## In short

Mansu Shabu Kalguksu is a shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) restaurant on Yeongtong-ro in Byeongjeom-gu, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, a short drive from Mangpo. On a first visit the writer had the spicy pork belly shabu kalguksu at 11,900 won per person plus meat dumplings for the hot pot, and on a second visit brought her parents for the beef shabu kalguksu at 12,900 won per person with a 9,900 won healthy mushroom and vegetable platter. The noodles, pulled fresh in the restaurant's own noodle room, stayed chewy instead of turning soft, making Mansu Shabu Kalguksu an easy choice for a family meal near Mangpo and Byeongjeom.

I visited Mansu Shabu Kalguksu, a place between Mangpo and Byeongjeom where you can have shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) together, twice. From spicy pork shabu kalguksu to beef shabu-shabu with healthy mushrooms and what tasted like handmade fresh noodles, here's my review after eating there with family.

I heard Mansu Shabu Kalguksu had opened near my house and visited for the first time. When my family gets together, I often go to shabu-shabu places where you can eat plenty of vegetables and enjoy warm broth, so as soon as I heard about a new spot, I was curious.

![Interior view of Mansu Shabu Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom-02-1s8no-966.webp)

On my first visit I had the spicy pork shabu kalguksu and was more satisfied than I expected, so after some time passed I went back with my parents. This time I added beef shabu-shabu and healthy mushrooms, and my parents said it was delicious too — so this has become a place I'll think of again when looking for somewhere for a family meal.

What stood out most was that, beyond the usual beef shabu-shabu, they also have pork shabu-shabu, and that the kalguksu served after the shabu-shabu was delicious too.

## Where is Mansu Shabu Kalguksu, and how far is it from Mangpo Station?

Mansu Shabu Kalguksu is on the 1st floor at 40 Yeongtong-ro, Byeongjeom-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's about 1.4 km from Mangpo Station, so it's less a spot right at the station exit and more a good choice for people whose daily life spans Mangpo, Banwol-dong in Hwaseong, and Byeongjeom. If you're coming from Mangpo Station by public transit, a bus or taxi is more convenient, and it's about a 2-minute walk from Banwol-ri, the stop closest to the restaurant.

Since I heard about the new opening near my house, it wasn't hard for me to get there. It could also be an option for people near Samsung Electronics' Hwaseong campus or DSR looking for somewhere to eat with family or coworkers.

Hours, as posted, run from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with a break time on weekdays from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Hours and days off may change, so if you're coming from far away, it's worth checking the latest information before you go.

## Inside Mansu Shabu Kalguksu: the glass-walled noodle room

## Is Mansu Shabu Kalguksu a good fit for a family meal?

One of the things that impressed me most on my first visit was that the noodle-making room is visible inside the restaurant. It's set up so you can see the noodle-making space through the glass, which made it feel less like a place using delivered noodles and more like eating ingredients made right there.

When I usually go to shabu-shabu places, I mostly focus on the meat or the broth, but here I actually found myself looking forward to the kalguksu at the end. Eating it, I liked the noodle texture, and I think I understood a bit why they show off the noodle-making space separately.

The atmosphere also wasn't intimidating for a family visit. There were families with kids there when I went, and since they also have a tonkatsu set on the menu besides shabu-shabu, choosing a menu with kids should be a bit easier.

On my second visit, I brought my parents. Since I had enjoyed the food the first time, I suggested going again, and my parents were satisfied throughout the meal too. In the past, when I've eaten out with my parents, there were times they couldn't eat much if the food was too spicy or greasy.

![Basic shabu-shabu spread served with parents](https://img.superchart.com/images/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom-09-kohmu-966.webp)

Shabu-shabu lets you eat plenty of vegetables and mushrooms while enjoying warm broth, so I often picked it for family gatherings — and this place was good for that purpose too.

## Mansu Shabu Kalguksu menu and prices

On my first visit, I ordered the spicy pork shabu kalguksu. It was ₩11,900 per person, and I added 6 pieces of meat dumplings for the shabu for ₩4,900. When I first saw pork shabu-shabu on the menu, I found it a bit surprising. I've had plenty of stews and hot pots with pork in spicy broth, but cooking thinly sliced pork shabu-shabu style was almost a first for me.

![Thinly sliced pork for shabu-shabu](https://img.superchart.com/images/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom-11-1pf3p-966.webp)

So I was curious how the broth flavor would differ from beef. Trying it, it was cleaner than the heavy, greasy taste I'd expected, and it went well with the spicy broth.

