# Seongsu burger restaurant with mushroom fritters: bd Burger

While deciding what to have for lunch near Seongsu Station, I was craving a handmade burger this time, so I went to bd Burger Seongsu.

There are so many good places to eat in Seongsu that even choosing where to go is quietly difficult, but that day I wanted to try a burger a little different from my usual choice, so I picked bd Burger, which is known for its shrimp burgers.

What especially caught my eye was that, alongside regular beef burgers, they had a range of shrimp-based options such as Wasabi Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp Avocado. Beyond fries, there were also slightly unusual sides like fried button mushrooms and fried eggplant.

## A casual burger restaurant worth stopping by from Seongsu Station

bd Burger Seongsu is within easy walking distance of Seongsu Station, so it is conveniently placed for a meal while you are out shopping or café-hopping. The restaurant is on the second floor, and its overall atmosphere was casual but neat, making it an easy choice for a meal with friends or on a date.

We ordered the Wasabi Shrimp Burger Set and the Double Cheese Burger Set. Since burgers alone felt a little lacking, we also ordered Butter Garlic Fries and fried eggplant/button mushrooms.

The reason we chose two menu items was that we wanted to compare burgers in completely different styles. The Wasabi Shrimp Burger is one of bd Burger's signature items, characterized by the combination of shrimp, wasabi sauce, and mustard greens.

They also give you corn salad through a review event, so it would be nice to take part.

While waiting, it was convenient that everything we needed—water, cutlery, napkins, wet wipes, plastic gloves, and so on—was organized together at the self-service bar.

## Comparing the Wasabi Shrimp and Double Cheese burgers

Here came the burgers with their thick patties! We started with the Wasabi Shrimp Burger. Visually, it passed right away.

When you think of a shrimp burger, it is easy to picture a thin shrimp patty, but bd Burger's Wasabi Shrimp has a very definite shrimp presence. On the first bite, you notice the shrimp's springy, chewy texture first, followed by the sharp aroma of wasabi sauce. The wasabi is not so strong that it stings your nose; it is closer to something that cuts through the richness typical of fried shrimp.

Personally, the most disappointing thing about shrimp burgers is when the sauce or fried coating makes them feel rich too quickly, but that was clearly less of an issue here because of the wasabi. The shrimp's savory flavor and wasabi's distinctive sharpness worked better together than I expected.

What I kept noticing while eating this burger was, above all, the texture. With the soft bun and sauce around it, the shrimp still had that springy bite, so it felt distinctly different from an ordinary patty burger.

The Double Cheese Burger, on the other hand, went in a completely different direction. True to its name, it is a classic-style burger centered on thick beef patties and cheese. Its current menu description also highlights the thick double patties, cheese, and juicy beef.

Where the Wasabi Shrimp Burger was distinctive for its shrimp-and-sauce combination, the Double Cheese Burger was much heftier and centered on the meat.

Because it has two patties, the meat flavor was clearly richer in a bite, while the cheese added a salty, savory richness.

This difference was exactly why I thought ordering both burgers was a good choice. One was comparatively fresh and distinctive because of the shrimp and wasabi, while the other had the rich, weighty flavor of patty and cheese, so their personalities were completely different.

If two people visit, it could be nice for each person to order one and share halves. With only one menu item from the start, you naturally focus on that burger's flavor, but alternating between such different burgers made each one's traits stand out more.

## How were the fried mushroom and eggplant sides?

The item that ended up being more satisfying than expected that day was the fried button mushrooms plus fried eggplant. When you think of burger-restaurant sides, you usually think of fries or cheese fries, but bd Burger has fried button mushrooms, so I ordered them out of curiosity.

The fried button mushrooms had a crisp exterior, while the inside retained the mushrooms' characteristic aroma and moist, tender texture, making them fun in a way that ordinary fries are not. The fried eggplant also paired better than expected when I picked at a piece or two between bites of burger.

The mushrooms and eggplant themselves were mild and nutty, so they worked with the rich cheese burger and did not clash much with the Wasabi Shrimp Burger either. Personally, perhaps because I had not gone in expecting the fried mushrooms, they stayed with me even more. Other reviews often mention the fried mushrooms and eggplant as bd Burger's unusual sides, and after trying them, I could see why they stand out among the side dishes.

And the fries that came with the sets were also a good side to eat alongside the burgers.

Fries are something that would feel a little missed when eating a burger, so they naturally come along when you order a set, but that day the added fritters made for quite a generous spread of sides.

Alternating between a fry, fried eggplant, and a fried mushroom kept the textures changing, so my palate never got bored.

That said, two burgers plus the sides made for quite a substantial amount of food. If two people visit and order two burger sets with an added side, you may end up fuller than expected, so if you do not usually eat a lot, adding just one side should be enough.

Overall, the Wasabi Shrimp Burger seemed like a good match for someone who likes distinctive shrimp burgers, while the Double Cheese Burger would suit someone who likes a rich, classic handmade burger.

Trying the two together especially made bd Burger feel less like simply a place famous for shrimp burgers and more like a handmade burger restaurant where you can choose according to your taste. The restaurant itself also has Seongsu's characteristic casual atmosphere, so it felt closer to a comfortable place to eat after shopping or visiting cafés in Seongsu than somewhere for an overly formal meal.

It seemed suitable for a fairly wide range of occasions, from eating alone to meals with friends or dates. If you want a burger a little different from the usual options in Seongsu, I recommend the Wasabi Shrimp Burger; if you are more of a “burgers are all about meat and cheese!” person, the Double Cheese Burger will probably suit you better. And if you add a side, I would personally recommend trying the fried button mushrooms at least once. If I come back, I would like to try one of the other burgers I missed this time.
