## In short

Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is a Sanuki udon and Japanese restaurant 144m from Exit 5 of Seoul National University Entrance Station in Gwanak, Seoul. On a fully packed dinner visit, ten bukkake udon (11,000 won), mazesoba udon (11,000 won) and whole squid rings (4,000 won) were ordered, and the mazesoba udon tasted best with a splash of vinegar and then with rice stirred into the leftover sauce. If you like thick, chewy udon noodles, the ten bukkake udon at Kosi is the one to order.

I was craving chewy udon today, so I visited Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch, a well-known spot near Seoul National University Entrance Station! It was close to the station and easy to find, and this time I had ten bukkake udon and mazesoba udon along with some sides 🤍 If you love thick udon noodles, these were menu items worth watching haha. Let me introduce them one by one!

## Dinner at Kosi in Gwanak: almost every table full

I visited during dinner time and there were so many customers 👀 It was almost fully booked, so we barely got a table haha. There were quite a few solo diners and also lots of families eating together.

Still, people kept finishing up and leaving, so despite the crowd the turnover was pretty decent haha. The interior was clean too, so it didn't feel like a hassle to eat alone.

## Ordering at the table kiosk: what we chose at Kosi

Kosi has a kiosk installed at every table, so you can order right where you're sitting. It was convenient to browse photos and prices at your own pace haha. That day we ordered ten bukkake udon ₩11,000 / mazesoba udon ₩11,000 / whole squid rings ₩4,000 / Fanta ₩2,000 🤍

### Fanta, 2,000 won, arrived first

After ordering, the Fanta came out first! A refreshing sip while waiting for the food haha 🥤

## Whole squid rings, 4,000 won, that stretch as you pull them

The whole squid rings came out golden and crispy! One bite in and the outside was crunchy while the squid inside was chewy. But when I bit in and pulled...

Wait, what haha, it stretched out like cheese lol 😂 The squid stretched way longer than I expected, which was fun to watch while eating haha.

Dipping it into the sauce that came with it worked well, and the crispy yet chewy texture paired nicely alongside the udon.

## What comes with the ten bukkake udon, 11,000 won

Next up, ten bukkake udon! It came with shrimp tempura, pumpkin tempura, and inari sushi (fried tofu pocket rice) alongside the udon, plus a salad on the side. There was also bukkake sauce, green onion, radish, and tempura flakes served separately so you could season it to taste.

I added the green onion, radish, and tempura flakes, then poured the bukkake sauce over the udon haha. Now mix it all together for one bite 🍜🤍

### Thick, chewy udon noodles — but the temperature fell short

The first thing I noticed was the noodle texture! The noodles were on the thicker side, so each bite had a substantial, chewy feel.

I've always liked this kind of thick udon noodle, so I enjoyed it haha. Mixed with the bukkake sauce and toppings, it was savory and salty in a satisfying way, and I kept slurping it down. The one letdown was the temperature though! Since it's a bukkake udon, I expected it colder and more refreshing, but it wasn't as cold as I'd hoped. A bit colder would have suited my taste more. Still, the thick, chewy noodles themselves were delicious, so I was satisfied with that part 🤍

### Shrimp and pumpkin tempura plus inari sushi (fried tofu rice pockets)

While eating the udon, I also had the shrimp tempura and pumpkin tempura. After the chewy noodles, biting into crispy tempura changed up the texture nicely haha. The inari sushi made the meal even more filling. There was salad on the side too, good for eating in between bites of tempura or udon :) With so many things to enjoy together, the ten bukkake udon set turned out to be more substantial than I expected.

## Mazesoba udon, 11,000 won: pop the egg yolk and mix

Next, mazesoba udon! Thick udon noodles topped with meat, egg yolk, green onion, seaweed flakes and more — it looked delicious just from the visual 👀

I popped the yolk in the middle first 💛 then mixed everything thoroughly so the meat, sauce, and noodles blended together haha.

The mazesoba udon also had thick noodles with a good chew, and mixing in the meat and yolk gave it a rich, savory flavor.

### What a splash of vinegar does to the mazesoba udon

I ate it plain at first, then added a bit of vinegar around the halfway point. Honestly, I liked it better with the vinegar haha. Once the vinegar went in, the flavor felt brighter and even more savory! Rather than adding it from the start, trying the base flavor first and then adding vinegar little by little partway through let me enjoy it in a whole different way haha.

### Stirring rice into the leftover mazesoba sauce

Once you've eaten most of the mazesoba noodles, there's still meat and sauce left in the bowl, right? I added rice and mixed it into the leftover sauce 🍚 And honestly...

![Rice mixed into leftover mazesoba udon sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-national-univ-maze-udon-rice/kosi-seoul-national-univ-maze-udon-rice-18-1k18v-900.webp)

The rice mixed with sauce was even better than the noodles lol. As the leftover sauce coated every grain of rice and mixed with the meat, the savory flavor came through even more. If you order mazesoba udon, I'd recommend saving a little sauce to mix with rice at the end. This was seriously the best part for me...🤍 haha

## Ten bukkake udon vs mazesoba udon: which was better at Kosi?

Having tried both, ten bukkake udon suited my taste a bit more. I especially liked the thick, hearty, chewy noodles, and having shrimp tempura, pumpkin tempura, and inari sushi alongside made it filling haha. As for the mazesoba udon, I liked how the flavor came alive with a splash of vinegar midway through, and mixing the leftover sauce into rice at the end was especially delicious. If you're searching for restaurants near Seoul National University Entrance Station or udon in the area and love thick, chewy noodles, this place is worth keeping in mind 🍜🤍

The restroom isn't inside the store — it's outside. You'll need to grab the key by the door before you go 🔑 Don't just walk out and forget haha. If you're planning to use the restroom, make sure to grab the key before heading out!