### Beef shabu kalguksu with the 9,900 won mushroom and vegetable platter

On my second visit, my parents and I ordered the beef shabu kalguksu. It was ₩12,900 per person, and we added the healthy mushroom and vegetable option for ₩9,900. Plenty of different mushrooms came out, which my parents especially liked. I'm also unusually fond of mushrooms myself, so I was excited the moment it hit the table.

Along with the oyster mushrooms I usually eat, there were lion's mane mushrooms, which I tried for the first time that day. With so many varieties, it's not just about more volume — there's fun in picking different ones, so I'd want to add the healthy mushroom and vegetable option again next time.

We also ordered the tonkatsu set that day. I didn't get a photo, but the portion was bigger than expected and the taste was solid. If you're visiting with a group, it works well as a side dish to share in the middle of the table.

## How the spicy pork broth and fresh kalguksu noodles tasted

Let me start with the pork spicy shabu kalguksu I was most curious about on my first visit.

Cooking the pork lightly in the broth, the flavor was cleaner than I'd expected. There was definitely spiciness, but it didn't feel too heavy, and I liked how the flavor got richer as the broth reduced while we kept adding meat and vegetables.

My partner, who came with me, seemed to really like the broth and kept scooping it up almost to the last drop. At some other shabu-shabu places, I've felt full afterward but somehow like the meal wasn't really finished. At Mansu Shabu Kalguksu, since the shabu-shabu is followed by kalguksu and then fried rice, it felt like a proper full course meal.

The kalguksu was what I liked best. Having seen the noodle room, I had some expectations, and I could really tell the difference in texture. Even after the noodles were added to the broth and boiled properly, they stayed chewy instead of going soft and mushy.

![Fresh kalguksu noodles cooked in the broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom/mansu-shabu-kalguksu-family-mushroom-16-tkgcl-966.webp)

By the time we'd finished the shabu-shabu on my first visit, I was already pretty full, but I kept reaching for the kalguksu anyway. At some shabu-shabu places I've been to, the final kalguksu just felt like adding carbs to the broth. Here, the noodles themselves were delicious enough that the name 'shabu kalguksu' clearly wasn't for nothing.

### What does the beef and mushroom combination taste like?

The beef shabu-shabu I had on my second visit felt completely different with the healthy mushroom and vegetable add-on. As the various mushrooms simmered in the broth, their aroma and umami came out more over time, and the broth felt deeper. My parents were pleased with how generous the mushroom portion was.

On the first visit, my partner and I had the spicy pork shabu-shabu; on the second, with my parents, it was a slightly milder meal slowly cooking beef and mushrooms. So I think the menu you choose can change depending on who you're with. If you like spicy broth, the pork spicy shabu kalguksu is an interesting choice, and if you're visiting with parents or family, I'd recommend the beef shabu-shabu with the healthy mushroom and vegetable add-on.

After the kalguksu, we also had fried rice. Between the shabu-shabu, meat, vegetables, kalguksu, and fried rice, I was completely full. Even on the first visit, when we only ordered for two, the meal turned out to have more courses than I expected and I ended up stuffed.

After the meal, we could even have tea or coffee, which was nice since we didn't need to look for a dessert café afterward.

## Final verdict after two visits to Mansu Shabu Kalguksu

Mansu Shabu Kalguksu isn't a place I visited just once — I enjoyed it so much I went back with my parents, which makes it more memorable. On the first visit, I experienced the new-to-me combination of pork shabu-shabu, and on the second, I enjoyed a lighter meal with beef and various mushrooms.

What both visits had in common was that the kalguksu at the end was satisfying every time. Instead of adding noodles out of habit after finishing the meat at a shabu-shabu place, I actually found myself looking forward to the kalguksu here. So if you're looking for a good restaurant near Mangpo and like both shabu-shabu and kalguksu, it's worth a visit. It also felt like a good fit for anyone searching for shabu-shabu in Byeongjeom or Dongtan and looking for somewhere comfortable to eat with family.

Especially if you're going with your parents, I'd recommend adding the healthy mushroom and vegetable option. Eating it myself, the variety of mushrooms was great and the broth flavor got richer, so it was worth adding. If you're visiting with kids, having a dish like tonkatsu that everyone can order together is also a plus — even if a child doesn't eat shabu-shabu well, it can reduce the chance the whole family struggles over the menu.

Above all, the pork shabu-shabu here is what stays with me. If you want to try something a little different from the usual beef shabu-shabu, I'd suggest starting with the spicy pork option. If I go back with family again, I'll definitely add the healthy mushroom and vegetable option. If you want a hearty meal near Mangpo and Byeongjeom with warm broth and chewy, seemingly handmade kalguksu, give Mansu Shabu Kalguksu a try.
