We ordered a special galbitang for ₩20,000 and a raw beef bibimbap for ₩14,000, bringing the total to ₩34,000. Ordering one warm soup dish and one mixed rice bowl together meant we got to enjoy beef two completely different ways, which made the meal feel more satisfying overall. ## What kind of Korean restaurant is Idobonga?

Idobonga says it prepares a rich broth every day from scratch as the base for its galbitang, galbijjim (braised short ribs), and beef hot pot. True to the shop's promise of serving a proper bowl that's hard to recreate at home, the place struck me as focused less on flashy presentation and more on a single spoonful of broth and a single piece of meat. Its stated aim of striking a balance — not too much, not too little — matched well with the two dishes we ordered that day.

## Special galbitang, 20,000 won: one extra short rib in the bowl

First up, the special galbitang is the basic galbitang with one extra rib added. Steam rose from the stone pot, and the first sip of the rich broth felt like it settled the stomach right away. The broth was deep without being too heavy, so each spoonful kept pulling me back, and it worked well poured over rice too. The ribs were generous, making one bowl filling on its own, and the meat, cooked until tender, left a clean, lingering flavor when eaten with the broth. It would suit a chilly lunch or a hangover-cure kind of meal just as well.

## What does the 14,000 won yukhoe bibimbap taste like?

The gyukhoe bibimbap (raw beef mixed rice bowl) we ordered alongside had an appeal that contrasted nicely with the warm galbitang. Mixing the raw beef and toppings over rice into the seasoning brought out a savory, umami-rich flavor. The combination of the beef's soft texture with crunchy ingredients was great, and each bite offered a slightly different sensation that kept the appetite going. If the special galbitang anchored the meal with its comforting, deep broth, the raw beef bibimbap added balance with the fun of mixing a bowl and its refreshing taste.

## Best order for two: special galbitang plus yukhoe bibimbap

Eating the two dishes together gave a natural rhythm of switching between broth, rice, and meat. A spoonful of galbitang, then a bite of bibimbap, then back to the warm broth — the meal felt much richer than ordering just one dish. It also worked well for two people ordering one dish each to share, and suited different tastes at the table. Eating alongside kimchi to taste made the meal something to linger over. I'd recommend the special galbitang to anyone who loves rich broth and meat, and the raw beef bibimbap to anyone who prefers the varied textures and flavors that bibimbap offers.
