## In short

Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang is a tonkatsu restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul, where I had Korean-style Western donkatsu and curry donkatsu with a friend. The two large cutlets were filling and crisp, and the mushroom soup stood out to me.

I had been craving Korean-style Western donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), so I went to Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch (용산돈까스온정경양식당 용산점), with a friend. I chose the Korean-style Western donkatsu, while my friend chose the Onjeong curry donkatsu.

## Where is it, and what kind of tonkatsu does it serve?

The restaurant is at Unit 107, 1F, Building B, 341 Baekbeom-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It said that the cutlets are fried to order and made with Dodram Korean pork loin and a house sauce.

## What are the menu, price range, and ordering process like?

The menu was posted inside where it was easy to see, so choosing was straightforward. There were Korean-style Western donkatsu, spicy donkatsu, cheddar cheese donkatsu, and curry donkatsu, as well as udon and donkatsu, buckwheat noodles and donkatsu, fried tofu and fish-cake udon, and chilled green tangerine buckwheat soba. The original post listed a price range of ₩13,000–₩15,000, but did not record individual menu prices.

We ordered through a kiosk. Drinks included cola, Zero Cola, and cider, and we ordered the two kinds of donkatsu with Zero Cola.

## Is there seating for solo meals or family dining?

While waiting for our food, I looked around the neatly arranged interior. It was bright, and I thought it would also be nice for families or people dining with children.

The self-service bar had rice, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), danmuji (pickled yellow radish), cabbage, salad dressing, and wet wipes. It was convenient to take more of anything we needed during the meal.

There was bar seating suitable for eating alone, along with tables for two and four people. Takeout was also available.

## How is the Korean-style Western donkatsu set served?

A staff member brought my Korean-style Western donkatsu to the table. It came with bread, salad, rice, strawberry jam, soup, broth, kkakdugi, and danmuji.

It had two large pieces of donkatsu, which made the portion feel generous.

## What were the curry donkatsu and accompanying soup like?

My friend's Onjeong curry donkatsu was topped with curry sauce. The sauce went well with the rice, making it easy to eat the cutlet and rice together.

Before eating the donkatsu, I tried the soup first. It was mushroom soup, and it was one of the items I enjoyed most in the meal.

## What were the texture and portion size of the donkatsu like?

The meat seemed to have been pounded thin before frying, giving it a crisp texture. I also enjoyed soaking it generously in the sauce. I arrived very hungry, and felt satisfyingly full by the end of the meal.
