The weather's been getting nicer, perfect for walking haha. I was wandering around Huam-dong the other day and found this bar in Haebangchon called Heui Huam — here's my honest review!

## Where is Heui Huam and when is it open?

Heui Huam is a Western-style bar on the 1st floor at 71 Dutupbawi-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. It's 712m from Sookmyung Women's University Station Exit 2, and it's open Mon, Wed–Sun 17:00–24:00, closed Tuesdays.

Between Sookmyung Women's University Station and Haebangchon, a bit away from the main streets, sits this quietly hidden, atmospheric fusion bar "Heui Huam".

There are waiting seats outside the store too. Signature menu items include Heui pasta (gochujang rosé pasta), Egg in Hell, gambas, mussel soup, dak-doritang (spicy braised chicken), and gochujang/soy-braised chicken. It's an Italian + Korean fusion bar!

## Inside Heui Huam: open kitchen and bar seats

Inside, Heui Huam has an open kitchen and bar seats too. Maybe because it's such a good spot for a meal with drinks in Huam-dong, there were quite a few customers even in the early evening.

They say the name Heui (흐이) carries two feelings: 喜, the joy of being glad, and 唏, the sniffle of crying. It means "a space where joy and sorrow are shared"!

## Kanimiso pasta: crab tomalley with no fishy taste

The kanimiso pasta I ordered at Heui Huam is an 18,000 won dish made with crab tomalley and cream sauce. I figured crab tomalley might make it fishy, but I was surprised — there was no fishy taste at all!

They told me to mix it well before eating.

The cream sauce and crab tomalley blended really well — nutty, deeply savory, and the kind of flavor you keep reaching for. The sauce especially was so good that I kept dragging the noodles through it, and even after finishing the noodles I kept scooping it up with a spoon. I bet it would be amazing dipped with extra bread too!

Instead of just being a heavy cream pasta, the seafood aroma from the crab tomalley cut through it, so I enjoyed it all the way to the last bite. The shrimp and crab were plump and delicious too haha.

## Egg in Hell: mild enough for people who can't take spice

Heui Huam's Egg in Hell is ₩20,000, with a slight spiciness that cuts the richness and makes it even more delicious. But it's not too spicy, so even people who can't handle heat can eat it without worry!

The tangy-sweet tomato sauce with a kick of spice made it the kind of dish you keep going back for. It's even better with sauce piled onto bread!! Between the pasta and the Egg in Hell, this place is a sauce powerhouse...🥹

## Is Heui Huam worth a visit?

Heui Huam, a quiet neighborhood-hideout-style bar between Sookmyung Women's University Station and Haebangchon. It's also a great spot for just a regular meal haha. The food was so good I definitely want to come back again!!
