## In short

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch is an all-you-can-eat cypress-steamed meat and shabu-shabu restaurant on the 8th floor of a building in Cheoncheon-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon. Diners pick their broth on a tablet, and this visit paired katsuobushi with mala broth for the cypress-steamed meat, then loosened the bone-broth base with mala sauce for shabu-shabu before boiling porridge in the leftover mala broth. If you like a spicy mala combination, the mala broth at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch is the one to order.

On a day when I really wanted to just chow down — but maybe with a tiny bit of health mixed in? — I went looking for all-you-can-eat spots in Cheoncheon-dong, Suwon, and ended up at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch!

## Where is Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch, and where do you park?

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch is on the 8th floor of a building at 11-7 Manseok-ro 19beon-gil, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Hours are 11:00-22:00 (last order 21:00), and it's closed every Tuesday.

- Free street parking during lunch hours, 12:00-14:00

It's between Starfield and Seongdae Station! Also close to Sungkyunkwan University's campus and Dongnam Health University, so access seems pretty good.

It's on the 8th floor of the building, with basement parking available! The space is genuinely huge and super comfortable — totally works for a company dinner or a group gathering.

## Choosing the broth on the tablet: katsuobushi plus mala

At Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch, you sit down and first order your broth on a tablet. I went with katsuobushi + mala broth!

Once you order, they bring the steamer over first! While you wait for the steaming timer, do the exciting self-bar tour, haha!!

## What's on the self-bar at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch?

This is the shabu-shabu and spring roll (wollamssam) corner! There's kalguksu (noodle soup), fish cake, dumplings, kimchi, and so much more, plus a huge variety of vegetables — already getting excited for the shabu-shabu 🤤

And there's an extra sauce lineup like this! Perfect for when the shabu-shabu or steamed meat starts feeling a little rich and you need something to cut through it. I grabbed some wasabi here.

And on the other side!! There's tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), spicy stir-fried pepper strips, fried snacks, cold soba, and more. First time I've seen a place with cold soba! Good with watermelon for a cool summer bite too.

There are aprons, lemon water, iced americano, and roasted barley tea as well. The iced americano paired surprisingly well, so my mom and I kept going back for refills!

Snacks to nibble while waiting for the steamer 😽🤩 The stir-fried pepper strips were tasty and there were so many sauce options for the fried snacks, it was great to munch before the cypress-steamed meat even arrived.

## Cypress-steamed meat with wasabi and cheongyang chili soy sauce

They give you chili, peanut, and soy sauces at the table. Pro tip: grab some cheongyang chili from the wasabi and spring roll vegetable corner earlier! It's amazing mixed into the soy sauce. Once you've got all this prepped~!

The cypress-steamed meat is done!!!! The lean meat and fat were mixed in just the right ratio — so tender and clean-tasting.

Eaten with wasabi, it's ridiculously good.

## Can you adjust how strong the mala broth is?

The mala broth at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch comes out as a bone broth base, with the mala sauce served separately so you can adjust the intensity yourself. And because it's a bone-broth base, it genuinely tastes like real mala-tang 🤤

Eating it plain and making spring rolls with it, the cypress-steamed meat runs out eventually — a little sad, but there's so much still to enjoy with shabu-shabu that I moved straight on to that. Just taste as you go and thin it out little by little!

Then they bring over the meat and vegetables for shabu-shabu. I loved that there was fried tofu (yubu) too! Add all the vegetables in, let it boil a bit, then slowly fish everything out — a slightly punchier flavor than the cypress-steamed meat! Closer to mala-tang than hot pot.

All-you-can-eat mala-tang that you boil yourself... I seriously ate a whole bowlful.

## Finishing the meal with porridge in the mala broth

And once you've had the K-dessert-worthy shabu-shabu, you've got to have porridge, right? I couldn't resist the mala broth + porridge combo, so I boiled up porridge right away.

If you order the mala broth, I definitely recommend finishing it off with porridge cooked in that broth.. I thought I was already full but I kept shoveling it in like a champ 🤤🤤

> The owner and staff were so kind and the restaurant was so comfortable that I left in a really good mood.

If you're looking for an all-you-can-eat restaurant in Cheoncheon-dong, Suwon, or a spot for a group gathering or company dinner in the area, I highly recommend this one!
