I'd been craving Korean comfort food like kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) or kimchi jjim (braised kimchi) recently, so I went to Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal in Dongtan. We came during lunchtime and luckily still found a spot. The interior overall felt clean and cozy. I felt like having a place like this in the neighborhood means you'd end up stopping by casually whenever the craving hits~! Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal says it uses domestic kimchi and domestic fresh meat for every menu item. It comes with samgyeop kimchi jjim, egg roll, and rice, and it's ₩28,000 for two people. It was a thick, steaming egg roll, and when I tried a piece while it was still warm, it was so soft and tasty that I couldn't stop reaching for it. It looked delicious just from the bubbling and simmering, didn't it? It came already partly cooked, so we just needed to simmer the tofu a bit more. Sprinkle some gim (seaweed flakes) on the rice, pile on a generous scoop of kimchi jjim, and mix it all together — it's seriously good. There's a slight spicy kick to it, but not an overwhelming spicy — more like the kind of tasty spicy you keep wanting to eat!
