## In short

Hamjjirang Tojjirang Animal Experience Café is an animal petting café on Docheok-ro in Docheok-myeon, Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, with an open pasture beside a chestnut forest and a river where you can feed goats, sheep, piglets, ducks and rabbits. A single ticket costs 12,000 won and includes either a drink or a bag of animal feed, and there is no time limit, so we wandered slowly with our child. Between the outdoor feeding, the indoor observation zone, a bowl of Hangang ramen and the 10,000 won bonding zone, one visit to Hamjjirang Tojjirang filled a whole weekend day.

The weather's been so gorgeous lately! On weekends when I'm racking my brain over where to take my kid, I find myself looking for outdoor spots instead of stuffy indoor ones.

Last weekend, wanting to make a special memory for my child, I spent ages searching for things to do with kids in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, and came across an experience space in Docheok-myeon. I'd heard it had lots of cute animals kids love plus amazing scenery, so we set off excited hahaha.

## Where is Hamjjirang Tojjirang, and how much is admission?

Hamjjirang Tojjirang Animal Experience Café is located at 883-3 Docheok-ro, Docheok-myeon, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, 1st floor. Admission is ₩12,000 per person, and you can choose either a drink or animal feed.

- Hours: Weekdays 12:00–17:00 / Weekends and holidays 10:00–18:00 (last entry 1 hour before closing)
- Admission: ₩12,000 per person (choose one of drink or animal feed)
- Other notes: no time limit on your visit, free entry for infants 12 months and under (ID verification required), reservations required on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays

Visiting in person, I really loved that we could look around at our own pace without feeling rushed. Since weekends and holidays run on a reservation system, visitors weren't all crowding in at once, which made parking and getting around much more relaxed hahaha.

## Outdoor feeding at Hamjjirang Tojjirang: goats, sheep, piglets, ducks and rabbits

After walking into the Hamjjirang Tojjirang building and getting our single admission tickets, they handed us each a cute feed bucket filled with fresh carrots and green grass. My kid's eyes were already sparkling.

Carrying our feed buckets out into the outdoor space, goats, sheep, a piglet, ducks and rabbits all came out to greet us happily hahaha.

Seeing my child stand this close, make eye contact, and feed the animals directly made her so happy that even I felt proud watching!!

## Chestnut forest, riverside and parasol seats for a break

Above all, the surroundings at Hamjjirang Tojjirang were really impressive. Dense chestnut trees encircle the place, and a gently flowing river stretches out right beside it — the scenery was stunning.

Parents can sit under cool parasols with a cup of coffee and safely watch their kids play, which made for a really comfortable rest.

Places with lots of animals gathered together often have a distinct smell that makes it hard to stay long. But here, the outdoor space seemed to be managed hygienically, so the air was clean and pleasant the whole time we were there!!

## What animals are in the indoor observation zone?

Stepping into the Hamjjirang Tojjirang indoor observation zone, there were parrots, guinea pigs, hamsters, frogs and lizards — all kinds of creatures we usually only see in books. My child got completely absorbed watching them, losing track of time.

### Hangang ramen: a quick meal at the animal café

By the time we got hungry after playing for a while, the café had everything set up for us to cook our own Hangang ramen (river-style instant ramen), which was perfect for a quick meal.

## The 10,000 won bonding zone: one-on-one with a rabbit

Of everything, what completely won our family over was, without a doubt, the bonding zone!! Open to one adult and one child together, this ₩10,000 experience takes place in a small, cozy space where you get to deeply connect with a gentle rabbit.

Once inside, the rabbit was so gentle and friendly toward people that it showed no fear at all. It followed us around just like a sweet little puppy, which had us laughing hahaha.

Since my child has never had a pet at home, she seemed a little nervous at first and only gently poked the rabbit's back with a fingertip.

But after a little while, as the rabbit stayed calm and patiently waited, she seemed to gather her courage and gently stroked its back with her whole palm.

The bright smile that spread across my child's face as she felt that warmth and connection is something I still can't forget.

For kids who haven't had many chances to touch animals, this place offers such a warm and wondrous experience — I really want to recommend it to the parenting moms around me who ask about things to do with kids in Gwangju.

Being able to connect with the animals at a leisurely pace, with no time limit, amid such natural scenery, Hamjjirang Tojjirang truly earns its place among things to do with kids in Gwangju, and gave both my child and me a genuinely happy day.
