## In short

Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch is a Korean restaurant (한정식, traditional set-course meal) three minutes on foot from Exit 4 of Balsan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. The writer ordered the Korean set for two (₩46,000) and got a table filled with beef seaweed soup, cockle bibim, beef jeon, and grilled mackerel plus stir-fried pork and japchae, and checked out the 6–20 and 9–12 person private rooms and free parking for 77 cars. If you're driving: search for "Mikodam Balsan Branch" or "42 Gangseo-ro 54-gil" and park in the building next to the restaurant. Get a parking receipt from the attendant and exchange it for a parking pass at the restaurant. Parking is free.

On foot: it's a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Balsan Station.

Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch is right by Balsan Station, so it's super easy to get to, and it's also close to Magok and Deungchon-dong, making it great for family gatherings or company dinners. With 77 parking spots in the building, it's a restaurant you can visit without worrying about parking at all!

## Interior and seating (hall / rooms)

The moment I stepped into Mikodam

> Wow, this is really classy — I could bring my parents here

is what I thought, haha. Officially crowned my number-one restaurant I wouldn't get scolded for bringing my parents to (!). Since it's a Korean set-course place, the menu fits perfectly too. But it's not just for parents — it's a spot that won't fail you for honored guests, matchmaking meetings, or group dinners.

Inside, the hall has seating for 4 or 6, and tables can be combined for even larger groups. The seats have high, cushioned backrests, so they were really comfortable. The tables were also super wide — I was thinking "wow, this table is huge" — and as you'll see soon, that table gets absolutely packed with food, haha.

### Private room capacity and time limits

And Mikodam also has private rooms! There's one that fits 6–20 people and another that fits 9–12 people. Just book through Naver Reservation. However! There are time limits for lunch and dinner slots.

If you want a longer meal, book for 2pm or 7pm — those slots have no time limit, so keep that in mind if you need extra time.

There are separate restrooms for men and women, and above all, they're extremely clean.

## Mikodam's menu and set discounts

![Menu board listing Mikodam's à la carte items](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-06-14tr6-900.webp)

At Mikodam you can order à la carte items like seaweed soup, cockle bibim, beef jeon, or Jeju soy crab, but since ordering a set gets you a ₩6,000–12,000 discount, I'd recommend going with a set! What we ordered was

> Korean set for two — ₩46.0 (thousand)

## The Korean set for two, laid out

![Ingredient information card placed at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-08-fyyf0-900.webp)

While waiting, I read the ingredient information card placed at the table setting, and knowing they use high-quality ingredients — since good ingredients make good flavor — gave me confidence. My heart was pounding a little..!!

![Table drawer containing utensils and wet wipes](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-09-1d52f-900.webp)

If you open the drawer next to the table, you'll find utensils, a bottle opener, tissues, and wet wipes, and there are paper cups next to the tablet. There's also a review event where you get a free rolled egg (gyeranmari), so keep that in mind 🤍

![Full spread of the Korean set for two filling the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-10-1h1il-1200.webp)

And finally, the full spread arrived!!!! The table was seriously packed, haha. Everything was served neat and warm. Just looking at it made me full already.

![Table with stir-fried pork, japchae, and grilled mackerel](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-11-2lmtk-900.webp)

Stir-fried pork, salad, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), a whole grilled mackerel

![Plates of beef jeon, beef seaweed soup, cockle bibim, and seasoned vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-12-16k60-900.webp)

Beef jeon (pan-fried beef), beef seaweed soup, cockle bibim, and three seasoned vegetable side dishes

![Side dishes of pickled radish, kimchi, seaweed, and mustard salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-13-1k2xx-900.webp)

Pickled radish, kimchi, seaweed with soy sauce, mustard salad. The side dishes were incredibly elaborate too — almost like a proper old-family table... And having stir-fried pork as just a basic side dish?! Chef, are you sure you have any margin left?!!!! Now let me show you the main dishes.

### Beef seaweed soup

Served piping hot in an earthenware bowl, the pale, rich color of the well-simmered seaweed soup looked so appetizing.

![Earthenware bowl of beef seaweed soup loaded with beef](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-14-1nq9f-900.webp)

It was loaded with plenty of both seaweed and beef. The seasoning wasn't too salty — more on the light, clean side! Sipping a spoonful before and between other dishes warmed me right up, and it was so nice.

### Cockle bibim

![Cockle bibim topped with chives and sesame seeds](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-15-1jov7-900.webp)

Next up, the main dish — cockle bibim. Cockles mixed with a special soy sauce dressing, piled with chives and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Mouth-watering...

![A spoonful of rice topped with cockle bibim](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-16-1u3qi-900.webp)

Piling a generous scoop of cockle bibim onto rice, it felt like being in Beolgyo, the cockle capital of Korea...

The cockles were cooked just right too. Plump, juicy cockles with zero fishy taste and tons of savory flavor — perfect as a side for rice!!!

![Cockle bibimbap made by adding seasoned vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-17-19w7f-900.webp)

We even piled the seasoned vegetables on top of the rice to make our own cockle bibimbap, haha.

### Beef jeon

![Plate of beef jeon pan-fried in egg batter](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-18-1s0hd-900.webp)

My family is a proper Korean-jesa (ancestral rite) household, so I've made beef jeon countless times — and Mikodam's beef jeon is genuinely good... The thickness was just right too, so it wasn't chewy at all, really tender.

![A piece of beef jeon topped with chive salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-19-1ykin-900.webp)

Beef jeon coated in egg and pan-fried, topped with a tangy-sweet chive salad!!!!!!!! Make sure to eat the chive salad together in one bite.

### Grilled mackerel

![A whole grilled Norwegian mackerel](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-20-18fmw-900.webp)

Grilled mackerel, cooked crispy outside and moist inside! It's Norwegian mackerel, and the flesh was really plump and juicy.

![Flaked flesh of the grilled mackerel](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-21-r6nmx-900.webp)

The bones came off easily and the seasoning was just salty enough, so wrapping it in seaweed made it even tastier. Overall it was a beautifully arranged, hearty spread that left me feeling comfortably full.

![Warm roasted corn tea at the dessert corner](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-22-nwfvk-900.webp)

![Plum tea and sikhye set out for guests](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-23-1tbi2-900.webp)

![A cup of coffee served after the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam/balsan-hanjeongsik-private-room-set-mikkodam-24-k9jku-900.webp)

And one really cute touch, haha — they had warm roasted corn tea and plum tea/sikhye/coffee ready, so it was nice to grab a refreshing drink after the meal. Mikodam really felt thoughtful in the small details.

## Overall thoughts on Mikodam

Mikodam, a great Korean restaurant near Balsan Station. On days you want to treat someone to a proper Korean meal, on days you want a hearty meal that feels like healthy home cooking, on days for a family dinner with parents or elders, on days you're craving a good Korean set meal near Balsan Station — this is a place I'd come back to.

It was a restaurant where you can enjoy an elegant, well-rounded meal, whether for a group or a small gathering. Parking is easy too, so if you're looking for a Korean restaurant with parking, keep this one in mind! I was so, so satisfied, haha.
