Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is about a 10-minute walk from Exit 4 of Gangnam Station. It's near Gangnam Church and right on the road, so it was easy to spot. The exterior already felt upscale, and the interior was clean and pleasant.

Since it was a farewell gathering, we made a reservation ahead of time, and the tables were spaced wide enough that we could chat comfortably. We brought a cake for the farewell celebration, and the staff kindly stored it for free so it wouldn't melt — that touched me!

Even though it was a weeknight after work, there were quite a few small groups dining. (I took this shot of the interior once it had quieted down after the earlier crowd.)

## What comes in the 59,000 won Sulgiun Set?

I ordered the Sulgiun Set, which is perfect for a Gangnam Station gathering menu. It came generously loaded with galbi samgyeopsal 200g, pork jowl 150g, gabrisal 150g, and a vegetable platter.

In particular, fragrant minari (water celery), bracken fern, and green onion all came out to pair with the meat, and the balance was really good. Anyone who loves minari samgyeopsal would probably love this Gangnam Station meat restaurant.

The basic side dishes were also really varied — apparently everything except myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), wasabi, and salt is made in-house. Paired with the meat, it brought out the natural meaty flavor even more.

The green onion is soaked in a separate sauce and eaten with the meat once it's cooked through — the sauce, infused with green onion flavor, added even more depth to the meat.

But best of all, the staff grilled the meat for us directly, so we could just chat comfortably and eat it at the perfect moment.

Because it's aged meat cooked on Giun's own grill, it was juicy and really savory.

Giun's signature dish, galbi samgyeopsal, is aged on the bone, giving it deep flavor, and the intercostal meat between the ribs gave it a unique texture.

Gabrisal is a rare cut, a small amount attached to the sirloin. It was soft and clean-tasting. I loved eating the clean-tasting gabrisal together with minari.

## Finishing the meal with donjang sulbap, 8,000 won

You need doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) with meat, right? As we ate, we started craving it, so we immediately ordered the side menu donjang sulbap.

It was a doenjang jjigae simmered in a refreshing vegetable-based broth with whole radish, whole onion, and green onion, plus pork added in — the savoriness of the pork fat balanced nicely with the refreshing broth. It was packed with tofu and rice, making for a satisfying finish.
