## In short

Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Achasan-ro in Gwangjin, Seoul, near Gangbyeon Station and Gueui-dong, grilling domestic grade 1+ female pork on a cast-iron pot-lid grill. Two diners stopped in after work and ordered two servings of samgyeopsal (pork belly), one serving of pork neck and a cold naengmyeon to finish, with unlimited greens from the self-serve vegetable bar. The round oil-splash shield around the grill and the staff grilling service meant no worry about oil on clothes — good value for a Seoul Korean BBQ.

With how expensive eating out has gotten lately, filling up on samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) without wincing at the bill is honestly rare. Good meat means scary prices, and cheap meat often means off smells or a stingy veggie plate — I've been let down more than once.

I stopped by after work looking for a solid protein fix and fell for both the meat quality and the unlimited veggie bar at a Gueui-dong spot. Here's my review of Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch (상구네솥뚜껑삼겹살 구의강변점), where you can enjoy domestic grade 1+ female pork at a reasonable price! ✨

## The round oil-splash shield on the pot-lid grill: no oil on your clothes

The grills at Sanggu's Gueui Branch have a round oil-splash shield circling the big cast-iron lid grill. It meant I could sit there without worrying about oil hitting the clothes I actually care about.

![Clean, tidy interior of Sanggu's Gueui Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-05-13z1o-m-900.webp)

The moment I walked in, the place felt pleasantly clean — no slippery, greasy floor like some BBQ joints have.

![Cast-iron lid grill fitted with a round oil-splash shield](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-06-1gnhu-900.webp)

![Table grill surrounded by an oil-splash prevention shield](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-07-1gnjg-900.webp)

What really impressed me was the round oil-splash shield circling the big cast-iron lid grill. I always tie on an apron and still worry about oil or sauce splashing on my clothes, but this shield brought that worry down to zero and let me relax through the whole meal. A small detail, but one that clearly considers the guest's point of view — and it bumped up my overall satisfaction. 👍

## Sanggu's Gueui Branch menu and the 10,000-won lunch sets

Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch runs a ₩10,000 lunch set. It's not a place where you're locked into a set menu only — à la carte ordering is also possible, which made it easy to pick according to headcount.

![Lunch menu board at Sanggu's Gueui Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-08-o3j8n-900.webp)

![Menu listing spicy minari kalguksu and lunch sets](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-09-1c1c9-900.webp)

There's also a reasonably priced lunch lineup — you can get spicy minari kalguksu (water dropwort noodle soup), and for ₩10,000 there's kimchi-jjim, gochujang jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork) set, ganjang jeyuk (soy-marinated stir-fried pork) set, or jjigae (stew) set. Great for an affordable lunch.

![Meat menu board showing the full platter set combo](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-10-1r0n8-900.webp)

There's a full platter set combo too, but you don't have to pick from the initial set — ordering à la carte is totally fine.

So for the two of us, we ordered two servings of samgyeopsal, one serving of pork neck, and one dessert naengmyeon (cold noodles). In the end, we finished everything and left full and satisfied.

![Side menu board listing naengmyeon and steamed egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-12-kl08k-900.webp)

![Menu listing jjigae and fried rice dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-13-ntba5-900.webp)

Side dishes like naengmyeon, steamed egg, jjigae, and fried rice were all available too.

## What's on the unlimited self-serve vegetable bar?

The wrap-veggie corner at Sanggu's Gueui Branch is completely free and unlimited to use. It was stocked with lettuce, perilla leaves, baby cabbage, sliced sweet pumpkin, enoki mushrooms, eggplant, and crunchy green peppers.

The real killing point of this place is definitely the freely-available wrap-veggie corner. With vegetable prices sky-high these days, plenty of places make you feel awkward asking for a few extra perilla leaves — but here, the condition of the produce was so consistently excellent I half-wondered if the owner personally picks it up fresh from Garak Market every dawn.

Lettuce, perilla leaves, and crunchy baby cabbage were the basics, but the lineup went further with sliced sweet pumpkin, enoki mushrooms, eggplant, and crunchy green peppers — perfect for grilling. Nothing was even slightly wilted; every vegetable was packed with natural sweetness and moisture, which had me impressed before the meat even hit the table. 🥬

Since I'm dieting these days ^^, I loaded up on vegetables.

## Two servings of samgyeopsal and one pork neck, grilled for you on the pot lid

We ordered the signature sotttukkeong samgyeopsal, two servings, plus one serving of pork neck. Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch offers a grilling service where staff cook the meat for you from start to finish.

![Raw marbled samgyeopsal and pork neck set on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-17-16u6f-900.webp)

We started with two servings of the signature sotttukkeong samgyeopsal and one serving of the milder pork neck. The moment I saw the bright red meat with tightly threaded marbling, I knew this place was the real deal.

![Samgyeopsal and pork neck grilling on the cast-iron lid](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-18-i4hh4-1200.webp)

On top of that, staff with excellent grilling skills cooked the meat for us from start to finish with real care. With expert hands doing the cooking, we could just relax and focus on conversation.

![Sweet pumpkin and enoki mushrooms grilling alongside the pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-19-6pfnn-900.webp)

![Golden-browned samgyeopsal on the cast-iron lid grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-20-suuce-900.webp)

![A piece of samgyeopsal placed on a cabbage wrap leaf](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-21-etqly-900.webp)

I don't even need to describe the flavor of the sweet pumpkin, eggplant, and enoki mushrooms grilling alongside the pork, soaking up all that rendered fat on the well-heated cast-iron lid. A bite of crisp-outside, juicy-inside pork belly wrapped in fresh cabbage went down smoothly with no greasy aftertaste.

![Mini dessert naengmyeon with ice-flecked broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-22-1e5jy-900.webp)

And of course, no meal is complete without carbs at the end. We didn't hesitate to add a dessert naengmyeon. Don't underestimate it just because it's mini-sized — the noodles were chewy and the ice-flecked broth was wonderfully refreshing.

## Verdict on Sanggu's Gueui Branch, and how to avoid the wait

Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch can get a wait during peak hours. I'd recommend visiting before 6:30pm on weekdays or early evening on weekends.

![Table at Sanggu's Gueui Branch after finishing the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-23-ptzr1-900.webp)

![Full view of the dining hall at Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill/sanggune-guui-riverside-pork-belly-grill-24-pf74f-900.webp)

Pros: unbelievable value for the meat quality, top-tier fresh vegetables you can enjoy without hesitation, friendly grilling service, and the comfort of the oil-splash shield. Peak hours can mean a wait, so I'd recommend going before 6:30pm on weekdays or early evening on weekends!

In a time when wallets are getting thinner, a place that generously serves this level of quality meat and abundant vegetables feels genuinely rare. If you're looking for a can't-fail dinner or team gathering spot around Gangbyeon Station or Gueui-dong, I highly recommend Sanggu's Gueui Branch.
