## Where is Omi Omi near Cheonan's Independence Hall, and is there parking?

Omi Omi Handmade Dumpling Hot Pot & Kudzu Naengmyeon Sono Bell Main Branch is located in Mokcheon, Cheonan, at 10 Dongpyeong 3-gil, Bukmyeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. It's not far by car from Cheonan's Independence Hall, so it's a decent spot for a meal after a day out.

I was recently at an event at the Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan, and stopped by Omi Omi in Mokcheon for dinner on the way back. There's a big parking lot right in front of the restaurant, so parking was easy.

## Inside Omi Omi: a spacious dining room with group tables

Once inside, Omi Omi's Sono Bell branch turned out to be much bigger than I expected. There was a table area set up in the back for large groups, which looked like it would work well for family gatherings or company dinners too.

Apparently this place was also featured on the TV show 'Saengsaeng Jeongbo — God of Business.' They sell handmade king dumplings, dumpling hot pot, and kudzu cold noodles together.

## Mild handmade dumpling hot pot for two, 15,000 won per person

We ordered the mild-flavor handmade dumpling hot pot for two at Omi Omi. It's ₩15,000 per person. There's a spicy version too, but we were told it's about as hot as Shin Ramyun, so we went with mild this time.

After a short wait, steaming dumplings came out first — 2 kimchi dumplings and 2 meat dumplings. The owner told us to eat them before they got cold.

Biting into a freshly steamed dumpling, the wrapper wasn't too thick and the filling was packed in tight. The meat dumplings had no gamey smell and tasted clean, with a nutty flavor coming through the more you chewed. The kimchi dumplings weren't overly spicy or sharp either. We were hungry, so eating them piping hot, they disappeared fast.

## What the perilla seed broth in Omi Omi's dumpling hot pot tastes like

Even as a portion for two, Omi Omi's dumpling hot pot pot was pretty full. Inside were king dumplings, shabu-style beef, shrimp, and various vegetables, plus 2 more dumplings.

As the broth started boiling, something was floating on top and at first I thought it was oil. Turned out it was perilla powder. You'd usually picture a clear broth for dumpling hot pot, but Omi Omi's version has perilla in it, giving the soup a nutty flavor with a bit more depth.

As the vegetables, meat, and shrimp cooked through, the broth got richer than it was at first. The king dumplings soaked in hot pot broth felt totally different from the steamed dumplings we'd had earlier. Fishing out the ingredients one by one, I kept going back for spoonfuls of the broth too.

## Adding free sujebi noodles from the self-serve bar

Once you've worked through the hot pot a bit, Omi Omi lets you grab free sujebi (hand-torn dough) or ramyeon noodles from the self-serve bar to cook in the remaining broth. We were already pretty full, so we just grabbed the sujebi.

Cooking the sujebi in the leftover broth, the dough soaked up the flavor and was delicious. Adding ramyeon on top seemed like it would've been a lot of food, but the sujebi alone was more than filling for us.

## The complimentary mini cold noodle soup that ends the meal

Toward the end of our meal, Omi Omi brought out a complimentary mini cold noodle soup.

The portion wasn't big, but after being stuffed on hot pot, that felt just right instead of heavy. Going from hot hot pot to cold noodles made for a refreshing finish.

Omi Omi's kudzu naengmyeon is apparently a signature menu item too — the broth is made with beef brisket and bone stock, topped with thinly julienned cucumber and pear. We finished with the service cold noodles this time, but next time I'd like to order the kudzu naengmyeon separately.

## Is Omi Omi worth it for dumpling hot pot near Sono Bell, Cheonan?

The handmade dumpling hot pot we had at Omi Omi this time was ₩15,000 per person. Starting with 4 steamed dumplings, then working through a hot pot loaded with king dumplings, meat, shrimp, and vegetables plus sujebi noodles, and finishing with service cold noodles — it was a pretty filling meal.

The handmade dumplings and the perilla-based hot pot broth especially stuck with me. If you're at Cheonan's Independence Hall or Sono Bell and craving dumpling hot pot, this place is worth a stop. Next time we come back this way, I'll be sure to try the kudzu naengmyeon too.
