## In short

Backstreet Pizza is a basement pizza restaurant in an alley right behind the pojangmacha (street tent bar) street at Jongno 3-ga in Jongno, Seoul. The Quarter Street R (₩38,000) puts four flavors on one pie — Shrimp Gangster, Cheese & Patty Bomb, Potato Killer and Pepperoni Shotgun — and paired with a Kozel Cinnamon beer (₩8,000), the fries-topped Potato Killer was the unexpected favorite. Backstreet Pizza is a solid choice when you want pizza and beer indoors in Jongno instead of an outdoor tent table.

Jongno pizza — Backstreet Pizza

Today I'm introducing another place I've been back to twice — Backstreet Pizza!

I visited once before and had their shrimp pizza, which was so good I went around recommending it to everyone I know haha. That shrimp pizza kept popping into my head, and since I had plans in Jongno, I decided to stop by again. This time, instead of the same menu as before, I ordered something that let me try several flavors at once. If you're looking for dinner in Jongno and want pizza with a beer, I think this place is a pretty solid option!

## Where is Backstreet Pizza in Jongno, and what are its hours?

- 📍 16-2 Supyo-ro 26-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea, B1 Backstreet Pizza
- ⏰ Mon–Sun 12:00–23:00
- 🚗 No parking ❌
- ✨ Group seating available, takeout, reservations

It's located in the alley right behind the Jongno 3-ga pojangmacha (street tent bar) street, so it's great for a second stop after checking out the tent bars, or for moving over from the Ikseon-dong area.

Backstreet Pizza is located in the basement of a building. On your first visit you might think, 'wait, there's a pizza place here?' — but head into the building and down to the basement and the restaurant appears.

Being tucked into a Jongno-style back alley actually suits the name 'Backstreet Pizza' pretty well haha.

It's especially good to stumble upon while looking for a bar right behind the Jongno 3-ga pojangmacha street.

A lot of people these days look for outdoor tent-style Jongno pizza spots, but this place offers a different vibe — comfortable indoor pizza and beer.

## Is the basement dining room stuffy?

Since Backstreet Pizza is in a basement, I worried at first that the inside might feel cramped, but once I went down it was way more pleasant than expected. None of that typical basement mustiness or dim lighting — everything was clean and well organized.

![Clean, well-organized interior of Backstreet Pizza](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-06-1jy21-900.webp)

There are plenty of tables too, so it works well for a group of friends, and also nice for just two people chatting over pizza.

That's exactly why I think this place works well for a low-pressure Jongno date. Meet up in the evening, wander around Ikseon-dong, then head over to the Jongno 3-ga pojangmacha street for pizza and a beer — that kind of course sounds pretty good.

## What we ordered at Backstreet Pizza and what it cost

Backstreet Pizza's menu ranges from regular size all the way up to large!

- Quarter Street R ₩38,000
- Kozel (Cinnamon) ₩8,000
- Coca-Cola Zero ₩3,000

This time I wanted to try several flavors at once, so I went with the Quarter Street R. One pizza comes with four flavors — Shrimp Gangster, Cheese & Patty Bomb, Potato Killer, and Pepperoni Shotgun — which made it perfect for two people to share.

If you're the type who always agonizes over which flavor to pick when ordering a pizza, this kind of multi-flavor menu is honestly the best haha. We tried each of the four flavors one by one and compared which one was our favorite.

### Shrimp Gangster: the flavor that brought me back

First up, Shrimp Gangster! Honestly, one reason I came back to Backstreet Pizza in the first place was the shrimp pizza I'd had before.

![Slice of Backstreet Pizza's Shrimp Gangster](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-13-46frc-900.webp)

On my first visit, I ordered the shrimp pizza and it was so much better than expected that I went around telling people to try this place's pizza haha.

![Close-up of shrimp topping on the Shrimp Gangster](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-14-8j98o-900.webp)

So this time I started with Shrimp Gangster again. With shrimp on top, you get that springy shrimp texture on the first bite, which paired nicely with the salty pizza base.

Seafood toppings can sometimes make a pizza feel too heavy, but this one wasn't overwhelming at all — a flavor any shrimp lover would enjoy without reservation!

I personally prefer seafood toppings over pizzas loaded only with meat, so Shrimp Gangster really won me over. If it's your first time at Backstreet Pizza, I'd recommend starting with Shrimp Gangster like I did.

### Cheese & Patty Bomb: the meatiest of the four

Next up, Cheese & Patty Bomb! Just from the name it sounds heavy and packed with cheese haha. And sure enough, out of the four, this was the one where the meat and cheese flavors came through the strongest.

![Cheese & Patty Bomb pizza topped with cheese and patty](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-17-13qyp-900.webp)

With a patty on top, it's a completely different feel from the shrimp-topped Gangster! The cheese melding with the meat topping made it salty and savory, and even one slice felt pretty filling.

![Slice of Cheese & Patty Bomb showing the patty topping](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-18-1asec-900.webp)

This flavor definitely pairs better with beer! A sip of beer, then a bite of Cheese & Patty Bomb — the salty, savory combo kept me reaching for more haha. Out of the four, this one had the strongest meat-topping feel, so I'd recommend it to anyone who loves a meat-loaded pizza.

### Potato Killer: sweet and salty with fries on top

And the one that quietly won me over was Potato Killer. True to its name, it's a potato pizza, but with actual french fries piled on top, so it looks different from the others right off the bat.

With fries stacked on the pizza, it feels like eating fries on top of a pizza, and the combo worked better than I expected. The salty flavor unique to potatoes was paired with a touch of sweetness, giving it that sweet-and-salty rhythm.

![Potato Killer pizza topped with french fries](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-20-ycglm-900.webp)

I figured it would just be a plain potato pizza, but I kept reaching for more slices than expected! Since my all-time favorite pizza is bacon potato, this one hit especially well for me hahaha.

![A sweet-and-salty slice of Potato Killer](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-21-12qni-900.webp)

Especially after eating salty flavors like Shrimp Gangster or Pepperoni Shotgun, moving on to Potato Killer brought in that sweetness and shifted the flavor nicely. Of the four flavors, Potato Killer was personally one of my favorites too. If you love potatoes, you have to try this one haha.

### Pepperoni Shotgun: the crowd-pleasing classic

Last up, Pepperoni Shotgun! You can't talk about pizza without pepperoni haha.

![Pepperoni Shotgun piled high with pepperoni](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-22-1n04c-900.webp)

Loaded with pepperoni, it definitely delivered a salty, bold flavor. With cheese and pepperoni together, it's close to the classic pizza flavor we all picture, with pepperoni's distinct salty, slightly oily taste making it especially great with beer.

![A slice combining cheese and pepperoni](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-23-1kck4-900.webp)

Personally, I think pepperoni pizza tastes best eaten hot right away, and with fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza topped with pepperoni, one bite in and you're already craving a beer haha.

![A freshly baked Pepperoni Shotgun pizza](https://img.superchart.com/images/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street/jongno-backstreet-pizza-quarter-street-24-15hw9-900.webp)

Of the four, this is the most familiar flavor, so it should please just about everyone. If you prefer classic pizza over more unusual toppings like shrimp or potato, I'd recommend Pepperoni Shotgun!
