## In short

Manmok Seonleung is a Japanese restaurant serving eel and hanwoo (Korean beef) on the first floor of a building about 273 meters from Exit 2 of Seonleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Two siblings shared a half-portion eel rice bowl and a hanwoo nabe (hot pot), which came with basic sides such as dotorimuk (acorn jelly) and baek-kimchi (white kimchi), plus steamed egg custard and black tea or matcha ice cream. For anyone who wants both eel and hanwoo in one sitting, the portions at Manmok Seonleung were just right for two.

Last week my sister and I went to Manmok Seonleung for a delicious meal 🥰 It was close to Seonleung Station so it was easy to find, and with everything from eel rice bowls to hanwoo hot pot on the menu, picking what to order was half the fun! 👍🏻 We chose an eel dish and a hanwoo dish to share 😆 It was great being able to enjoy two menus in one sitting haha. My sister and I had a relaxed, delicious meal together for the first time in a while :)

## What is the atmosphere like inside Manmok Seonleung?

Walking into Manmok Seonleung, the atmosphere was clean and comfortable, and it seemed like a nice place to enjoy a relaxed meal 🥰 There were tables set up, making it good for visiting with friends or family, and it also looked fine for groups eating together :) It made me think it would work well for office workers looking for a dinner spot near Seonleung Station 😆

## What side dishes come with the meal?

The basic side dishes at Manmok Seonleung were a light lineup like baek-kimchi (white kimchi) and seasoned spinach, served together with wasabi, sansho pepper, and pickled radish. The basic sides were also plated neatly 🫶🏻 These light side dishes went well alongside the food. With wasabi, sansho, and pickled radish also prepared, eating them with the eel kept it from feeling greasy and made it taste even better :)

Acorn jelly and salad came out too, and I especially loved the acorn jelly haha. My sister liked it too and ate it well, so the two of us finished it quickly. The salad was also a nice, refreshing addition!

### What is the hanwoo nabe (Korean beef hot pot) like?

First up, the hanwoo hot pot! I fell for how it looked 😍 With hanwoo in the broth, it was light yet filling, and having a soup dish on the table paired really well with the eel rice bowl 👍🏻

The hanwoo hot pot was delicious dipped in the sauce, and eating it with a bit of mustard added a whole different charm. With mushrooms and vegetables mixed in too, it was light yet well-balanced — really tasty :)

### Is a half eel rice bowl enough for two people?

Next up, the eel rice bowl! We ordered the half portion, and the amount was actually fine for two of us to share haha. It looked amazing too 👍🏻 With eel piled on top of the rice, it looked filling just to look at.

The eel's signature soft texture and sweet-savory sauce went really well with the rice, and it was perfect for a full meal.

### Gyeran-jjim (steamed egg custard)

One of the items that came with the eel rice bowl was steamed egg custard. It was so soft and moist, like an egg pudding, that the texture was fantastic. Its gentle softness went well with the eel rice bowl too 👏🏻

## Dessert: black tea or matcha ice cream?

For dessert, they prepared ice cream too 🥰 You could choose between black tea and matcha flavors. I picked both black tea and matcha, and it was a nice way to finish the meal. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness of including a dessert like this ❤️

## Who should visit Manmok Seonleung, and when?

Overall, Manmok Seonleung was a great place to visit near Seonleung Station when you want a hearty meal 🥰 The eel rice bowl worked well as a full meal on its own, and adding the hanwoo hot pot made it even more filling :) On top of that, being close to Seonleung Station is a real plus for accessibility! It could work as a lunch spot for office workers, or as a dinner spot near Seonleung Station for get-togethers with friends or coworkers in the evening 👍🏻 If you like eel and hanwoo dishes, I'd recommend giving it a visit 👏🏻
