This time I went to Akai Teppan (아카이테판), a spot near Mullae Station where you can supposedly enjoy proper Japanese-style teppanyaki. Akai Teppan is a Japanese teppan (iron griddle) specialist serving okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) along with yakisoba, nabe (hot pot) and all kinds of grilled dishes, so the menu gives you plenty to choose from 👍 It seemed like a great fit if you love pairing hot griddle dishes with a cold drink, so I went to check it out. ## Easy to reach from Mullae Station Akai Teppan sits in a convenient spot near Mullae Station, so it's easy to make plans in Mullae and walk over. It works for a meal and a drink near Mullae Station, and just as well if you meet up in the evening and go looking for a Mullae bar. What I liked right away, even from the exterior, was how well the place uses lighting. Finally, the Akai okonomiyaki and the seafood okonomiyaki arrived. The thickness was no joke either. The Akai okonomiyaki is served right on the iron plate, as you'd expect from a teppan specialist, so you get to enjoy it hot. The room is bigger than you'd expect, and with the cozy lighting and Japanese izakaya interior, it feels less like a place you just eat and more like somewhere to unwind over drinks in the evening. The Akai okonomiyaki balanced generous shaved pork belly with a variety of fillings, and the seafood okonomiyaki was just as satisfying, packed with squid, mussels, clams and shrimp 👍 If you want something a bit different from the usual Mullae bars, or you fancy a drink with hot teppan dishes, I'd recommend giving the Mullae bar Akai Teppan a try!
