## In short

Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store is a sashimi restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, serving aged fish and seafood dishes near Sinsa Station. I paired the small assorted aged sashimi platter with minari vegetable salad and Hallasan soju. Verdict: add the minari salad to the assorted aged sashimi.

Today, I visited a hot spot on Garosu-gil that has been getting loads of buzz for its fresh aged sashimi and varied seafood snacks! With its open interior, live wave footage playing on the wall, unexpectedly breezy vibe, and a sashimi lineup that is the ultimate visual feast, this place won over both my eyes and taste buds at once: Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store (파랑해녀집 신사직영점)!

## A seaside mood created by wave footage and floor-to-ceiling windows

![Restaurant atmosphere with wave footage and floor-to-ceiling windows](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip-02-1wl0m-900.webp)

The first thing that caught my eye as soon as I opened the door was the wave footage from a projector filling one entire wall!

![Wave footage projected onto the wall](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip-04-ny6hh-900.webp)

It created such a crisp, refreshing mood that it felt like having a drink at an outdoor pojangmacha (street-food tent) by the actual seaside.

![Restaurant seating with generously spaced tables](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip-06-12kcu-900.webp)

The tables are nicely spaced out and there are plenty of seats, so it would be great not only for a Garosu-gil date course, but also for post-work gatherings with friends or group dinners!

## What I ordered and the basic table setting

Here is the lineup I ordered today!

*Don’t forget the review event!*

Once the order goes in, a neat basic table setting arrives first.

There was warm miyeok-guk (seaweed soup), simmered for a deep savory flavor, along with a shared plate of fresh sea vegetables such as hijiki, gim (dried seaweed), and perilla leaves. Even before the main sashimi arrived, the sea aroma was so present that it naturally called for a shot of soju!

## How was the five-fish assorted aged sashimi?

### Small assorted aged sashimi, ₩48,000

At last, today’s main event arrived: assorted aged sashimi! Five seasonal fish—flounder, salmon, engawa (flounder fin), sea bass, and red sea bream—were plated evenly in thick slices, glistening from the moment they hit the table. The salmon had no fishiness at all; its nutty, clean richness melted away softly, and

the flounder was wonderfully springy, with a clean flavor that came through more and more as I chewed. Very good, haha.

The engawa filled my mouth with its signature crunchy bite and rich, nutty fattiness!

The red sea bream was prepared masugawa-style, with only the skin side briefly blanched in hot water. The more I chewed, the more its crisp yet chewy texture and fatty flavor really came alive.

Sea bass was the most my style! Its texture gathered up the best of live fish and aged sashimi—just the right amount of bounce, with a satisfyingly chewy finish—and was hands-down the best.

Putting gim on a perilla leaf, then adding a thick slice of aged sashimi, house-made ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and fresh wasabi before wrapping it all up felt like setting sail on an endless voyage, haha.

## Should you definitely add the minari vegetable salad?

![Extra minari vegetable salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip/sinsa-aged-sashimi-minari-paranghaenyeojip-17-1jle7-900.webp)

### Minari vegetable salad, ₩2,000

To boost the flavor while eating the aged sashimi, I added this minari vegetable salad for ₩2,000! It came generously tossed with crisp cabbage and fragrant minari (water parsley) in a sweet-and-spicy dressing,

and placing a little over the springy aged sashimi made for a fantastic pairing: the sharp, fresh flavor played beautifully with the fish’s nutty richness. Adding this minari is not optional—it’s essential!

## A perfect drink pairing of aged sashimi and Hallasan

### Hallasan, ₩7,000

With fresh, chewy aged sashimi and minari salad on the table, how could alcohol be left out? Haha... A glass of clean, strong Hallasan washed away the fish’s rich fattiness and completed the perfect light drinking spread.

## Overall

The thick-cut fish was wonderfully fresh, springy, and savory, while the live wave-video interior makes this a perfect spot to enjoy a seaside mood right in the middle of Sinsa-dong. When ordering the assorted aged sashimi, I strongly recommend adding the minari vegetable salad (₩2,000) and eating it with the fish!
