## In short

Hatpiendo is an izakaya in Yongsan, Seoul, a three-minute walk from Samgakji Station Exit 3, where the second-floor windows open wide for an outdoor-drinking feel. After dinner elsewhere, the writer came to Hatpiendo for a second round and ordered the ankimo bomb salt gimbap (seaweed rice roll) at 25,000 won plus Seoul-eui-bam mixed with tonic water, and the gimbap carried more ankimo (monkfish liver) than rice. Hatpiendo suits anyone who wants that open-air feeling without the noise of a ground-floor street-side bar.

The weather's been so good lately. So I went looking for a bar with that outdoor-drinking vibe for round two, and ended up at Hatpiendo, a Samgakji Station favorite in Yongsan. A gimbap piled high with ankimo plus a Seoul-eui-bam in hand — I was in such a good mood haha.

## Where is Hatpiendo near Samgakji Station, and what are its hours?

Hatpiendo Yongsan is at 12 Hangang-daero 54-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea, 2nd floor — a super-close-to-the-station bar just 3 minutes' walk from Samgakji Station Exit 3. Hours are Monday–Thursday 17:30–24:00, Friday 17:30–01:00, Saturday 16:30–00:30, and Sunday 16:20–23:00. There are tons of bars nearby too, so it's perfect as a second stop.

Samgakji is a great neighborhood for making plans — plenty of places for a proper dinner, and plenty for a light drink after. We had dinner that night and were trying to figure out where to go next, and ended up heading to the Samgakji favorite Hatpiendo Yongsan. Since it's so close to the station, walking over after dinner was no trouble at all. Especially on days like these, with that cool evening breeze, it feels like a waste to stay indoors the whole time. But sometimes you don't want to deal with a loud, crowded outdoor bar either — and this place had exactly the right vibe for a night like that.

## Second-floor windows opened wide for an outdoor-drinking feel

Hatpiendo is on the second floor, but they open up the full-length windows so it really does feel like an outdoor bar. With the weather cooling down and a breeze drifting in, it was such a nice surprise! The moment I walked in, the view outside through the big windows caught my eye.

Even though we were sitting indoors, having the windows wide open let the outside air in, which was lovely — on a nice day like this, that atmosphere alone is part of the fun of having a drink. It felt less chaotic than a ground-floor outdoor bar, with people and cars passing right by, but you still got that open-air feeling like you're drinking outside. It's a relaxed spot for slowly chatting and drinking with a friend, so I think it'd suit anyone looking for a good second-round spot.

## Bar counter, tables and a group floor at Hatpiendo

Near the entrance of Hatpiendo there are about four tables of four where you can really soak up that outdoor-bar vibe. If you mention your preferred seat when booking, they'll prioritize it for you — worth keeping in mind!

If you're visiting with a friend like we did, sitting by the window and feeling the outside air while you drink is a great option. Since each seat has a slightly different atmosphere, it's worth mentioning your preference before you visit so you can get the spot you want. There are also inner 4-seat tables and bar-style seating for a quieter second round.

The bar seats looked quiet and perfect for drinking solo — I'm planning to come back for a solo drink next time. On top of that, the third floor apparently has group seating for up to 45 people. Full venue rental is available too, so it's great for group visits.

## Ankimo bomb salt gimbap, 25,000 won: more liver than rice

![A round-two spread of drinks and food set on the table at Hatpiendo](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-08-xywcw-966.webp)

We'd already eaten a solid dinner for round one, so when we got to Hatpiendo for round two, we ordered the ankimo bomb salt gimbap for ₩25,000 along with a Seoul-eui-bam.

![Ankimo bomb salt gimbap piled high with ankimo](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-09-lwih4-966.webp)

The menu called it "ankimo bomb salt gimbap," and I wondered just how much of a bomb it could be — turns out it really was a "bomb." There's way more ankimo than gimbap... I've never seen that much ankimo before.

![A Seoul-eui-bam highball with tonic water added](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-10-60kkd-966.webp)

On top of that, even with tonic water added to the Seoul-eui-bam, the value was so good — Hatpiendo really is the Samgakji favorite that doesn't feel like a burden as a second stop.

![A glass of Seoul-eui-bam and ankimo gimbap by the window](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-11-1au04-966.webp)

With that full outdoor-bar vibe, a gentle breeze, and a Seoul-eui-bam in hand, the drinks went down so smoothly. Ground-floor outdoor bars are usually loud, with cars and people passing by, making things pretty chaotic. But Hatpiendo, even on the second floor, keeps that outdoor vibe while staying quiet, comfortable, and relaxed.

![A drink served with plenty of ice at Hatpiendo](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-12-146aw-m-966.webp)

They also gave us plenty of ice, which made it easy to enjoy a drink without it feeling too strong.

![Close-up of a piece of salt gimbap topped with ankimo](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-13-1i5q9-966.webp)

I really love ankimo, so gimbap piled high with it kept going down no matter how full I got. Even with the same amount of ankimo on each piece, no matter how much I ate it just didn't seem to run out — I was so happy haha.

![Picking up salt gimbap together with ankimo](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-14-4j877-966.webp)

The gimbap is salt gimbap, so the seasoning paired really well with the ankimo. For someone like me who loves the soft, savory flavor unique to ankimo, it was exactly my kind of taste. Eating the rice, seaweed, and ankimo together in one bite made it the perfect drinking snack too.

![A plate of ankimo salt gimbap served with wasabi](https://img.superchart.com/images/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round/hotpiendo-yongsan-ankimo-kimbap-second-round-15-12kfo-966.webp)

They also gave us plenty of wasabi, and mixing it in with the ankimo made this a Samgakji favorite I'd want to come back to for dinner too haha.

If you're looking for a Samgakji favorite with that full outdoor-bar vibe for round two, how about Hatpiendo?
