## In short

Madam Hao is a Vietnamese restaurant near Ajou University in Suwon, Gyeonggi, that serves until 3am. A pho-loving couple ordered beef brisket pho at 11,000 won, bun cha at 13,000 won and a mango ade, and found a deeply savory broth plus charcoal-grilled pork with nuoc mam sauce; on the night of the visit, most of the customers and staff at Madam Hao were Vietnamese. For a hot bowl of noodles to settle a late night out, Madam Hao is a solid pick.

My husband and I both really love pho and go out for it a lot, so when I heard there was a pho place near Ajou University where you could really feel authentic Vietnamese vibes, I had to check it out.

## What Madam Hao near Ajou University feels like inside

Madam Hao is a Vietnamese restaurant on World Cup-ro 193beon-gil near Ajou University in Suwon. The moment we arrived, the entrance already had such an exotic feel I thought, wait, is this Korea or Vietnam?

![The exotic-feeling entrance of Madam Hao restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho-02-1gs9l-966.webp)

It would make a great photo spot too. And since this place stays open until 3am, you can cure a hangover with hot pho instead of the usual Korean hangover soup.

This is what really made me think it's a genuine gem — every single customer during our visit was Vietnamese. The staff were all Vietnamese too, but they spoke great Korean, so there was zero communication issue.

## Seating at Madam Hao: room for big groups

![Madam Hao's spacious interior seating suitable for group gatherings](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho-04-lx3u6-966.webp)

The interior of Madam Hao is very spacious, so it seems like it's often used for group gatherings. When we visited, the inner section was reserved for a group, so we sat in the outer area.

## The Madam Hao menu: what to order besides pho

Most people only think of pho or bun cha when it comes to Vietnamese food, but at Madam Hao you can try a whole range of Vietnamese dishes.

If you write a Naver review, they give you 2 free cha gio (spring rolls), so definitely take part! Each table has various sauces so you can season to taste if something feels off.

Shrimp chips come out as a default side, and maybe because it had been a while, they tasted salty and delicious haha.

### How to eat it: Madam Hao's table guide

For anyone wondering how exactly to eat this stuff, there's a helpful guide printed right on the table — worth a look!

## The table: 11,000 won beef brisket pho and 13,000 won bun cha

What we ordered that day was the Madam Hao beef brisket pho for ₩11,000 and bun cha for ₩13,000. I've been to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants, but this was hands-down the prettiest presentation I've seen. Both the pho and the bun cha came in seriously generous portions!

### Beef brisket pho at Madam Hao: savory on another level

![Madam Hao's savory beef brisket pho](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho-10-buwya-966.webp)

One sip of the broth and I was floored. Every pho I've had before this was basically fake. This — this is the real deal.

With an insanely savory broth and a generous pile of noodles, there's nothing better for a full meal.

If you like drinking, one sip of this broth and you'll instantly want a drink. How do I put it... the broth just hits your brain in the best way? Meaning it's ridiculously good.

Honestly, if I were an Ajou student, after a first round of drinks I'd have made this my automatic second stop... starting a second round with pho broth instead.

### Bun cha at Madam Hao, striking from the first look

The moment it arrived I just went 'wow, this is so pretty!' I've had bun cha many times, but this is the first place I've seen it plated this beautifully.

![A beautifully plated spread of Madam Hao's bun cha](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho-14-13jh2-966.webp)

Warm noodles, lettuce and herbs, charcoal-grilled pork plus nuoc mam sauce... honestly, with a combo like that, it basically can't be bad.

![Bun cha served with charcoal-grilled pork and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho-15-1osxw-966.webp)

Technically you're supposed to pour the nuoc mam sauce over the ingredients, but... I ended up dipping instead haha. I love nuoc mam sauce so much that I always dunk everything in it whenever I have bun cha.

Eating the charcoal-fragrant pork together with noodles dipped generously in nuoc mam sauce and the vegetables gives you that sweet-tangy, umami-packed bun cha flavor.

### Mango ade: pleasantly sweet

![Madam Hao's mango ade with a strong mango flavor](https://img.superchart.com/images/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho/suwon-ajou-madamhao-late-night-pho-17-1nyb6-966.webp)

Feeling thirsty, we also ordered a sweet mango ade, and the mango flavor was so intense it was really delicious. Personally, if you visit Madam Hao, I'd recommend ordering the mango ade too.
