That kind of weather makes me crave warm soup, so I went solo to Bongpyeong Gohyang Makguksu, famous for kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) in Wondang, haha. ## Is there a wait at Bongpyeong Gohyang Makguksu on a Sunday afternoon, and where do you park? I wondered if eating alone would feel awkward, but the atmosphere was so relaxed that it turned out to be an unnecessary worry! It was a comfortable place for solo dining too, haha. Before the dishes came out I scooped myself a cup of warm noodle water and drank it. Felt like it settled my stomach right down, haha. ## Buckwheat pancake: thin and crisp with a salty soy dipping sauce The buckwheat pancake at Bongpyeong Gohyang Makguksu came out thinner than expected, not thick at all, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy. The soy dipping sauce for the pancake was pleasantly salty, and it warmed up my appetite nicely before the perilla buckwheat kalguksu arrived. ## Perilla buckwheat kalguksu: thick perilla broth with ongsimi (potato dumplings) For the main dish, the perilla buckwheat kalguksu — I tried the broth first with a spoon, and it was thick with a deep, rich perilla aroma. The broth was thick and rich, so I got really full, haha. After finishing the whole bowl, I felt satisfyingly stuffed.
