## In short

Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch is a stone-plate Chinese restaurant on Dolgotji-gil in Paju, Gyeonggi. On a repeat visit planned for jajangmyeon, the order changed to samgye seafood nurungji tang (ginseng-chicken and seafood soup over scorched rice), which arrived with two whole chicken legs plus octopus, shrimp and squid, and the nurungji at the bottom of the stone plate soaked up the broth and stayed hot to the last spoonful. For a nourishing dish and Chinese food in one bowl, the samgye seafood nurungji tang at Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch is the answer.

I wanted a guaranteed good meal, so I headed to Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch, which has become word-of-mouth famous as a Paju Simhaksan restaurant! I remembered eating so well here last time, so I came back with high expectations — and once again, it delivered 100%!

## Dining room and seating: does it work for groups?

The dining hall at Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch is spacious and comfortable, with generous gaps between tables. The staff greeted us really warmly when we walked in, and you can eat comfortably without crossing paths or bumping into other guests.

Because the space is so roomy and there are plenty of seats, it's great for a relaxed family meal, and it also works well as a spot for group gatherings or company dinners.

## Tablet ordering and what is on the menu

Once we sat down, each table had a tablet set up, so we could take our time browsing photos and descriptions and place our order at ease — very convenient! Looking through the menu, there was an eclectic, varied lineup: samgye seafood nurungji tang, handmade tungbosha, nurungji stone-plate jjamppong, nurungji stone-plate jajang, chili pesto stone jajang, cold jjamppong, handmade pork soup, chicken soup, stone-plate mapo tofu, stir-fried shrimp, and more.

We originally came for jajang, but the samgye seafood nurungji tang, which promised both a warm nourishing meal and great flavor at once, was too tempting, so we ordered it — and I'm really glad we did!

## Side dish self-bar and unlimited rice refills

After ordering, the staff set out pickled radish, onion, and black bean sauce.

If any side dish runs low, you can just grab more from the self-serve bar.

On top of that, rice refills are unlimited too, which makes for great value and a filling meal!

## Samgye seafood nurungji tang: two chicken legs and a loaded seafood mix

After a short wait, the samgye seafood nurungji tang arrived showing off an incredible look! It came bubbling away on a hot stone plate, rich samgye (chicken and ginseng) broth mingling with a generous pile of seafood — just looking at it made me swallow hard, ㅠ.ㅠ

The first spoonful of broth I tried had that deep, heavy, richly savory character unique to well-simmered samgye stock, spreading all through my mouth!

And in there were not one but two whole big chicken legs!

![Whole chicken leg inside the samgye seafood nurungji tang](https://img.superchart.com/images/paju-simhaksan-samgye-seafood-nurungji/paju-simhaksan-samgye-seafood-nurungji-10-ndbvz-900.webp)

They were boiled so tender that the meat melted softly the moment it hit my mouth.

There wasn't a hint of dryness anywhere, no gamey smell, just savory juices and samgye broth soaked all through the moist meat — eating the chicken alone felt like a complete nourishing meal. Before I could even finish marveling at the chicken, there was a whole colorful spread of seafood right beside it.

The octopus had that appealingly chewy texture, and every bite had this bouncy, popping resistance that was just wonderful.

There were plump shrimp packed in too, and they were so good!

And chewy squid on top of that! All kinds of seafood were generously loaded in, so it was genuinely fun picking through and eating each one.

The sweet bell pepper kept the broth's flavor, which could otherwise feel heavy, light and fresh, balancing everything out brilliantly : )

Eating this together with the green onion kimchi is honey-sweet perfection!

## Why the nurungji at the bottom of the stone plate is the real star

After happily digging through the chicken and seafood, you finally meet the true star sitting at the bottom of the stone plate — the crispy nurungji (scorched rice) that has soaked up all that rich samgye seafood broth sauce!

Thanks to the warmth of the stone plate, it stays hot all the way to the very last spoonful — crispy on the outside, but soaking up that rich sauce inside for a moist, savory texture that just explodes in your mouth!

> This is genuinely a must-try, signature-move dish if you visit — ㅠ.ㅠ

## What is at the self-serve dessert corner?

Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch, a beloved Simhaksan restaurant, also has a really well-stocked dessert corner!

From cool sweet yogurt drinks to nutty rice crackers and a clean coffee machine, everything was thoughtfully set up, so I walked out with the perfect palate cleanser to finish the meal : )
