When you say Jeju Eunhui-ne, the first thing that comes to mind is a hot, spicy hangover soup — but this time I tried something a little different, going all in on cool hanchi mulhoe (squid cold noodle soup), rich tripe soup, and dombe pork too. Here's an honest review of an enjoyable meal.

It's located across from Starfield Goyang, so it's great for stopping by after shopping, and it's easy to reach by public transit too. Parking is also available, so it's no hassle if you're driving.

Outside it said "power air conditioning," and when I opened the door, the air really was completely different!

There were also good-value set menus that bundled in side dishes, and rice and broth could be refilled for free. It was nice that you could adjust things to taste, like asking for the chili paste or ox blood to be left out.

We ordered two main dishes along with a side. Tripe soup ₩13,000 / hanchi mulhoe ₩16,000 / dombe pork (small) ₩13,000.

## Hanchi mulhoe, 16,000 won: plenty of squid in slushy icy broth

The mulhoe (cold raw seafood soup) came out first, and with crunchy vegetables and thinly sliced hanchi (squid) piled generously over the icy broth, it looked delicious just to see.

There was a generous amount of the pricier hanchi in particular, which gave a really satisfying first impression.

It was chewy yet tender, much more delicate than squid, so the texture was great too. The more you chewed, the more a subtle sweetness came through with no fishy taste, which paired well with the tangy, cool broth. Every bite made my mouth feel instantly refreshed, like the heat was melting away.

Eaten together with red cabbage, cucumber, and perilla leaf, the crunch and chewiness combined for extra fun with every bite. A perfect dish for a hot summer day!

## Dombe pork, small plate 13,000 won: how it pairs with the mulhoe

The dombe pork came out sliced thick, served on a wooden cutting board, which really gave off Jeju vibes.

The lean meat and fat were well balanced, making it savory yet tender, with a nice amount of chew too. At first I thought the portion looked a bit small, but since it was cut thick, it was plenty as a side, and pairing it with the tangy mulhoe worked out really well.

There was chili paste sitting in the milky broth, and once I mixed it in thoroughly, it turned spicy and sharp, giving that satisfying feeling of your stomach settling. It wasn't as spicy as I expected, but if you're not into strong flavors, you could probably scoop out a bit of the chili paste and enjoy a milder version instead.
