## Why we picked Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu for a meal with a baby in Sokcho

On this trip to Sokcho, I was searching for a restaurant we could bring the baby to, and that's how I ended up at Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu (진솔할머니순두부). We were figuring out what to eat for breakfast on day two of the trip, looking specifically for places with a baby chair, and that's how we found it. Now that we travel with a baby, the first things I check when picking a restaurant are whether there's a baby chair and whether the space is roomy.

Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu had a baby chair and a pretty spacious dining hall, so it seemed like a good place to eat with Ina.

### Parking at Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu and what time we arrived

The parking lot was big, and there was staff directing cars. We visited on a weekday around 11:30 am, and by the time we finished eating and came out, there were already a lot of cars and quite a few customers. There was even a separate space for large vehicles in the back! I thought we'd arrived early, but I guess a lot of people come to Sokcho specifically for tofu dishes haha. This area also has the restaurant featured on Pungja's Ttogagajip, and it's basically all tofu and hwangtae restaurants around here.

## What comes with the Jinsol jeongsik set at 29,000 won per person

There were a lot of menu items, but since we wanted to try a variety, we ordered the set meal. There was the Jinsol jeongsik and the grilled jeongsik, and since the Jinsol jeongsik included whole tofu, which seemed good for feeding the baby, we ordered two servings of the Jinsol jeongsik at ₩29,000 each.

The number of side dishes alone was really something. Before the main food arrived, the banchan (side dishes) came out one by one, and there were so many different kinds. Grilled hwangtae, Chodang sundubu, buckwheat pancake roll, acorn jelly salad, whole tofu, buckwheat pancake — it was so much stuff that the table was already full from the start.

And there was even fried flounder. I'm a hardcore Korean food person, so I basically pigged out starting from lunch lol. I always love trying a bunch of different Korean side dishes, so with this many banchan, it was fun to sample one after another.

Especially mixing rice into the sundubu and topping it with salted squid, it went down so smoothly, I couldn't stop slurping it up. I basically drank it… With whole tofu and pan-fried tofu on top of that, I think I ate enough tofu to last a while.

## What the baby ate: modubu and sundubu mixed with rice

The baby ate better than expected too. When we go to a restaurant with the baby, we naturally check whether there's anything from the adult food that she can eat. We fed her whole tofu bit by bit. Rather than only looking for completely unseasoned food, we tend to give her small portions of what we're eating, and mixing sundubu with rice for her, she took it much more readily than I expected. Having the baby chair made things comfortable throughout the meal too.

Our baby is a pretty good eater, but she's picky about what suits her taste lol. Even so, she really took to the tofu haha. My husband also had a filling meal, eating a bit of everything from the various side dishes.

## How big is the tofu spread for two people?

Overall, the portions were really huge. We ended up leaving a bit since it was just the two of us, but it was nice to be able to try so many different things. If you want to eat several dishes together, like Chodang sundubu and grilled hwangtae, this place seems like a good fit. Personally, I prefer having a spread of many side dishes and sampling bits of each rather than just eating one single dish, so this was especially satisfying for me.

That said, the portions are so large that if two people visit like we did, you might end up leaving some food. You don't have to order the set meal either — there's bulgogi and other dishes, so if you're visiting with a baby, you could just look at the menu and pick something. Of course, I haven't tried everything on the menu myself, so I'm just writing based on what we actually saw and ordered on our visit :)

## Is Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu easy with a baby?

While looking for somewhere to eat with the baby in Sokcho, having a baby chair was the first thing I checked, and Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu had both a baby chair and a spacious dining hall, so it worked out well for a meal with Ina. Most of all, being able to eat so many different things at once — tofu, pancakes, side dishes — meant our family walked out having had a filling meal.

If you're looking for a place to eat with a baby in Sokcho and you like tofu dishes, trying a set meal like this one seems like a solid choice. We visited as a combined breakfast-and-lunch during our trip, ate until full, and headed off to our next stop haha. Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu, found while searching for baby-friendly restaurants in Sokcho — we got to eat a good variety of tofu dishes and side dishes and left having had a really filling meal :)
