Hi everyone. Why am I craving naengsam (frozen pork belly) so much these days~~ Your resident pig sister here to say hi! I just moved to Seoul, so I've been scoping out good restaurants near my place.

Today marks one week since I moved in. There's a whole food alley right on the ground floor of my building... so the walk home is seriously dangerous haha. Especially since I'm supposedly on a diet.

## Sangbong Station naengsam restaurant, ₩9,900 a serving

Today's spot was Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch. It's already known as THE naengsam place in Sangbong. I got off work late tonight, past 9pm, and the smell of pork belly was drifting right up to my front door~,~ so we figured, let's just have a light (?) naengsam dinner lol

Super Naengsam charges ₩9,900 per serving. Given how prices are these days, isn't that seriously cheap?! And unlike a lot of other naengsam places, the cuts here have decent thickness too, which makes it genuinely delicious.

## A self-service side dish bar with even minari included

We sat down, ordered 3 servings of naengsam to start, and the side dishes were ready to go. Even minari is self-serve here. Not an add-on you pay extra for — a spot where you can just help yourself to minari from the self-service corner? Isn't that basically the definition of a great deal...?

Scallion kimchi, which pairs amazingly with naengsam, plus perilla leaf, lettuce, seasoned bean sprouts, and enoki mushrooms — they've got it all!

## ₩3,900 Hangang ramyeon, and a bibim noodle plan with the naengsam

And here's the biggest reason I came here. My beloved ramyeon, here of all places... and they even have Hangang ramyeon, which made me expect it to be even better. Tonight's plan was naengsam plus bibim noodles! Hangang ramyeon was cheaper than the actual Han River at ₩3,900, and I loved that you get to pick the type.

### How to grill the naengsam

First, grill the naengsam deliciously! lol. Then throw on garlic, kimchi, bean sprouts, and pepper to taste. I'm a pepper lover so I went heavy on it.

Wow, look at that beautifully grilled naengsam. Can you see the thickness? Exactly the right thickness for one perfect bite. It's best eaten so your mouth is completely full — wrapped in lettuce, the juices just burst out, so good. And grilling the minari too made it twice, three times nuttier.

## For the bibim noodles, staff even gave them an ice-water rinse

After eating a good amount of naengsam, we went to make the bibim noodles. We pressed the button for bibim ramyeon, put on the water to boil, and while we waited a staff member came over and said bibim noodles taste best cold, so they'd give it an ice-water rinse! Genuinely thoughtful of them >_< Right up until that point I'd wondered if hot noodles would even be good, but yep, Super Naengsam really knows food, no doubt about it.

### Don't skip the homemade spicy sauce

While making the noodles I noticed they also had a special homemade spicy sauce. Being a spice lover myself, I couldn't believe I'd missed it before, so I grabbed a little. Dipped in it, the naengsam was seriously good, and stirring a bit more into the bibim noodles made the spiciness even more addictive! You have to try this homemade spicy sauce.

It was so good that... we'd agreed to eat in moderation but ended up ordering 2 more servings of naengsam.... I won't say who's fault that was..ㅎ

The ssam wraps were at the self-service corner, and as certified ssam addicts, we ate a lot of wraps and a lot of meat lol

Once the water boiled, the staff rinsed the noodles cold with ice water for us and even added ice! Mix it, mix it — right hand mixing, left hand mixing~

> You all know bibim noodles are naengsam's best partner, right..?ㅎㅎ

## Doenjang jjigae, generous with the ingredients

At the end, we ordered self-serve fried rice along with a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)... If you're coming to Super Naengsam, you absolutely must get the doenjang jjigae, seriously... the amount of ingredients packed in it was insane... the tofu alone was so generous, and the zucchini and everything else were substantial and hearty. We debated between doenjang jjigae and kimchi jjigae, but next time I want to try the kimchi jjigae too. Next visit, ending with the self-serve fried rice and kimchi jjigae is a must-do course.

We left a little meat aside and mixed it into the fried rice, and it was so good. Eating it, I thought: yeah, no matter how full you are, you have to eat the fried rice.... It's currently 10:30pm..ㅎ I should be sleeping soon but here I am pigging out like this..ㅎ It's fine, eating is never wasted... yeah, that's how it works...

## Cleared it all in one hour

We walked in past 9pm and in one hour, two pigs cleared 5 servings of naengsam, 2 rounds of self-serve fried rice, bibim noodles, and doenjang jjigae. We're definitely coming back. Highly recommend it as a go-to spot in the Sangbong Station food alley!
