Sunday, August 30, 2026. After wrapping up our 1-night, 2-day trip to Eulwangri, we visited Bongga Gyodong Banjeom, a well-known jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) spot near Unseo Station on Yeongjong Island, for lunch before heading home.

There is dedicated parking right in front, so we could park for free and comfortably when arriving by car. The clean, pleasant dining room was quite spacious, with groups dining there too. Each table has a kiosk for ordering.

## What We Ordered and the Basic Table Setting

The menu included fried dishes such as tangsuyuk (Korean sweet-and-sour pork), fried dumplings, coconut shrimp, and menbosha, along with Gyodong jjambbong, spicy meat jjambbong, and jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles).

There were also choices like Chodang soft-tofu jjambbong rice, Gyodong jjambbong rice, spicy meat jjambbong rice, and jjajang rice. It was not an enormous menu, but it had all the classic Chinese-Korean favorites, and rice could be ordered in half portions. That day, we chose

the restaurant's signature extra-large Gyodong jjambbong (₩11,000).

Jjajangmyeon (₩8,000) made with chunjang, black bean paste stir-fried every morning, and mini tangsuyuk (₩13,000) with a crisp coating of aged batter.

Those were the three dishes we ordered.

![The three-dish order](https://img.superchart.com/images/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga-09-12muc-966.webp)

The origins of the ingredients were clearly displayed.

Once the order was in, danmuji (yellow pickled radish), onion, and chunjang arrived as the basic table setting.

If we ran short while eating, we could get more at the self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant. Soon after,

![A full spread of Gyodong jjambbong, jjajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk](https://img.superchart.com/images/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga-12-1ub00-1200.webp)

our food arrived, and the mouthwatering spread had us swallowing hard~!!

## Mini Tangsuyuk That Crumbled Delicately

The first dish we tried was the mini tangsuyuk (₩13,000).

![Mini tangsuyuk with sauce served separately](https://img.superchart.com/images/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga-13-181y4-966.webp)

The sauce came separately. Inside the crisp coating made with aged batter were satisfyingly thick pieces of pork.

Dipped generously in the sweet-and-tangy sauce, it was so delicious. Rather than hard, the crisp coating crumbled softly and delicately—totally my style.

## Jjajangmyeon with a Fried Egg

Next was the jjajangmyeon (₩8,000), and I loved that it came topped with a fried egg from the start.

The thin noodles were springy and chewy, thoroughly coated in a rich, sweet jjajang sauce. It was honestly among the best jjajangmyeon I have had lately, and the noodles were delicious even on their own.

Paired with the savory fried egg, there was simply no way it could taste bad.

## Gyodong Jjambbong for a Post-Trip Hangover

Finally, we tried the restaurant's signature extra-large Gyodong jjambbong (₩11,000).

![Extra-large Gyodong jjambbong](https://img.superchart.com/images/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga-19-1je0s-966.webp)

The chewy, bouncy house-made noodles were excellent, as expected.

The savory depth came from meat and vegetables stir-fried to bring out that smoky wok flavor.

The hot, spicy broth was the perfect hangover food, reviving the organs that were suffering from the drinks the night before.

After diligently picking out the noodles and toppings, we added two half-portions of rice. We mixed one evenly into the jjajang sauce for jjajang rice, and soaked the other in the jjambbong broth.

Eating it as jjambbong rice meant we could enjoy both noodles and rice with one dish.

![Complimentary yogurt dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga/unseo-jajangmyeon-haejang-bongga-24-1xvy1-966.webp)

Then we finished with the complimentary yogurt served to every guest, making for such a satisfying meal. We both said this was the best jjajangmyeon and jjambbong we had eaten lately, so much so that we wished it were near our home. Bongga Gyodong Banjeom, a fantastic jjambbong spot near Unseo Station on Yeongjong Island, was truly delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we will stop by again when we come to Yeongjong Island~!!
