I usually love styles with clear, defined layers, but this time I wanted both a high layered cut and the light, hip feel of a shag cut. I went in torn between the two, but after consulting, I found out I didn't have to pick just one — she could cut it so both a high layered look and a shag look were possible depending on how I styled it. What I wanted was hair where the layers were clearly visible, but I didn't want a style that was a nightmare to maintain every day either. She was really meticulous while cutting, and along the way she kept telling me how to take care of it at home and how to blow-dry it so the layers show off nicely. What I personally loved about this was that it never felt like she was lecturing me on how I had to do it — it felt more like she was helping me be able to manage it comfortably at home myself. With the layers clearly built in, even just wearing my hair down doesn't look flat — there's volume throughout. My favorite part was the line where the layers fall naturally when viewed from the side. If I style it a bit more calmly, it gives off a feminine, natural high layered cut feel, and if I play up the layers and texture a bit more, it gives off a light, hip shag cut feel — I loved being able to get two different vibes out of one haircut. ## Is this Seongsu cut easy to style at home? Of course it looks great at the salon since the designer blow-dries it for you, but the real question is whether I can recreate it myself at home lol. So when getting a cut, whether it's easy to maintain at home is important to me, and I appreciated that designer Sangyeon kept giving me care and styling tips along the way. She didn't just cut it prettily and call it done — she also told me how to manage it on my own afterward, which made me so much more satisfied! ## Before and after the cut at Toni&Guy Seongsu The difference is much clearer side by side. The length wasn't drastically cut, but adding the layers made the whole look way lighter, and it fell naturally around my face in a way I really liked. Best of all was that I could get both the high layered look and the shag look I originally wanted haha.
