I was looking for a nice-atmosphere sashimi restaurant in Millak-dong when I found The Bangpaje. I'd been wanting to come for ages, and I'm finally here! Let me introduce it right away. 💗

Each floor at The Bangpaje serves a different purpose. The first floor has tables — a casual space to enjoy à la carte dishes like assorted sashimi or mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and course meals. The second floor has private rooms for small gatherings and course meals. The third floor is a banquet hall suited to group gatherings and events.

First floor tables / second floor dining rooms for larger parties / third floor banquet hall for gatherings and family events — each floor can seat a real crowd, which gave the whole place a high-end feel.

By the entrance they had the parking info and menu board out where you could easily check them :-)

## What is the interior like at The Bangpaje?

We were seated on the first floor of The Bangpaje, and the interior was divided into private-feeling sections, cozy and nice. The hanok-style interior gave it an upscale, well-treated feeling.

The first floor had five 4-seat tables and an 8-seat group table, all glowing under warm lighting with high-end wood-tone furnishings.

Even the stairs going up looked fancy ✨

Inside there was a tub-like space with a fish tank — I'd never seen anything like it, so cool haha. Made me wonder how fresh the fish must be 🙊✨

The Bangpaje's menu is split into mulhoe, bibimbap, rice bowls, stews and cooked dishes. The seasonal assorted sashimi set comes in S ₩58,000 (1-2 people), M ₩78,000 (2-3 people), and L ₩98,000 (3-4 people).

There were so many types of meals, and I liked that there were cooked dishes, stews, and even a kids' menu.

## What comes with the set and how the table is laid

They gave us a hygienically wrapped set of utensils and an appetizer of rice soaked in warm water, which was a nice, warming start.

They also gave us wet wipes for each person,

and each table had sashimi soy sauce, chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), Sichuan pepper, and small plates set out.

For condiments they neatly set out ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and minced garlic, wasabi and garlic sauce, and aged kimchi.

We ordered the seasonal assorted sashimi set for 2-3 people. The sashimi came as flounder, hiramasa, and sea bass. The plating was pretty and tidy, and even the way the vegetables were arranged was so cute haha.

### The side dishes, from marinated shrimp to free gizzard shad

The basic banchan came out generously filling the whole table — marinated shrimp, spicy seasoned crab, sweet potato chips, fried doenjang seaweed, grilled vinegar mackerel, gimbap, a free side of gizzard shad, sea cucumber and sea squirt, and fish stew — really packed with variety ✨✨

Every single banchan was so delicious

Especially that grilled vinegar mackerel — light, savory, and delicious, and the gimbap had fresh salmon inside too. 🤍🍣

The marinated shrimp was plump with great texture and well-seasoned — delicious.

They gave us another free serving of gizzard shad, which I love, and my parents happily ate the sea cucumber and sea squirt that I can't eat..

The spicy seasoned crab was really strongly seasoned so it was only manageable eaten together with rice 🥺

Dipping the sashimi generously in chojang and eating it with aged kimchi — that's basically an aged-kimchi sashimi wrap 🤍✨

We also wrapped it up neatly in lettuce wraps~~

The banchan spread was really substantial, and the sashimi — flounder, sea bass, hiramasa — was all perfect.

## Finishing the meal with spicy fish stew (maeuntang)

After finishing all the sashimi, they immediately boiled up the spicy fish stew. It'd probably be even better with some Sichuan pepper powder added depending on taste — it was spicy, refreshing, and clear. Absolute rice thief..🤍🫠

You're not done until you finish the rice too, and wrapping up the meal with the delicious stew left me full and satisfied.

Good food in a great atmosphere — couldn't ask for more. And with Gwangan Bridge stretched out right in front, it made The Bangpaje even prettier and more impressive~ 🤍
