I'm quite into pizza, and it turns out Busan has a surprising number of famous pizza spots. I used to think of chain pizza first when the word came up, but these days, going around Busan's best pizza restaurants, each shop has such a strong personality — dough, toppings, baking method, all different — that it's actually fun to pick and choose. Especially around Jeonpo, more and more handmade pizza places with real atmosphere have been popping up, and plenty are great for a pizza and a beer. The place I visited this time was Freewill Pizza, in Jeonpo. Even the exterior felt less like a typical pizza shop and more like something you'd stumble on in an alley somewhere in America, which had me curious for a while. When I was looking up Busan pizza spots, the photos caught my eye not just for the pizza itself but for the whole vibe of the place, and visiting in person confirmed they clearly put a lot of thought into the space. There are so many good pizza restaurants in Busan these days that decent pizza alone isn't enough to stick in your memory — but Freewill Pizza, with Jeonpo's particular hip atmosphere layered on top, really won me over, so I'm happy to recommend it.

Freewill Pizza sits deep inside an alley in Jeonpo, and the surrounding vibe is very Jeonpo. Walking through the alley packed with cafés, restaurants and concept shops, you can easily spot it by the black exterior wall with FREE WILL PIZZA painted in big letters. Out front there's terrace seating too, so on a nice day, eating pizza and drinking beer outside would feel exactly right. It felt less like coming out for Busan pizza and more like stepping into a different neighborhood for a bit — the kind of exterior that would also suit anyone hunting for a photogenic handmade pizza spot in Jeonpo.

### Inside Freewill Pizza: vintage interior and seating

Walk inside and the mood from outside carries straight through. Dark wood-toned floors, tables and wooden chairs cover the space, and the walls are packed with frames of all different sizes and shapes, giving it a slightly vintage American-diner feel. The interior was bigger than I expected too, with plenty of tables, so it wouldn't feel cramped even with a group. There's also separate terrace seating outside, but since it was still a bit warm during the day when I visited, I ate inside this time. Coming back on a cool autumn evening and sitting on the terrace with a pizza and a beer sounds pretty great.

## Ordering the half-and-half L-size: Freewill Pizza plus Hot Chicken Shrimp

This time I ordered a half-and-half L-size of Freewill Pizza and Hot Chicken Shrimp Pizza, plus a side of buffalo wings. From the photos I expected a pretty standard large pizza, but once it arrived it was much bigger than I thought, practically covering the table. Ordering half-and-half meant I could enjoy two flavors on one pizza, which also seemed great for sharing with a group. That said, this is handmade pizza made and baked to order, so it doesn't come out super fast. With the buffalo wings on the side, the whole table ended up looking pretty generous.

Hot Chicken Shrimp Pizza is spicy as the name suggests, but the creamy flavor is a bit stronger, so drizzling on a little hot sauce was exactly right. The plump texture of the shrimp, the spicy seasoning of the hot chicken, and the savory cheese worked well together to begin with, and adding hot sauce cut the richness while bringing the heat further to life. It wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, so I kept going back for more — personally, I preferred this half with the hot sauce added.

Of all the Busan pizza I've had, when it comes to handmade pizza specifically, Freewill Pizza personally ranks quite high — I'd almost call it the best I've had. They don't skimp on toppings, so even a single slice was packed with flavor. The Freewill Pizza's savoriness really popped when dipped in garlic sauce, and the Hot Chicken Shrimp Pizza's spiciness came alive with added hot sauce — both had their own distinct charm. The dough had that good texture you'd expect from freshly baked handmade pizza, and the L-size was bigger than expected, plenty for sharing among several people. With Jeonpo's distinctive hip atmosphere, a spacious interior, and terrace seating, it seems like a great spot for pizza and beer outdoors once the weather cools down. Above all, the staff were friendly, which made the whole meal pleasant, and even though the food came out a bit slowly, knowing it was freshly made-to-order Busan pizza made the wait worth it. If you're looking for proper handmade pizza in Jeonpo, Freewill Pizza is the first place I'd recommend.
