Apparently Bueokgan Sangmu Branch was designed with a vintage classic Italian hotel concept, inspired by the Titanic's ballroom. I didn't know this beforehand, so the moment I walked in and saw how pretty the interior was, I was like, "What is this place?" lol 🤍 The overall atmosphere felt luxurious yet vintage, so it felt less like coming for a meal and more like visiting a beautiful space to hang out. Every corner had that classic mood, so it was great for photos 📸✨ The menu ranges from pizza to gnocchi to pasta, so it seemed like a spot that people looking for a Sangmu district brunch spot or a Sangmu district pasta spot would come to as well. Water was brought right away too, so we could relax and browse the menu :) Even though it was a weekday, there were way more customers than I expected! The age range was diverse, from 20s to 30s to 40s, with groups of friends and families alike, so it seemed like a spot people visit for dates, gatherings, or family meals haha. With pizza, gnocchi, and pasta all on the menu, it looked like a good stop whether you're after a Sangmu district brunch spot or a Sangmu district pasta spot. We started with the basil margherita pizza 🍕🌿 True to a margherita, it had tomato sauce, cheese, and basil, giving it an overall clean and bright flavor. The subtle basil aroma paired especially well with the savory cheese! Tabasco sauce came out alongside the pizza too 🌶️ — it was delicious plain, but a light drizzle of Tabasco added a spicy-tangy kick that gave it a whole different feel haha. The pizza itself wasn't a heavy style, so it paired nicely with the gnocchi. And of course, pizza tastes best right when it comes out!! The gnocchi had a chewy yet soft texture that went perfectly with the cream sauce. The mushroom flavor combined with the truffle aroma gave it a richer, more upscale feel than a regular cream gnocchi! The cream sauce also suited the gnocchi really well, so scooping up plenty of sauce with each bite was delicious haha. Personally, out of everything we ate that day, the truffle mushroom cream gnocchi was the one that stuck with me most 🤍 If you like rich, creamy dishes, you'll enjoy this one!
