## In short

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a Japanese-style pork cutlet restaurant in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Arriving at 12:20 pm on a Saturday with 7 teams ahead, the wait was only 10 minutes, and the meal was cheese cutlet, premium loin cutlet, and curry udon, topped off with sansho pepper and dried radish from the self-serve bar. With the side dishes at home all gone, I was craving a proper pork cutlet, so I headed to Kkot Gatsu in Mokdong, Dongtan. I'm usually out hunting for good restaurants around Dongtan anyway, but this time it was purely a pork cutlet craving that got me!

I'll go through everything from the dishes we actually tried to the weekend wait, parking, and the vibe of the place.

Kkot Gatsu doesn't allow dogs, so Tissue stayed in the car with Tesla's pet mode on!

## Why you should decide on your Kkot Gatsu order before you arrive

![Menu board at Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-01-1fvtc-908.webp)

At Kkot Gatsu, it really helps to check the menu ahead of time, because when you join the waitlist you have to order in advance — so I'd recommend picking what you want before you even walk in. We hadn't looked ahead, so I just went with my gut: premium loin cutlet, cheese cutlet, and curry udon.

## The three-dish spread

![Table spread with cheese cutlet, premium loin cutlet, and curry udon](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-02-bh7a6-1200.webp)

Overall, the visuals were straight-up 'Dongtan date restaurant' material. You can see how generous the portions look, right? I'll go through the taste notes for each one below!

### Cheese cutlet

![The cheese cutlet served first at Kkot Gatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-03-lqbw0-966.webp)

First up, the cheese cutlet! The moment I saw the cutlet piled with cheese, my appetite just took off.

![Plate of cheese cutlet loaded with melted cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-04-met7f-900.webp)

The outside was fried crisp, and the cheese inside meant that cutting into it while still hot gave that great blend of meat and cheese together,

![Cross-section of the cheese cutlet showing the melted cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-05-2wyrj-900.webp)

![A crispy piece of the cheese cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-06-6cpq5-900.webp)

and it wasn't greasy at all — the crisp breading with the tender meat and savory cheese should really hit the spot for anyone who's into cheese pork cutlets.

### Premium loin cutlet

![Kkot Gatsu's premium loin cutlet plated](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-07-1t04n-966.webp)

Personally, when I eat pork cutlet I love that distinct loin flavor and texture, so I was curious about the premium loin cutlet too and ordered it.

![Thickly sliced premium loin cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-08-1nra9-900.webp)

Seeing it in person, the meat was noticeably thick — a totally different feel from your typical thin cutlet.

![Close-up of the thick premium loin cutlet cross-section](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-09-1a39k-900.webp)

![A piece of premium loin cutlet held with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-10-125xp-900.webp)

Because the meat was so thick, you really got that meaty texture with the first bite. A pork cutlet needs more than just crispy breading — the meat inside has to be good too — and the premium loin cutlet delivered on both the flavor of the meat itself and that thick, satisfying bite.

### Curry udon

![The curry udon ordered alongside the cutlets](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-11-1ublv-966.webp)

![A bowl of udon in curry broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-12-12atg-900.webp)

And since ordering only pork cutlets felt like a waste, we also got curry udon. Since cutlets are fried, things can get a little greasy after a while,

![Lifting up a bite of curry udon noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-13-eb7is-900.webp)

but mixing in some curry udon in between gave us a whole different flavor to enjoy. Slurping the noodles and sipping the curry broth bite by bite — the pork cutlet + curry udon combo, oh man. If there's even one big eater between the two of you visiting, then just trust me and get the curry udon, no questions asked.

## Kkot Gatsu's self-serve bar: don't skip the sansho pepper and dried radish

This is a tip only people who've actually been can give you.

![The self-serve bar near the entrance at Kkot Gatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-14-1yn50-900.webp)

![Sansho pepper and dried radish laid out at the self-serve bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-15-5fhpu-966.webp)

There's a self-serve bar near the entrance, and while there are basic side dishes served automatically, the sansho pepper and dried radish are only available at the self-serve bar, so definitely go grab some!! Since the cutlets are thick and generous, once you start feeling full, a bite of sansho pepper and dried radish just resets your appetite.

![A plate of side dishes brought from the self-serve bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-16-q3yt2-900.webp)

![Salt, wasabi, and cutlet sauce set on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-17-ftv0a-966.webp)

Of course, eating it with salt or wasabi or cutlet sauce is delicious too, but I hugely, hugely, hugely recommend the cutlet sauce + sansho pepper combo.

![A draft Asahi ordered alongside the cutlets](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-18-1422j-900.webp)

If you're a grown-up who likes a drink, Asahi comes highly recommended too, haha hahaha.

## The vibe and seating

![Kkot Gatsu's interior with wood tones and yellow lighting](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-19-1apgv-900.webp)

![Neatly arranged tables, mostly 2–4 person seating](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-20-1l58s-900.webp)

![A full view of the cozy interior at Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-21-io871-900.webp)

Kkot Gatsu, a go-to pork cutlet spot in Dongtan, has a clean, warm atmosphere built around wood tones and yellow lighting, which felt more comfortable than I expected. Rather than a huge, sprawling space, it's cozy, with tables kept neatly arranged. The tables are mostly 2–4 person seating, so it seemed like a lot of families and couples come here.

We visited on a Saturday at 12:30 pm, and there really did seem to be a lot of couples on dates. (So sweet — young love is nice to see, haha.)

## How long is the Saturday lunch wait?

![The entrance where you sign up for the waitlist at Kkot Gatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-22-t4b8z-900.webp)

![Screen showing the Saturday lunch waiting number](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-23-100nl-900.webp)

We arrived at Kkot Gatsu around 12:20 pm on a Saturday, and I went in first to put our name on the waitlist. There were 7 teams ahead of us, but turnover was fast, so we got in within just 10 minutes! If you're planning a weekend lunch visit, you might run into a wait like we did, so I'd recommend arriving with a bit of extra time around noon.

## Wrapping up

![The table after finishing the meal at Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait/dongtan-mokdong-katsu-saturday-lunch-wait-24-iypz9-900.webp)

There was a wait since it was weekend lunch, but we got seated faster than expected, and we thoroughly enjoyed the cheese cutlet, premium loin cutlet, and curry udon at Kkot Gatsu, a top pork cutlet spot in Dongtan! Highly, highly recommend it whenever you're craving a good pork cutlet in Dongtan — and that's a wrap on today's post!
