inside the katsu too. With cheese on the outside and cheese on the inside, the cross-section looks like this!

Unlike the thin, flat pork cutlet shape, this one is thick and round, so the cross-section really stands out. I captured the before-and-after of the cheese pour and the cut cross-section in both photos and video, haha.

If the rubber duck's highlight was the cute decoration, the sizzling cheese katsu's highlight was the cheese visual completed right in front of you. The two dishes looked totally different from each other, so having them side by side on the table made for fun contrast too.

## Corn fritters on the side, 11,900 won

For the side, we picked the corn fritters. The à la carte price was ₩11,900, and we had it as part of the set too. (๑´ڡ`๑) Instead of kernels rolled into a round fritter shape, this comes as corn cut into long pieces. The outside has an orange seasoning, with fine strands of white cheese on top — the menu described it as Padano cheese.

This was salty and delicious, haha. The seasoning coats every kernel, so it felt more flavorful than a bland side dish would. It also paired well with the sweet ade. Like in the photo, we ate it wearing plastic gloves.

Holding the long-cut corn by hand, the seasoning and cheese on the outside meant I didn't have to worry as much about my hands getting messy.

The plate also came with sauce and a grilled lemon wedge. What stuck with me most was the corn fritter's own salty flavor. It's not as flashy as the mains, but it was a side I'd be sorry to skip in this combination, haha.

## Pineapple ade at Omil: the cup catches your eye first

For drinks, we had two pineapple ades. The à la carte price was listed at ₩6,900 per cup. But here, the ade catches your eye starting with the cup!

It comes in a gold pineapple-shaped cup, complete with a lid shaped like leaves sticking out on top. The cup surface even has a texture like pineapple skin, so just setting one drink on the table made it look cuter, lol.

It tasted sweet and delicious, with a few actual pineapple bits inside. Unlike a smooth drink, I liked feeling the little chunks now and then. The menu also noted it's made with pineapple syrup. Going from the salty corn fritters to the sweet ade gave a nice contrast in flavor, and honestly, the pretty cup was a big part of the appeal too, haha.

## Omil Hyehwa Daehangno after a play: the verdict

The cuteness of the summer rubber duck, the cheese pour moment, and the salty corn fritters made for a memorable lunch. (≧∇≦)/ It's the Hyehwa Station restaurant we stopped at after watching a play with my boyfriend on the weekend, but I'll remember that even a late lunch on the weekend meant a 20-minute wait. If you have a set showtime, it's best to leave plenty of time for the meal.

This time we went with the rubber duck omurice and the sizzling cheese katsu, but the menu board also had a wide variety of pasta. If you want to compare Hyehwa pasta and omurice, it's worth looking over the full menu and picking based on your taste.
