I’m someone who really likes cockles, so I often make cockle muchim (seasoned cockle salad) at home. But if cockles are not purged properly, you can end up biting into sand during the meal, which is so distracting. ## A roomy interior for group gatherings, too

The moment we opened the door, the owner greeted us so, so, so kindly with a warm smile, and I felt happy from the very first step. The busy staff were incredibly quick and attentive as well, so we were comfortable throughout our meal! Inside, it was much roomier and more pleasant than it looked from outside. The tables were nicely spaced, and there was a separate group-seating area at the back, so it would work beautifully for family meals or work dinners. It was large enough for most group parties!

## Self-service bar, open kitchen, and free steamed rice

The self-service bar in the middle of the dining room was kept so neatly that it made me go wow. It was spotless, without a single spill mark, and filled with fresh vegetables and basic side dishes. Since many families visit with young children, baby chairs were available too, and the open kitchen right beside it was also kept clean, which made it even more reassuring!

Kkomak Manse has one huge advantage, too! Namely...! Steamed rice is free🤍🤍🤍 Unlimited rice is such a rare thing at a restaurant, right? Fragrant sesame oil and chojang (sweet-and-tangy red chili dipping sauce) were also available, so it would be great to mix them with the cockles👍🏻

You order using the kiosk at each table. We wanted to try a range of cockle dishes, so we ordered the Family Set for 2! You can choose soy sauce or spicy bibimbap, and honestly, spicy is always best for bibimbap...👍🏻✨

## Basic table setting with tofu kimchi and fish cake soup

After ordering, the neatly arranged basic side dishes arrived. Wait! Kkomak Manse even serves dubu kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi), which goes so well with drinks, as a basic side dish😭👍🏻 I desperately wanted alcohol at that point, but my husband’s look meant I had no choice but to resist... There were also perilla leaves, white kimchi, cucumber-and-seaweed vinegar salad, garlic scapes, and roasted seaweed! Every side dish was made with care, and I enjoyed them all🤍

That was not all. You can have the warm fish cake soup served in a pot even before the mains arrive. The broth had such a satisfying spicy kick that I felt like I was dying for a drink again...😭 Fish cake soup as a complimentary item, too... It made me think, ah, there is a reason this place is so popular😁👍🏻

## Manse seasoned cockles without a single grain of sand

Fresh cockles brought in from Beolgyo that day were generously topped with the house soy sauce seasoning, finely chopped scallions, chili peppers, sesame seeds, and a mountain of flying fish roe on the side—the presentation was seriously incredible...👍🏻 What surprised me most while eating was that, among all these cockles, not one grain of sand crunched between my teeth! I could feel the skill of a true cockle restaurant in their perfect purging technique🤍✨

### How to enjoy the cockles deliciously

The owner told us how to eat them deliciously, so we tried it exactly as suggested! I laid a sheet of seaweed on a perilla leaf, added seasoned cockles and popping flying fish roe, then took one huge wrap. The fragrant perilla leaf, cockles, and roe came together so beautifully...👍🏻 There was definitely a reason they recommended that combination!

For the bibimbap, you can choose between mild soy sauce and spicy seasoning, and we chose spicy. Crisp bean sprouts, finely sliced perilla leaves, seaweed flakes, flying fish roe, and a special spicy sauce filled a large bowl, which we mixed thoroughly with rice. From the first spoonful, we both fell completely for the savory flavor that clung so perfectly to the palateㅠㅠㅠㅠ🤍 The whole time we shared it, we kept thinking we should have ordered one each... You absolutely have to try the bibimbap...

The golden-brown cockle pancakes were fairly thick, yet not dry at all; they pulled apart softly with chopsticks and stayed wonderfully moist. The outside was crisp, while the inside was packed with chewy cockle meat and vegetables, making every bite fantastic. Dipped in the special soy sauce, the richness was balanced with a refreshing note—truly crisp outside and moist inside...✨ They were such a perfect drinking snack that I immediately thought I should take some home next time.
