## A café-like interior behind an unassuming exterior

The outside of Doseogwan Dwitjip. I was surprised by how calm the sign looked for a Chinese restaurant. The understated sign only made me more curious. 😊

Walking in through the pretty floor-to-ceiling glass entrance♡

True to its name, this Chinese restaurant sits right behind a library — hence Doseogwan Dwitjip, literally "house behind the library." But inside, there are lots of books and a pretty wood interior, so it felt more like a café. This is honestly the prettiest Chinese restaurant I've ever seen 🙂

## What solo sets are on the menu?

Personally, what I liked most about Doseogwan Dwitjip is how many solo sets they offer — for a reasonable price you can pair tangsuyuk with a noodle dish or with a rice dish. ♡ There's hot pepper jjamppong and hot pepper jjajang for spice lovers, plus sundubu jjamppong, so there's plenty to enjoy. ♡

## Tasting the hot pepper jjamppong and sundubu jjamppong rice sets

First, the hot pepper jjamppong ♡♡ Fresh vegetables, shrimp, and julienned peppers go into this one ♡ It wasn't unbearably spicy, just pleasantly hot, so it went down easily ♡ Most of all, the noodles were really soft and slightly thinner than usual, which felt new — totally my type, personally. Since I can handle spicy food really well, I think it would have tasted even better a bit spicier. 😉

Second, the sundubu jjamppong rice ♡ Eating the smoky sundubu together with the jjamppong broth was really appealing — the soft tofu was subtly infused with the broth's flavor, and it was genuinely delicious. 😙 Mixing it into the rice and taking a bite, it had that addictive taste that kept pulling me back ❤️

The tangsuyuk had really crispy batter with tender meat inside — delicious. The sauce was nice and sweet, very very good ♡ It looks like a small portion but it definitely isn't ha — by the time you finish the jjamppong and get to the tangsuyuk you're already pretty full, so that amount is just right ♡

## Is Doseogwan Dwitjip worth a visit?

- A Chinese restaurant that's easy to find, right behind Cheongdeok Library — true to its name, it sits behind Cheongdeok Library, giving it a distinctive location. A good option if you're looking for a place to eat around Guseong-dong or Cheongdeok-dong.
- Made-in-house noodles that are thin and soft — it sells familiar Chinese dishes like jjajangmyeon and jjamppong, but the self-made noodles are the highlight. Worth a visit if you like noodle dishes.
- A wide range from basic meals to cooked dishes — beyond jjajang, jjamppong, and fried rice, there's also tangsuyuk and pan-fried dumplings, so there's plenty of choice. Good for sharing several dishes together, and the solo sets also make it easy to eat alone.
- Convenient to visit with kids — with children's jjajang and kids' tableware ready, dining with young children felt low-stress. Useful to know when planning a family meal out.
- A clean, comfortable atmosphere to dine in — cleaner and cozier than your typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, making it comfortable whether for a quick meal or dining with family.
- Recommend using the Technovalley parking lot — the road in front of the store is narrow and parking isn't very generous, so if you're driving, the Technovalley lot is the better option.
