Today I was craving spicy Korean food in Sanbon, so I went to Deodolpan Sanbon Branch!! It hasn't been open long, so it seems like a lot of Sanbon locals don't know about it yet!! So let me introduce it right away to anyone looking for a Gunpo Sanbon restaurant 👉🏻

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is a newly opened hotplate stir-fry restaurant in Sanbon! According to the signage in the store, they've carried over their recipes from their original Seongsu-dong location, so you can enjoy the same sizzling hotplate cooking here in Sanbon too.

As soon as I walked in, the store was spacious and clean! Maybe because of the floor-to-ceiling windows, it felt even more open and airy~

The tables weren't packed too close together, so it looked comfortable for a meal, and there was group seating too, so it seemed good for visiting with a larger group!!

It's located right in the center of Sanbon's main commercial district, so it's great for lunch, and in the evening the mood is right for spicy hotplate dishes with drinks too — it seems like a good spot whether you're looking for a Sanbon lunch spot or a dinner gathering!

There's a kiosk at every table to order from, and we went with two things: the two-person sizzling hotplate oje bokkeum set and the double-cheese Chapagetti!! The sizzling hotplate oje bokkeum set comes with steamed rice and doenjang soup as standard, and for an extra charge you can swap in noodle sarl or cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), so we added udon noodles 🤩 Looking at the menu board, besides squid stir-fry there were several other hotplate stir-fry sets like pork stir-fry and squid-intestine stir-fry, so you can choose according to your taste ☺️

## The taste of the sizzling hotplate oje bokkeum and spice level 1

First the basic side dishes came out!! I wondered why there were bean sprouts and young radish kimchi — turns out they're meant to be mixed into the big rice bowl~

Everything arrived, so let me introduce each dish one by one~

First, the dish I was most looking forward to — the sizzling hotplate oje bokkeum!! As in the photo, the hotplate was piled high with squid and pork, along with onion and cabbage! Green onion shreds and jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) were on top too, so it looked delicious from the first glance haha

It's stir-fried quickly over high heat, so the sauce had that distinctive smoky flame flavor! And since it comes served on a hot stone plate, I could keep enjoying it warm the whole time I was eating!

I don't usually like vegetables... but the cabbage and onion stir-fried in this sauce were delicious haha And mixing in the jjolmyeon on top was great too since the sauce had soaked into it.

After eating a bit, we added the udon noodles and mixed them in!! I personally like thick noodles, so the udon really went well with the sauce haha

They said level 1 is Shin Ramyun heat, so we went with level 1, but for my spice-wimp taste buds it was a bit spicy haha Still, it was delicious eaten with the side dishes 😋 And with all the worry these days about imported vegetables and where things come from ㅠㅠ, Deodolpan uses domestic ingredients and serves cheonggukjang alongside it too, so I could eat with peace of mind.

### The double-cheese Chapagetti was fine eaten on its own

Next up, the double-cheese Chapagetti!! Normally this is meant to be mixed with the sauce on the hotplate after finishing the main dish, but since we'd already added udon noodles, we ate it separately!! The salty, savory flavor typical of Chapagetti was made even smoother with the added cheese, and eating it in between bites of the spicy squid stir-fry made for a nice combination!! Next time I'd like to try mixing it with the sauce for a Sichuan-style jjajang feel haha

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch got a thumbs-up from my boyfriend.. I recommend it as a Sanbon restaurant!
