Inside, the space is done up in dark tones throughout, with stone, wood, and lighting all neatly arranged. There are no bar seats — it's all table seating — and the floor-to-ceiling windows made it nice to eat while looking out at the street.

The lighting isn't too bright, which made for a great atmosphere for an evening meal with wine or whiskey.

As soon as we sat down, they served beet-infused water — I really liked that touch.

## Highball in a Riedel glass and the minari syrup non-alcoholic cocktail

On this visit at N.G.T we ordered a highball and a minari (water dropwort) syrup non-alcoholic cocktail. The first thing I personally liked here was the glass and the sparkling water.

They use Riedel glasses and Singha sparkling water, and details like that gave me the sense that they put real thought into the drinks. You can also choose whether to have your highball dry or with syrup, which I liked too. I tend to like places where guests can adjust the sweetness or balance themselves, so this was a nice touch.

The minari syrup non-alcoholic cocktail doesn't hit you with a strong minari aroma — it comes through gently. Overall it felt like a kind of Korean-style mojito made with Korean ingredients, and the minari's distinct scent paired surprisingly well with the carbonation, so it ended up being quite tasty.

## The tofu ricotta starter salad that comes with every drink order

At N.G.T, ordering alcohol comes with a pre-meal salad first. It arrives with tofu ricotta cheese and a mix of vegetables — the cheese was nicely nutty and a little salty, which balanced well when eaten with the vegetables.

I honestly liked this a lot. It felt less like a simple complimentary salad and more like a small amuse-bouche. Looking at the menu, I saw this salad can also be ordered in a large size — a good option if you're looking for something light to nibble on while drinking.

## Spicy lamb rib stew at N.G.T: how gamey does the lamb taste?

The most memorable dish at N.G.T that day was the spicy lamb rib stew. We originally planned to order just one dish, but once it arrived, the portion was substantial.

It looks generous even in photos, and in person there's plenty of both meat and vegetables. Best of all, the distinct smell you often get with lamb was barely noticeable. Lamb can sometimes feel like a lot because of that characteristic odor, but this stew had almost none of it.

The tomato-based stew had a moderate spiciness, and with the vegetables and lamb mingling together, the broth itself was really tasty. The meat was very tender, easy to cut with a fork and eat alongside the vegetables, and the mashed potatoes served with it were particularly great.

Dipping the smoothly made mashed potatoes lightly into the stew broth brought out spicy, soft, and umami-rich tomato flavors all at once, and it went really well together. This was personally the most memorable dish of the day — a bit different from lamb dishes you commonly find, and one I'll remember as something I had at N.G.T.

## Is N.G.T worth it as a bar near Gireum Station in Seoul?

The food quality at N.G.T was noticeably better than expected. Just looking at the spicy lamb rib stew alone, it felt less like a simple drinking snack and more like a properly made dish.

In a different way from fine dining where you take small bites of many dishes, this let us feel fully satisfied from a single dish. The service throughout was quite good, and it felt like they put care into the food, the drinks, and the space all together.

If you're looking for a good bar near Gireum Station, or somewhere nearby to have a proper meal alongside wine or whiskey, this is one I'd personally keep in mind. Above all, I think I'd order the spicy lamb rib stew again if I went back. It was a nice surprise to find a place like this near Gireum Station.
