Today I'm bringing you a review of Bocado Butter, a unique dessert spot near Seongsu Station! I'd seen it recommended by influencers a few times as a Seongsu dessert spot and Seoul Forest café pick, so I was super curious haha. And this menu is something you can only find here at Bocado Butter—! I happened to be hunting for a solid dessert-to-go place for a Seoul Forest picnic, so I bookmarked it right away and went 🍀

A giant bear greets you at this café 🐻 There was also a yellow bench outside where you could sit and eat something quickly. The whole vibe was so cute and charming that I thought it was the perfect interior for butter 🧈 haha.

## Inside Bocado Butter: can you sit and eat there?

Bocado Butter Seongsu Main Store seems takeout-focused, but there are actually quite a lot of seats further inside. Everything from tables that fit several people to a long bar table—! Plus, some spots even had outlets, so it felt like a good vibe for a bit of light work haha.

There was even a sink inside the café for washing your hands, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch—! Since Bocado Butter's desserts are eaten with your hands, it could feel a bit off if your hands weren't clean, so having a handwash station there was great! The restroom was outside the café!

Bocado Butter's signature item is exactly this — the 'Bocado'—! I looked it up and found that bocado means 'a bite' in Spanish! At first I wondered if it was a Spanish food, but that doesn't quite seem to be the case either?! It's a special menu item unique to Bocado Butter 🧈

There was a nice variety of set options! In particular, the Bocado Box and the Bocado Marshmallow Sandwich box come in cute paper boxes, making them perfect as a Seongsu dessert gift ⭐️ Also, Bocado Butter isn't just about butter desserts — it's also a hot spot for coconut ice cream, desserts, and drinks—! There were also several kinds of dipping cream available for the bocado. (I'll go into detail later, but adding a dipping cream is absolutely essential for the best taste,,, 🤍)

The drink menu was also varied! From the signature Coconut Einspänner to Butter Cream Latte, Coconut Latte, Coconut Milk, Coconut Affogato, Orange-cano, and even Binggrae Banana Latte. So many coconut drinks 🫪 Americano was also just ₩3,500, which felt cheap compared to nearby cafés haha.

## Packing a Seongsu dessert box for a Seoul Forest picnic

We only ordered the Bocado Box plus dipping creams without any drinks, so the takeout order was ready in less than 3 minutes haha.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Bocado Butter to Seoul Forest. The weather was so nice, perfect for a walk—! In particular, since there aren't many solid takeout spots or cafés right around Seoul Forest, I feel like a lot of people probably stop by Seongsu first before heading over haha. It's a great tip for enjoying a Seongsu outing paired with a Seoul Forest picnic 🤍

## What does a bocado taste like?

So what kind of dessert is this bocado, exactly—! It's so~~~ thin that instead of snapping cleanly, it crumbles apart with a crisp, wafer-like texture! It looks like a crepe, but the texture is more like a crispy cracker(?).

In between, there's a very~~ thin layer of butter cream. When you bite into it, it just breaks apart effortlessly, and it melts in your mouth as you eat it. Personally, it reminded me of the Baekmidang soft-serve ice cream cone — do you know it? It has that same flavor, but the texture is much thinner and crispier—! That was exactly it haha. It was a soft, plain dessert where you could really taste the vanilla and butter aroma.

## Comparing the 3 dipping creams: coffee, coconut and chocolat

The real kicker at Bocado Butter is this dipping cream,,, Each one is ₩1,200, and I tried all three: coffee, coconut, and chocolat.

### Coffee dipping cream, 1,200 won

Bocado Butter's dipping cream isn't a runny whipped cream but a fairly firm, somewhat dense and sturdy cream. Maybe that's why, even after quite a bit of time had passed since packing it up, the cream stayed firm without melting or turning mushy haha.

Bocado leans more plain than sweet. So when you add a bit of sweetness and creaminess, that flavor gets maximized—! The coffee dipping cream added a subtle coffee aroma on top of that, making it my personal top pick ...🤍 It felt like the sweet flavor and richness of a butterscotch candy turned into a cream ...! ✨

Since this is a famous dessert spot for coconut, you can't skip the coconut dipping cream, right?

The coconut aroma was so subtle yet so delicious. It was a little less sweet than the coffee dipping cream, but the plain, subtle coconut aroma paired really well with the butter. My friend's top pick was this coconut dipping cream 🥥🥥

### Chocolat dipping cream, 1,200 won

I was curious about the chocolate-flavored dipping cream too, so I ordered it along with the others.

I could feel a slight difference in density between the creams! I found the order from firmer and heavier to be coffee > coconut > chocolat. The chocolat dipping cream was the runniest! 🍫 I expected it to be the sweetest, but it actually tasted like real 80% cocoa chocolate cream. The sweetness was very subtle, while the chocolate flavor and aroma came through clearly!

### How many dipping creams should you order?

Reflecting my personal taste, since bocado itself is on the plain side, I found that a sweeter dipping cream suits it better! And I felt it tasted much better when I dipped it generously into the cream rather than eating the bocado plain—! Since I kept dipping it heavily, I felt like two creams wouldn't be enough and three would let you enjoy it more comfortably 🧁 Coffee dipping cream is my favorite, so next time I want to buy two of the coffee cream >_<
