## In short

Central Site Hapjeong is a roastery café near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul, where brewed hand-drip and filter coffee is the signature menu. The writer ordered Ethiopia Nordic Approach Yirgacheffe Chelbesa Washed (9,000 won) and Guatemala Entre Volcanes Washed (8,000 won), compared the two side by side with the bean info cards that come with each cup, and added a tiramisu. Because the iced drip is poured over a single whiskey ice cube, it never turned watery, so Central Site Hapjeong suits anyone who likes nutty, mellow beans.

I went to Central Site Hapjeong, a café near Hapjeong Station famous for its hand-drip coffee! I've always liked coffee, so while hunting for good coffee spots near Hapjeong Station I came across this place. I was curious because I'd heard the hand-drip coffee was famous, and after actually visiting, not just the coffee but the whole café vibe was so nice haha. Today I'll honestly walk you through the coffee I tried and the atmosphere at Central Site Hapjeong!

The lighting made the whole café feel really nice! Outside there were benches too, and since the weather was good, a lot of people were enjoying their coffee outdoors. There was even someone drinking coffee outside with their retriever, which was so cute haha. On a nice day, I think sitting outside instead of inside really lets you enjoy the vibe even more!

## What we ordered: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chelbesa and Guatemala Entre Volcanes

We ordered brewing (hand-drip/filter) coffee, Central Site's signature menu! Since we both like a nutty coffee, we picked the Ethiopia Nordic Approach Yirgacheffe Chelbesa Washed (₩9,000) and the Guatemala Entre Volcanes Washed (₩8,000). We also ordered a tiramisu to go with the coffee haha. I was excited to see how the hand-drip and tiramisu combo would taste!

![Coffee machines and equipment inside the café](https://img.superchart.com/images/hapjeong-centralsite-whisky-ice-drip/hapjeong-centralsite-whisky-ice-drip-07-c9698-900.webp)

The interior was spacious and comfortable, great for enjoying coffee at a leisurely pace! There was coffee-related equipment and machinery all around the café. Maybe because of that, it felt less like a regular café and more like a place that treats coffee as a real craft haha. There's clearly a reason the hand-drip coffee here is so famous!

## Choosing beans by smelling the aroma pumps

The beans used for the brewing coffee were on display like this! It was set up so you could smell the bean aromas directly, which made it fun to compare scents before ordering. Seeing that they'd set up a space just for this made it clear this is a café that's truly serious about coffee haha.

You just press the pump like this and you can smell the coffee aroma of the beans directly! I tried pressing each one and comparing the scents, and it was great being able to smell them and choose the type of coffee that way haha. Thanks to that, I picked out the nutty bean I like best.

## The bean info card that comes with each coffee

The tiramisu and brewing drip coffee we ordered came out! When they served the coffee, they didn't just hand it over — they also gave us an info card about each bean. It was more fun to drink while reading about the bean's characteristics and flavor haha. As you'd expect from a hand-drip coffee specialty shop, there were little touches everywhere to help you enjoy the coffee more!

![Info card for the Guatemala Entre Volcanes bean](https://img.superchart.com/images/hapjeong-centralsite-whisky-ice-drip/hapjeong-centralsite-whisky-ice-drip-15-1a2ef-900.webp)

My friend's Ethiopia coffee and my Guatemala coffee each came with slightly different info cards! My friend's Ethiopia card described the flavor flow in detail — the first taste, the flavor in the middle, and the finish. It said a sweet, peach-like taste came through before finishing with something like black tea. I usually just enjoy coffee for the taste without thinking too much, but knowing what flavors to expect beforehand made me focus more on the actual taste while drinking haha. My Guatemala coffee's card had not just flavor notes but detailed info about origin and producer — where and how the beans were grown. It was fun learning about the bean's characteristics and origin while drinking a single cup, and I could see why coffee enthusiasts would really love these details!

## Iced hand drip on whiskey ice: how the two beans compare

Knowing the flavor notes beforehand really made the taste come through more than usual! Normally at work I basically drink coffee to survive lol, gulping it down quickly just to wake up. But sitting at a café, reading about the beans, and slowly tasting each flavor one by one felt totally different. Just drinking a single cup of coffee, but knowing about the beans made me focus more on the taste, and it turned into such a relaxing, healing moment haha. It felt like I properly enjoyed 'drinking coffee' for the first time in a while!

Another great thing was that they make the iced coffee with whiskey ice! Since whiskey ice melts more slowly than regular ice, it didn't melt easily even as time passed. Iced coffee often gets watered down as the ice melts, but here the ice melted slowly, so I could keep drinking the coffee at close to its original flavor for a long time!

The Guatemala coffee I ordered wasn't the type with strong acidity — it was mildly nutty and subtle overall. It wasn't sharp or intense, going down smoothly, which suited my usual coffee preference well haha. My friend's Ethiopia coffee had a bit more pronounced aroma and flavor than the Guatemala. It wasn't strongly acidic either, but the nutty flavor came through clearly along with a more distinct Ethiopian bean character. Even though both were the same brewing coffee, the aroma and taste varied quite a bit depending on the bean, which made comparing them fun! If you're someone who doesn't usually prefer coffee with strong acidity, I'd recommend picking beans centered on nutty flavors like the Guatemala and Ethiopia we ordered. Since each bean's flavor characteristics were written out in detail, it was easy to pick one that matched our taste haha.

## How was the tiramisu at Central Site Hapjeong?

The tiramisu looked amazing from the start! It also tasted really soft and sweet, making it a perfect pairing with the coffee. The coffee balanced out the tiramisu's sweetness just right, so we kept reaching for more haha.

With a high cream content, it felt really soft and moist overall! The cream seemed to melt in your mouth, so it was so delicious, and eating it with the dark chocolate topping on top added a sweet yet slightly bitter note that made the combo even better haha. The soft cream and dark chocolate blended so well that a sip of coffee followed by a bite of tiramisu just kept us going!

## Verdict: who should visit Central Site Hapjeong

Overall, from the coffee to the dessert, Central Site Hapjeong was a satisfying café in Hapjeong! It's especially worth visiting if you like hand-drip coffee or want to explore different coffee flavors. Getting to smell the bean aromas directly and read the flavor notes while drinking made the whole experience more fun haha. You can relax on the outdoor benches, or enjoy the spacious, comfortable interior, making it a great spot for a date or a relaxed chat. If you're looking for a café with a good vibe in Hapjeong or a good restaurant near Hapjeong Station, it's worth stopping by Central Site Hapjeong for a leisurely cup of coffee ☕️
