Every time I passed through Gangnam, I noticed this place packed with customers during lunch hour, and I'd always been curious about it — 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch! There were always so many people whenever I walked by, so I finally got the chance to visit in person on a weekday evening. It's also just a 2-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 3, so it's really easy to get to!

## Ordering at 1992 Deopbap: kiosk order, self-pickup

As soon as you walk in, there's a kiosk right on the left where you can easily order whatever you want! Once your order is complete, you get an order number, and when the food is ready you go pick it up yourself. It's a self-service system, so the whole dining process was pretty simple.

## Inside 1992 Deopbap: solo seats, tables for four and a water wheel

The interior had a really diverse range of seating! From tables for four where groups can sit together to solo seats perfect for eating alone, it seemed like a good spot to visit with friends or family, and also felt totally fine for eating solo.

The interior design also had a distinctly Korean feel. In particular, there was a water wheel turning in the back, which was oddly fun to watch haha. When I visited on a weekday evening, I was able to sit down right away haha.

## What we ordered at 1992 Deopbap and what it cost

I wanted to eat properly and generously that day, so I ordered quite a bit.

- Meat-packed jjageuli ₩13,500
- Spicy add-on ₩500
- Ramyeon noodles ₩2,000
- Steamed egg ₩2,500
- Bite-sized beef yukjeon ₩8,900

That counts as eating properly, right? Haha.

While waiting after ordering, they announce your order number with sound and on a screen. Once my number came up, I just went to grab the food myself haha.

Finally, today's food arrived!

## Meat-packed jjageuli, spicy version with ramyeon noodles added

First up, the meat-packed jjageuli (a bubbling Korean stew) I was most looking forward to! I added ramyeon noodles too — doesn't the portion look really generous?

![Meat-packed jjageuli with added ramyeon noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon-11-1u2a9-900.webp)

The ramyeon noodles are thin, so the jjageuli broth soaked in between them nicely and tasted great! By the way, even half a portion of ramyeon is quite a lot, so I'd recommend just half haha. Worried I'd finish the broth too fast, I pushed the noodles aside for a bit and took a closer look at the jjageuli.

![Inside the jjageuli showing meat, tofu, kimchi, zucchini, and potato](https://img.superchart.com/images/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon-13-1j7zj-900.webp)

Looking inside, there were all kinds of ingredients — meat, tofu, kimchi, zucchini, and potato. Just eating this alone would already be pretty filling — the ingredients were generous! I ordered it spicy, and personally it wasn't as spicy as I expected. It felt like a level of spiciness that even people who aren't great with spicy food could try!

## How to eat jjageuli: mix the rice bowl with sesame oil and seaweed flakes

There's apparently a specific way to eat the jjageuli here. It's to put sesame oil and seaweed flakes into the rice bowl, then top it with jjageuli and mix it all together!

![Rice bowl topped with a fried egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon-15-q3f3t-900.webp)

I put sesame oil and seaweed flakes on the rice, added the jjageuli, and mixed it all up — and eating it this way, the rich flavor of the jjageuli blended perfectly with the rice for a completely different feel! Best of all, there was a fried egg on top of the rice too, so mixing in the yolk made it even tastier haha. If you come here, you have to try eating it this way at least once! Eating it with rice instead of just the jjageuli alone definitely felt like a more filling meal.

Side dishes came along with it too, which were nice to have in between bites.

## Steamed egg for 2,500 won, to soften the jjageuli's saltiness

Even though there was already a fried egg on the rice, I'm a steamed egg lover who just can't skip it, so I added steamed egg too haha. When it arrived, it was completely soft-style with a good amount of broth.

The steamed egg itself wasn't heavily seasoned, so it went really well alongside the jjageuli. Since the jjageuli is on the saltier side, having a bite of steamed egg in between balanced out the saltiness nicely! I personally love this kind of soft steamed egg, so it was right up my alley. If you like steamed egg and you're ordering jjageuli, I'd say adding it on is a good idea!

![Bite-sized beef yukjeon served as three pieces](https://img.superchart.com/images/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon/gangnam-1992-spicy-jjagle-beef-jeon-20-1lqet-900.webp)

## Bite-sized beef yukjeon, 8,900 won for three pieces

Lastly, the bite-sized beef yukjeon (pan-fried beef patty)! It's called "bite-sized," but it came as three pieces. Aren't they actually a pretty big size for something called bite-sized haha?

I really love yukjeon, so it was one of the side dishes I was most looking forward to, and eating it warm confirmed that yukjeon really is never a bad choice! Eating it warm brought out a soft, nutty flavor that went great alternating bites with the jjageuli haha. They seem to have a variety of jeon (pan-fried dishes) among the side menu, so if you like yukjeon, I'd recommend trying the bite-sized beef yukjeon too!

## Is 1992 Deopbap worth a return visit for a solo meal in Gangnam?

After finishing the jjageuli with ramyeon, steamed egg, and yukjeon, I was properly, completely full!! I'd always wondered why this place was so busy whenever I passed by, and after eating here myself, I could kind of understand why so many people come during lunch hour!

In particular, with everything from solo seats to seating for groups, it seemed like a solid option when looking for a solo meal spot near Gangnam Station. It's a great place to visit when you want familiar, filling Korean food like deopbap (rice bowls) or jjageuli. Whether you want something simple near Gangnam Station or a big, hearty meal, it seems like a place where you can pick and choose your menu.

You could load up your jjageuli with extras like I did, or next time I'd like to try the deopbap menu too :) If you're near Gangnam Station looking for a solo meal or a hearty Korean dish, give 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch a try!
