While planning a trip to Sokcho with my kid, I figured famous food is great, but I wanted to check out this Bultan Gamja Bread bakery café that locals apparently recommend. With a 16-month-old, the first thing I check before picking any café or restaurant these days is whether there's something the baby can eat too.

This place turned out to be great for a light snack while traveling, and also satisfying as a gift. If you're looking for potato bread in Sokcho, it's worth a stop.

Even though I visited on a public holiday, there was plenty of parking, so I didn't have any trouble getting in.

The exterior is decorated in cute pop-art style, so even from a distance you can immediately tell, "that's the Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread place." On a sunny day, it's also a nice photo spot with the exterior as a backdrop.

There's also an in-store activity called Muse Toy, where you paint on ceramics — I thought it'd be nice to come back and try it together once my kid is a bit older. At ₩10,000, it seems like something you could enjoy without much of a burden.

Right at the entrance there's a tasting corner with the bread cut into slices — one bite in, and I thought, "this would be good to share with my kid too."

Squid jjondeugi has such an unusual name that I got curious what it would taste like. They also sell oranda cookies made with jocheong (rice syrup) and yuja (citron).

Since we had a long drive ahead with the baby, I packed some to go and gave it to her as a car snack — it must have suited her taste, because she wasn't bored in the car at all and ate happily.

I microwaved the non-frozen bread for about 20 seconds, and the outside came out chewy while the inside stayed soft — my family and I all enjoyed it.
