This time, we went to Dangke Donkatsu nearby for dinner as well as a stroll. It is a place where you can enjoy thick tonkatsu (Japanese-style breaded pork cutlet) and curry together, and I loved its tucked-away-in-an-alley atmosphere too, so let me introduce it! ## Dangke Donkatsu in an alley by the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail Dangke Donkatsu is in an alley near Gongneung-dong's Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail and Gongneung Dokkaebi Market. Finding the entrance was a little confusing at first. Another business is upstairs in the building, while Dangke Donkatsu sits on the semi-basement level down the stairs. With windows, warm lighting, and wood-toned furniture, it felt like a small Japanese-style restaurant hidden in a Gongneung-dong alley. The restaurant is compact, but alongside table seating, there are quite a few bar seats along the wall. Its layout also makes it easy to dine alone, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for solo tonkatsu in Gongneung. Rice, salad, side dishes, and sauce can be refilled if you need more, and sweet maesil-cha (plum tea) is available after the meal. And then there were the lollipops, which our son spotted faster than anyone! Maybe he thought he had to eat well to earn one, because he ate especially diligently that day. The thick loin katsu came with a sweet-salty soy sauce and a little Cheongyang chili pepper. It was not spicy overall, though the parts with pepper had a slight kick. The meat was not chewy and was easy to eat. The curry sauce was also great mixed into our child's rice, and with tonkatsu, curry, and udon all together, the portion was satisfyingly filling. The lemon and strawberry fruit ades were sweet and went nicely with the food, although I have to admit the amount felt a little disappointing considering how happily we drank them! ## Dinner in Gongneung-dong with our child The restroom is a clean, shared unisex restroom inside the restaurant, so it was not inconvenient to use with our child. During the meal, the owner also took one look at our son and said he was handsome. > You know how hearing someone compliment your child makes you even happier than hearing a compliment about yourself, right? 🤣 With that one comment, this mom's heart was already bursting with hearts. Dangke Donkatsu is in a great spot to stop by before or after a walk on the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail, and it was lovely for eating with a child. With plenty of bar seating, it is also good for dining alone, while families can enjoy a hearty meal together.
