## In short

Chilango Seolleung Main Branch is a taco-plate Mexican restaurant about 445m from Exit 1 of Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer ordered the two-person taco plate for ₩54,000 split between beef and chicken, added a tortilla for ₩2,000, and was especially struck by the grilled bell peppers and house-made salsa, guacamole and chili con carne. Two adult women left full with a bit to spare — a solid pick if you want something different near Seolleung Station.

Lately I've been low-key stressing over where to go when I have plans near Seolleung. I wanted something other than the usual Korean food or barbecue place, so while looking for dinner spots near Seolleung Station I ended up at Chilango Seolleung Main Branch, known for its taco plates.

We ordered the two-person taco plate for ₩54,000. We split it between beef and chicken, and it was plenty for two adult women — adding one extra tortilla made the portion just right.

It wasn't just meat — there were tons of vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms and onions mixed in. While we were eating, I kept noticing local residents coming in for takeout, which made me think this is a place people around here actually come back to.

## Location and atmosphere at Chilango Seolleung Main Branch

Chilango Seolleung Main Branch is about 445m from Exit 1 of Seolleung Station. The address is 19 Yeoksam-ro 67-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, 1st floor. It's not too far from the station but tucked slightly off the main road, so it felt a bit calmer than the busy heart of Gangnam — I liked that :) There are outdoor tables out front too, which would be great for eating outside on a nice day.

## The ₩54,000 two-person taco plate — how do you pick the mains?

One of Chilango's signature menu items is the taco plate! Based on the menu when I visited, it was ₩54,000 for two people with a choice of 2 mains, ₩78,000 for three people with a choice of 3, and ₩96,000 for four people with a choice of 3.

The phrase "slow food" caught my eye on Chilango's tacos. According to the restaurant, the salsa, guacamole and chili con carne are all made in-house by hand, without seasoning packets!!! Since it was our first visit, we figured we'd try the signature dish and ordered the two-person plate.

The main options were ✔️ beef, shrimp, pork and chicken. We agonized a bit and went with beef + chicken, and it was an excellent choice!!! The two flavors were different enough that it was fun to alternate between wraps. Plenty of nearby tables were eating this exact plate too.

## A portion generous enough for two women

When the food arrived, it was even more generous in person than in photos.

![Large taco pan with beef and chicken split half and half](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-12-1ou84-900.webp)

In the big pan, beef and chicken sat half and half, with plenty of bell peppers, onions and mushrooms tucked in between. Add the grilled bell peppers and all the vegetables, and the pan was completely full. It was plenty for two adult women — by our standard, we ate until we were quite full and still had a little left.

![Full spread of the two-person taco plate loaded with vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-13-1crmf-1200.webp)

We added one extra tortilla, and after that the portion was just right. The tortilla cost an extra ₩2,000 and came out warm, which kept it moist instead of drying out. Rather than ordering a lot of extras up front, I'd suggest trying the two-person plate first and adding on if you need more.

## Beef vs. chicken — comparing the two flavors

First, the beef we chose. It's wet-aged sirloin paired with cheese, apparently. It's good on its own, but piling beef, vegetables, salsa and sauce onto a tortilla and eating it in one bite was still the best way to go.

![Tortilla topped with beef, vegetables and sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-14-qkbxx-m-900.webp)

The menu listed the chicken as using tenderloin, bacon and truffle oil cheese. The two mains went in different flavor directions, so it was fun alternating bites between them. Being able to choose two mains on the two-person plate was something I personally appreciated.

## The surprise standout: grilled bell peppers

But there was something surprisingly delicious that day — the grilled bell peppers.

![Grilled bell peppers and mushrooms in the pan](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-15-18ryi-m-900.webp)

At first I thought of them as just a garnish. But once grilled, their sweetness really came through. I liked the fresh, crisp texture of the peppers themselves, and grilling brought out extra sweetness that went great between bites of meat.

There were also plenty of mushrooms and onions, and overall the vegetables were fresh enough that the plate, despite being meat-heavy, didn't feel heavy. You could tell everything, from the meat to the vegetables, was fresh. Because the vegetables were fresh throughout, this meat-centered dish felt lighter than expected.

## House-made salsa, guacamole and chili con carne

Another thing I liked about Chilango was the accompaniments.

![Side dish of sauces served with the tacos](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-16-1lwbg-900.webp)

With tacos, the meat matters, but the salsa and sauce you add can completely change each bite.

![Guacamole, salsa, nachos and other sides](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-17-e6eb1-900.webp)

Guacamole, salsa, nachos and chili con carne all came out, and I especially got a homemade feel from the salsa and guacamole. The restaurant's signage also stated that the salsa, guacamole and chili con carne are all made in-house. Rather than being aggressively strong-flavored, they leaned toward letting the ingredients' own flavors come through.

![Close-up of the house-made salsa and guacamole](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-18-1ysur-900.webp)

Personally, the chili con carne stuck with me the most. It was different from what I'd had before — it felt much more like it had been simmered from scratch rather than tasting like a bottled sauce. Adding a bit of chili on top of a tortilla loaded with meat and vegetables made each bite so much richer, and it worked well spooned over nachos too.

![Nachos and tortilla topped with chili con carne](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-19-122rz-900.webp)

Among the various sauces, the green sauce was my favorite. Adding a bit of sour cream to it made it even smoother. Meat → grilled vegetables → guacamole → salsa → green sauce → sour cream — mixing and matching however I wanted meant the flavor kept changing even though it was the same plate.

## A great spot for a beer at the outdoor tables

One thing I really liked was being able to eat outside. On a nice day, sitting on the terrace with tacos and a beer would make for a really great atmosphere.

![Outdoor terrace tables at Chilango Seolleung Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-20-888fw-900.webp)

When we visited, quite a few people were actually eating tacos with beer at the outdoor tables. As the weather cools down, the outdoor tables look like a great spot for a casual meal.

![Terrace seating and the street view in front of the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-22-1mqbz-900.webp)

Mexican food pairs well with beer anyway, and this seems like a good place to drop by casually after work or on a weekend. Next time, I want to sit at the outdoor tables on a nice day and have a taco plate with a beer.

## The steady stream of takeout customers stood out

While we were eating, I kept noticing people coming in for takeout. It wasn't just one or two groups — I saw it happen several times over the course of the meal, which made me think this isn't just a place tourists visit once, but somewhere locals actually keep coming back to.

Of course, I can't say for sure based on just one visit, but it felt to me like a place regulars nearby actually frequent. That kind of thing tends to stick with you more from an actual visit than from reading about it online.

## My take after trying it myself

I went looking for something a bit different to eat near Seolleung, and the food itself was quite satisfying.

The two-person taco plate was ₩54,000 split between beef and chicken, and the portion was plenty for two adult women. What I especially liked was that it wasn't just packed with meat — the grilled bell peppers, mushrooms and onions were fresh and generous. On top of that, it was fun mixing and matching the salsa, guacamole and chili con carne, which all tasted genuinely house-made, along with the other sauces.

![A wrapped bite of taco combining various sauces](https://img.superchart.com/images/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate/chilango-seolleung-taco-plate-23-qg0e2-900.webp)

We added one extra tortilla and the portion came out just right. I also remember the steady stream of people coming in for takeout during our meal. Oh, and the restroom was really clean too, haha.

If you're looking for tacos or Mexican food near Seolleung Station, this is worth a stop. Next time, I'd like to come back on a nice day and sit at the outdoor tables with a beer. :)
