## In short

Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi is a Korean restaurant on Dongmun-gil in Pungnam-dong, next to Jeonju Hanok Village, serving galbi jeongol (galbi hot pot, also called mulgalbi) and yukjeon (pan-fried beef pancake). Returning at night with her husband, the writer ordered the galbi hot pot set (galbi hot pot plus yukjeon) and found the front-yard parking and the lit-up entrance garden even nicer than on her daytime visit. For a reliable Korean meal near Jeonju Hanok Village with no parking worries, Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi was the answer.

A favorite Jeonju Hanok Village restaurant I visited with my husband. When planning a trip to Jeonju Hanok Village, the two things you always have to think about are finding a genuinely good local Korean restaurant and dealing with parking. This time I visited Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi near the village, a place that nails the taste, atmosphere, and convenience all at once, and I came away thoroughly satisfied.

## What does Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi look like at night?

I'd visited once during the day, but this was my first night visit. Even in daylight the clean exterior stands out, but at night the entrance was lit with sparkling landscaping and warm, pretty lighting that made the whole place feel even more special. It just put me in a good mood.

Most of all — restaurants in and around Hanok Village usually have no parking of their own, so you often end up parking far away in a public lot and walking in. This place, though, has a generous private lot right in its front yard with room for about 5–6 cars or more. That made it a truly standout advantage, especially when visiting with parents or a young child by car, with zero parking stress.

The greenery at the entrance is lovely too.

## Inside Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi: traditional style, modern comfort

Stepping inside, the brick-toned interior is clean and modern overall. At the same time, hanok (traditional Korean house) touches on the ceiling and wall decor give it a cozy, sentimental atmosphere.

The tables are spaced generously and well divided by partitions, with a variety of seating types — group tables, four-tops, and sofa seats — making it a solid choice for family gatherings or date nights alike. There are even baby chairs thoughtfully provided for families with young children, so everyone can eat comfortably.

We settled into our usual spot and the side dishes came out.

## The galbi hot pot set: galbi hot pot plus yukjeon

Once again, we ordered the signature galbi hot pot set.

This is the set that comes with both the mouthwatering mulgalbi (galbi hot pot) and yukjeon.

### Yukjeon: golden outside, tender inside

Before the main hot pot finished cooking, the yukjeon arrived, pan-fried to a golden brown, its nutty aroma filling the air.

Cut into bite-sized pieces with scissors and topped with the tangy chive salad served alongside, it cut right through any richness, leaving just the tender texture of the meat. Wrapping the yukjeon with chives and garlic in a crisp lettuce leaf for one big bite was also fantastic.

It looks a bit like pork cutlet, but it's much softer and far more savory.

The baby chairs and clean interior were nice too — the decor is understated and never feels overdone.

### Galbi hot pot (mulgalbi) with a deep, gently spicy broth

The hot pot arrives packed with bean sprouts, glass noodles, scallions, mushrooms, and big chunks of pork ribs. Once it's simmered down and the seasoning has soaked deep into the meat, the staff cuts the bones from the flesh with scissors — the meat is so tender it practically falls apart.

Taking a bite with the sweet, spicy, savory broth, the crunchy bean sprouts, and the tender pork ribs all together made me let out an involuntary sigh of satisfaction. It's not just spicy for the sake of it — it's a deep flavor that keeps pulling you back in, and I couldn't put my chopsticks down.

Eating it alongside the yukjeon made the meal even more satisfying.

There was a generous amount of bean sprouts too, which I loved.

Unlike some other places, the rice tasted freshly made rather than sitting around — nice and fresh.

Glass noodles are always a win.

The lettuce for wraps was fresh too.

It's the kind of addictive that makes you polish off a whole bowl of rice. Piling the spicy hot pot broth, bean sprouts, and tender galbi meat onto freshly cooked white rice and mixing it all together was truly next-level — a real 'rice thief.' It felt like a waste to leave a single drop of broth behind, so I emptied my bowl in no time.

Try it wrapped in lettuce too ^^

## Final verdict on Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi

Worry-free parking, a place full of atmosphere, and a spicy-sweet, tender mulgalbi paired with savory yukjeon that people of all ages would enjoy — this restaurant satisfied on every front. If you want a hearty, reliably delicious Korean meal in Jeonju Hanok Village, I highly recommend Hanok Maeul Mulgalbi!

The owner was kind, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great!
