Let me introduce a gukbap (soup with rice) spot in Jongno, Daegu ✨️ It's been picked for the Blue Ribbon guide for a whopping 12 years straight, so I went in with high expectations — and sure enough, thumbs up 👍 Eating a hot bowl on a chilly day left me feeling full and restored. If you're looking for a gukbap place near Jungangno Station, let me share my visit to Hanwoojang.

### Q. Where do you park at Hanwoojang in Jongno, Daegu?

A. There's no dedicated lot, but there are several paid parking lots nearby. I used Taesan Private Parking Lot myself — it's close and the price is reasonable (₩2,000 per hour).

## Inside Hanwoojang: the dining room and self-serve bar

![Hanwoojang interior with wide table spacing](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-04-m9guc-900.webp)

The interior is neat and tidy, with wide table spacing and a roomy layout that makes for a comfortable meal.

I made sure not to photograph other diners' tables, but you can still feel how spacious it is, right? Thanks to that, it's a comfortable place to eat solo, too — quite a few people were dining alone.

Extra side dishes like diced radish kimchi, kimchi, anchovies, and peppers are all self-serve, and the kimchi and diced radish kimchi pair so well with the soup that you'll end up going back for seconds 🫠

## Hanwoojang menu and what we ordered

![Hanwoojang gukbap menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-07-18uu2-900.webp)

Seolleongtang, ttaro-gukbap, oxtail soup, doganitang, ox head gomtang, yangtang. There were so many kinds of gukbap, but that day I was craving a hot, rich gomtang (bone broth soup) simmered from ox bones, so I ordered without a second thought haha.

- 🏷 Yangtang: ₩15,000

## Yangtang, 15,000 won: a bowl packed with beef tripe

![A quickly served bowl of gomtang at Hanwoojang](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-09-o94y7-900.webp)

This gomtang was ready right after we ordered. It came out so fast there was barely time to wait — perfect for a quick bite during lunch hour or whenever you're short on time ❣️

Here's the yangtang I chose.

![Hanwoojang yangtang packed with beef tripe](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-11-heg9h-900.webp)

It's packed with soyang, meaning ox stomach. I loved this part as a kid whenever we made gomtang at home, so seeing it piled in there already had me excited 😍

![Long, large chunks of beef tripe](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-12-1uuhj-900.webp)

The pieces were long and pretty sizable — almost too big to fit in one bite. Cutting them with scissors made it much easier to eat haha.

Soft yet chewy — totally my kind of texture 🫶 A lot of people skip this cut because of how it looks, but it's genuinely delicious. If you like makchang or gopchang (grilled intestines), you'll probably devour this just like I did haha.

![Rich, clear broth of the yangtang](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-14-1pqcv-900.webp)

The broth is rich and deep with a clean finish 👍 It's barely seasoned, so you can add pepper, salt, or dadaegi (spicy sauce) to taste depending on your preference. I liked the plain, savory original flavor so much that I just ate it as is, and it was more than enough.

![Kimchi and diced radish kimchi served alongside the gukbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-15-p3p26-900.webp)

Among the side dishes, the kimchi and diced radish kimchi were especially amazing paired with the gomtang 👏👏 They satisfied both my friend, who prefers fresh unfermented kimchi, and me, who loves sour kimchi — so of course we went back for more ☺️

## Teuk-seolleongtang, 13,000 won: double the meat and noodles

This is the teuk-seolleongtang (special ox bone soup) my friend had. It's the basic seolleongtang with extra meat and noodles added!

![Hanwoojang's teuk-seolleongtang with extra meat and noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-19-1n0fa-900.webp)

![Teuk-seolleongtang loaded with brisket](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-20-8fmka-900.webp)

It's loaded with tender brisket haha.

![Double portion of noodles in the teuk-seolleongtang](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-21-qbts-900.webp)

And the noodles are, needless to say, double the amount 😉 You know how the noodles in seolleongtang just disappear when you slurp them up with the broth, right? Haha.

![Mixing dadaegi into the seolleongtang](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-22-tybcb-900.webp)

![Finishing off a bowl of Hanwoojang gukbap](https://img.superchart.com/images/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang/hanwoojang-daegu-jongno-gukbap-yangtang-23-14g10-900.webp)

My friend, who kept saying dadaegi is essential for gukbap and mixed plenty in, said it was the best gukbap she's had in Daegu. Trustworthy as ever, this Blue Ribbon spot 😋 If you're near Jungangno Station looking for gukbap or a simple but filling meal, I'd recommend a bowl of gomtang at Hanwoojang ❗️
