## What kind of gastropub is Boktae Pocha in Nonhyeon-dong?

Boktae Pocha is a bar and grill (pocha, literally "tent bar") at 47 Sapyeong-daero 55-gil, 1st floor, Seocho-gu, Seoul. Today I'm sharing my visit to Boktae Pocha, a great spot in Nonhyeon-dong for a nice-atmosphere meal :)

Looking at the menu, there were way more options than I expected — everything from pasta to hot pots to grilled dishes — so it was hard to pick. We went with the clam hot pot for something warm and brothy, and ordered the teriyaki chicken thigh grill alongside it for something savory and grilled.

First, the vibe of the place. The soft, dim lighting made it feel cozy and comfortable. The tables were neatly arranged too, and instead of a chaotic or overly busy atmosphere, it had a calm feel that was great for eating and chatting.

When looking for somewhere to eat in Nonhyeon-dong, the taste of the food matters, but a nice atmosphere like this makes the place stick in your memory even more.

## Is there parking at Boktae Pocha?

Boktae Pocha does not have on-site parking. If you're visiting by car, you'll need to use a nearby paid parking lot. Let me put this parking info up front since it's important to know before you go!

There are paid parking lots nearby, so if you're driving, it's a good idea to check where you'll park ahead of time. If you show up assuming there's parking on site, you might be caught off guard, so please keep this in mind!

## How do the soju-steamed clams taste, and how big is the portion?

The clam hot pot (bajirak jogaesuljjim) that arrived first looked hearty right away. The pot was packed generously with clams, and the broth came out piping hot — a satisfying first dish.

Picking the clams out one by one was fun, and eating the broth alongside them left my stomach feeling comfortably settled, which I liked even more. The broth had that clean, refreshing clam flavor, without being heavy or overly seasoned, so I kept spooning it up. The umami from the clams soaked into the broth, making this a great order for a day when you're craving something warm and brothy.

The clams weren't fishy at all and were easy to eat cleanly. Picking out the shells one by one to get to the meat inside was fun enough that I lost track of time and kept reaching in. The portion was more generous than I expected too — plenty for several people to share.

## What is the teriyaki-grilled chicken neck like to eat?

Boktae Pocha's teriyaki chicken thigh grill came out grilled to a golden-brown and glossy, looking delicious right away. After eating the clam hot pot, I was even more excited for the chicken thigh grill we'd ordered alongside it.

Chicken thigh (dakmokssal) has that chewy texture that sets it apart from regular chicken, and it's such an appealing cut. Boktae Pocha's version was wonderfully tender and chewy rather than dry. The edges especially were grilled slightly golden, adding a nutty, savory note, and the more I chewed, the more I could taste the clean chicken flavor.

The teriyaki sauce wasn't overly sweet either, which let the savory flavor of the chicken thigh come through. If you love the chewy texture that's unique to chicken thigh, this dish is a must-try.

The clam hot pot: refreshing and warm. The chicken thigh grill: savory and chewy. Two dishes with very different charms, and ordering them together made for a great combination.

## Which Boktae Pocha dishes to try next visit

The clam hot pot and teriyaki chicken thigh grill are a perfect combo when you want one brothy dish and one grilled dish together. With such a varied menu, next time I'd also like to try other popular items like the cheese potato pancake or the boneless chicken hot pot.

If you're looking for a good-atmosphere restaurant in Nonhyeon-dong with tasty warm dishes, I'd recommend Boktae Pocha. The clam hot pot had a refreshing broth and a generous helping of clams, and the chicken thigh grill had a chewy texture and savory flavor that made for a very satisfying meal :)

One last reminder on parking: Boktae Pocha has no on-site parking, so you'll need to use a nearby paid parking lot! If you're planning to visit by car, please keep this in mind for a smooth visit :)
