## In short

Yeongchun Galbi is a Korean BBQ restaurant five minutes on foot from Magongnaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul, specializing in charcoal-grilled marinated Jirisan black pork. One 500g order costs 49,500 won, and the staff grill the whole platter in the open kitchen, served with three sauces — kimchi sauce, garlic vinegar and cheongyang chili pesto. Marinated galbi (ribs) is my favorite kind of meat, so I went to check out this Magok favorite, 🩵Yeongchun Galbi🩵.

> For anyone looking for a Magok group dinner spot!
> Anyone curious about a Magongnaru group dinner restaurant!
> Anyone hunting for a good BBQ place in Magok!
> Anyone planning to bring their parents!
> Anyone who hates grilling the meat themselves!

## Where is Yeongchun Galbi, and where do you park?

Yeongchun Galbi is 253m — about a 5-minute walk — from Exit 2 of Magongnaru Station, on the 1st floor of Doosan The Land Park Building C. Park at the Doosan The Land Park lot and you get 2 hours free — just mention it at checkout and they'll give you a parking coupon!

The way there is a little tricky. Take the elevator up to the 1st floor of Building C, exit toward Dakjang Beer, walk straight for 10m and you'll hit Gyeonga Restaurant. Turn right there, and it's at the end of that path.

The window seats at Yeongchun Galbi are floor-to-ceiling glass, so it's bright during the day and you can see outside in the evening.

There's also outdoor seating (yajang). I ate inside, but eating outside on a nice day looked like it would be great too.

## How large are the group tables? From 5 to 34 people

Yeongchun Galbi's group seating fits anywhere from 5 to 34 people. If you're planning a group dinner in Magongnaru, book ahead!

## The staff grill every piece of meat for you

The biggest thing about Yeongchun Galbi is that they grill everything for you.

It's grilled over charcoal in the open kitchen and brought to you ready to eat. Each table has a small burner and a candle to keep it warm.

The upside is clear: your clothes don't absorb as much smoke smell! Not zero, but definitely less than grilling it yourself. There's also no stress about who has to grill, no awkwardness over whose turn it is, and no risk of burning anything. If you're bringing kids, not having open flame on the table is a plus too.

## Charcoal-grilled marinated black pork, 500g for 49,500 won

We ordered one full tray of the charcoal-grilled marinated black pork. It's ₩49,500 for 500g.

Yeongchun Galbi uses Jirisan black pork. It's marinated for a first 24-hour cure in a sauce brewed from 15 ingredients, pre-grilled over charcoal, then marinated again for a second cure before final grilling!

The look of it is really something! Just looking at it, you can practically smell the charcoal 💕

One bowl of rice is included per person!

The flavor of the galbi isn't wildly different from marinated galbi at a typical BBQ place. The difference is the fat content — Yeongchun Galbi's is on the leaner side.

![Close-up of leaner-style Jirisan black pork marinated galbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-08-76ubj-900.webp)

![Thickly cut grilled marinated black pork galbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-09-uvu7l-900.webp)

The meat is on the thick side, and it comes with shredded scallions — piling them on top of the meat tastes great!

They also grill up some plump mushrooms and thick scallions, and with that mayo-ish sauce on top, they're delicious!

## Three sauces: kimchi sauce, garlic vinegar and cheongyang chili pesto

The sauces really stood out! There are three, and all of them were new to me!

### Kimchi sauce

This one's kind of surprising. One dip and it tastes like you're eating with kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew)!!

![Kimchi sauce that tastes like kimchi jjigae](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-15-12vnh-900.webp)

![Black pork galbi dipped in kimchi sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-16-ub0pe-900.webp)

I was baffled that a sauce alone could produce that flavor lol

### Garlic vinegar

This was my favorite. It's sweet and tangy, and dipping the meat in it gives an oddly Western-food kind of vibe!

It's good on the scallions too. This one is the best for cutting through the richness.

### Cheongyang chili pesto

My friend said this sauce is spicy and clean-tasting, and their favorite of the three! If you like spicy food, this is the one for you! Switching between all three, the same meat kept tasting different 💕

![Black pork dipped in cheongyang chili pesto](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-21-2u09k-900.webp)

![Plate of Yeongchun Galbi's boldly seasoned side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-22-70v7u-900.webp)

![Godeulppagi side dish that pairs well with rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining/youngchoon-galbi-magok-group-dining-23-msywv-900.webp)

## The side dishes are on the salty side

Overall, the side dishes are on the salty side, which pairs perfectly with rice! The godeulppagi (bitter lettuce root) in particular is salty with well-absorbed seasoning — eaten with rice it's a total rice thief!!! If you're just eating meat, it's probably better to portion out the side dishes rather than dig in freely.

## Parking coupons and how to book a table

Yeongchun Galbi runs a Naver coupon event.

- 🎫 Free black pork spicy stew ramyeon (with review)
- 🎫 Free Seomjin River fermented soybean stew (with review)
- 🎫 100% off with Naver reservation
- 🎫 Buy one highball, get one free
- 🎫 Free birthday highball (for alert subscribers)

There are two review coupons. The spicy stew ramyeon is ₩6,900 and the soybean stew is ₩6,500, so getting both saves you over ten thousand won! Don't skip the highball 1+1 either — the Yeongchunhui highball is ₩8,500, so with the buy-one-get-one deal, that's ₩4,250 a glass.

Reservations work through both Naver and Catch Table. You can also just walk in, and if there's a wait, you can join the line remotely through Catch Table!
